>Cinelinx has a really interesting tidbit today about Finn from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you remember a while back, a toy was released where Finn says “FN2187.” Upon hearing this in late August, it did occur to me that FN does sound like “Finn,” and perhaps the rumors about Finn being somewhat of alias are true.

>Well, according to our sources Finn is pretty much his ONLY name. Well technically, he’s FN-2187.

>Apparently Finn Doesn’t remember much about his childhood and his name is simply his number.

>According to what Cinelinx has heard, Finn and his First Order comrades practice with lightsabers and shields as part of their general training.

Damn you're telling me Finn might not be the name we actually have to deal with as a main protagonist? Thank fuck

If they made him a clone it would make more sense, as it is seems Stormtroopers are taken as kids and given numbers as names.

Probably doesn't have or know his real name.

 No.6886

>..and his First Order comrades practice with lightsabers and shields as part of their general training.

Fuck off, Abrams. Normies have zero business using sabers regularly and they don't belong with shields you insufferable kike.

 No.6888

>>6886

Actually I'm okay with this. If they're gonna rehash a Death Star and a bunch of other shit, I'm alright with non-Force users taking over the role of Sith as the big bads. Dark lord with infinite bad attitude fueling his powaaaah is getting old. Using shields as a way to make up for the fact they don't have the Force? I dunno, that sounds kinda cool

 No.6890

>non-force users using sabers to train

wow, something good for once. this is actually living up to the old mcquarrie artwork where everyone had a saber, and that one comic where boba dueled vader and whooped his ass.

>>6888

nice get

>>6880

this could tie back into the "lando's son" rumor.

what the shit

 No.6901

>>6900

Its fucking retarded innit? The reason why jedis and sith had them was because they needed the help of the force to NOT FUCKING CUT THEMSELVES WITH AN INFINITY BEAM

 No.7042

>>6886

This seems like a throwback to Lucas' earliest drafts, where the Stormtroopers were the ones who wielded "laser swords".

>Normies have zero business using sabers regularly and they don't belong with shields you insufferable kike.

I find it bizarre how half of you bitch about the film being a rehash yet the other half can't stand when the director actually uses creative license and switches things up.

>they don't belong with shields

Yeah why would soldiers use shields? Ridiculous!

 No.7047

>>7042

But anon, normalfolk cant use lightsabers. Only forceweilders could use lightsabers because they needed the help of the force in activating and actually using a weightless lazersword that can cut through spaceships

 No.7050

>>6879

Trailer confirms with him talking about what he was raised to do.

Stormtroopers start as babies or kids and don't have names just numbers.

 No.7052

I'm conflicted about non-force sensitives having lightsabers (not being Dark Side acolytes, that's actually pretty cool)

I think it's creative, it can open up to new plot possibilities, but isn't it going to oversaturate and casualize the image of the lightsaber ? Isn't this why the lightsaber is exclusive to Jedi ? Because it's such an elite weapon ? Aren't we going to get too much lightsabers onscreen ?

Sure, it was a fucking rave in Ep. 2 and 3, but it's a new trilogy, we're looking at it with a fresh eye… right ?

>Lightsaber is essentially a sword, the only difference being that it's an energy blade that can cut through basically anything.

>"only muh force-sensitives can use it"

It's a sword. A shiny, dangerous sword that anyone can pick up and swing around without cutting themselves. Your average fuckwit isn't about to start doing cartwheels and other assorted crazy shit with it. He's just gonna swing it like a fucking bat or something.

Sure, they'd not have much of a chance against someone who's been trained to use the same weapon, much in the same way a total novice is at a huge disadvantage when facing a trained swordsman, but that's not going to cause someone to instantly gut themselves the moment they as much as touch a lightsaber.

 No.7058

>>7056

JJ wants the sabers to be like the OT, heavy and hard to swing.

 No.7061

>only "muh force-sensitives can use it"

Well, yeah. Havent you seen a description on why no one but forceweilders seem to be able to use em?

>>7052

Now everyone and their dog is going to use a lightsaber. seriously, fuck jj

 No.7111

>>7058

they weren't heavy or hard to swing

luke learned from a training remote and vader was using prosthetic limbs

otherwise we would have had the prequel fights from the beginning

 No.7121

So is there going to be a thx 1138 named trooper or are they killing off all references to Lucas?

 No.7123

>>6879

>>6886

>>6900

It's a throw back to Ralph McQuarrie's art and not surprising.

It makes sense if the First Order or more likely the Knights of Ren are stealing possible force-sensitive babies and raising them to be troopers.

 No.7170

Pretty sure the hilt has an on/off button like a flashlight.

Did Han not briefly use Luke's saber in V?

Alright, sit down and listen for a second you ignorant younglings.

A saber is nothing more than a hilt with a weightless blade. The plasma after extending the length of the blade arcs back down thanks to the emiter field. This caused a gyroscopic effect.

If you have ever held anything with strong gyroscope in it you would know the "resistance" and feel of it sort of fighting you. Take a metal hilt and try swinging it around imagining there is a meter long plasma blade and then throw in that gyroscopic effect. You begin to realize how hard it would be to handle said weapon.

It isnt that only force sensetives could use them (though some did put the switch to turn it on inside so only they could enable them) it was just that the enhanced dexterity and reflexes helped. Even then there were some force sensetives that werent really all that great with them.

But to think only force users could use it… Its like youve never even seen the originals and know about han using lukes to create a luke-taun-ducken

 No.7266

I'm assuming it's like this.

Somewhere along the line the first order found some dude to clone. The dude had latent force sensitivity.

Finn, as a clone of that dude, along with the others, is technically a jedi candidate. But they need soldiers, not jedi. But they give them basic training just in case or something.

 No.7268

>>7266

that would actually work pretty well

hell, it'd be halfway to being a callback to Zahn

 No.7286

>>6886

What about Tapani sector nobles and their lightfoils?

 No.7292

>>7286

yeah, but they're nobles doing faggy noble things

very big difference between that and front-line troops

 No.7299

>>7292

>Not wanting to be a based Pelagia noble

>Not wanting to race yachts and interplanetary star cruisers

>Not wanting to get into a lightfoil duel over some petty shit like the other guy dissing your speeder

fuck you, it's a throwback to this

i'm not defending cuck cuck abrams because it's most likely an idea that came from michael arndt's original draft, but don't diss shit immediately unless it's something stupid, like killing han solo for the sake of poetry

 No.7338

>>7334

look, Abrams has made it very obvious he's trying to ride off this shit to distract people from how garbage a plot he made

look at EVERY FUCKING SELLING POINT

>muh practical effects

>muh McQuarrie

>muh original cast

>muh diversity

nowhere is there ANYTHING to do with writing a good movie that fits in the universe, and this is just further proof of it

 No.7341

>>7338

reading comp, bro. i completely agree with you and said that in the post, it doesn't make it any less cool that they brought this in, like how they used mcquarrie art in rebels.

 No.7343

>>7341

it feels like it's from a different universe

as fascinating as the Journal of the Whills is conceptually, I'd not find it cool for Cos Dashit to suddenly supplant Sheev just because it's a callback to something
