while I can definitely relate to it, I also adore some of the integration that the older companions have gotten in the new story.
(Seeing how they've matured in the time you've been gone).
I will also grant you some of the points regarding the aesthetics.
But I'll just play devils advocate here:
keeping it too detached form the movies, or the previous iterations would completely alienate a large portion of the fanbase, and hurt both business and public opinion.
That being said, the one thing that irks me more than anything is Vitiate's immortality-plot.
"Quickly! We have to kill the emperor before he takes over the galaxy!"
you then proceed to murder him in the throne rome.
"Ohh no! We have to stop revan from ressurecting the emperor!"
You proceed to stop Revan. Emperor ressurects none the less.
"Ohh no! The emperor had another empire far more powerful than the sith empire!"
You proceed to murder him by stabbing/shooting him in the back and then find out that not only did he survive, but he's in your head right now.
Personally I'd have liked this Eternal Empire to be more influenced by the 300 years that Revan was imprisoned by the emperor and the two were talking to each other in stasis. But that's all water under the bridge right now.
