The Falcon really should've been destroyed when they blew up the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. They set it up so well for Lando's redemption.

Vader is redeemed dies an honorable death.. that's sort of emotional.

Seeing that film as a teenager and having grown up with Darth Vader as the biggest villain of all time, I wanted Luke to cut his head off.

I get the feeling that Han will die in ep.7 and Finn will end up owning it next. Sort of like the old guy passing the torch the the young guy, if you get me. Also because they need to sell more Falcon toys. But mostly the later.
