Assuming the characters are from a different part of the galaxy, and the empire wiped out loads of jedi, it's can be assumed stories were passed down sparingly that an order tried to fight the empire.
My complaints are that it's too much like the OT, with a trench run on a new Death Star, a female Yoda character (Maz Kanata), not-Darth Vader (Kylo Ren), a small town in the desert (Finn looking over what looks like Mos Eisley).
The Knights of Ren looked intriguing, Poe being tortured or whatever looked intense, that castle front (I'm guessing Maz's) with the droid walking out looks interesting. I'll have to see the movie first before I truly shit on it.
