Artist Drew Struzan has seen "half" of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and came away more than a little impressed.

Drew Struzan might not be a name that comes immediately to mind when mentioning the Star Wars films, even though it should. The artist behind the official posters for Return of the Jedi, the Star Wars Special Editions, the prequel trilogy and more, it would be no understatement to say that he's created some of the franchise's most iconic imagery.

Most recently, he illustrated a "commemorative" Force Awakens poster for Disney's D23 event, a task that apparently led to him receiving a rare opportunity to view a large chunk of the new film in advance of its December release. Saying it was a positive experience, in turn, would be an understatement. "It is far and away going to be the best Star Wars you've ever seen," Struzan said, in a phone interview on Tuesday. While Struzan wouldn't elaborate on what exactly the footage he saw contained, he confirmed that he's seen about "half" of the movie and has additionally read its script. He would go on to say that The Force Awakens will be "grand" and that "it's beautifully made [and a] wonderful story."

The iconic Star Wars original trilogy posters weren't made by him, he just made this crap.

struzan got his work on star wars started with a poster for the 1978 rerelease of episode 4, then made secondary posters for the rest of the ot.

his other work is good but floating head stuff is certainly being cheap

that was the poster originally used when the film's title was still revenge of the jedi (note the fact that luke has a red saber and vader has a blue saber)

but when george lucas retitled it, they used that other poster that just has the saber
