My friends have told me that The Clone Wars is infinitely better than Rebels. Just finished watching TCW and honestly it went from a 4 to a 10 by the end of the series. Is this true? And how does didney manage to fuck it up

Imo, i only consider TCW to have any relevance to the canon, Didney can suck it

I never could get into Rebels. It just feels really "cheap" to me for some reason.

 No.8127

Rebels tries too hard to be firefly, Whedon snarkness and all. Hard to watch.

Clone Wars is much more interesting and the troopers aren't complete retards.

Cheap? Do they have 13 year old mary sues or something? I know its disney but it does pump out decent narratives from time to time. Hell the Ashoka-Vader relationship could be interesting and the show could show how the Empire consolidated

>>8127 Whats Firefly? I never heard about it

Thats a show from SciFy isnt it? I generally dont try to watch channels that pride themselves on producing shit

Trying to get through the movie and 1st season to get to the good shit

When does it get good?

By cheap I was referring more to the production values.

They're not necessarily bad, just not as good as Clone Wars. And considering it's made by a conglomerate that includes Pixar, there's really no excuse for that.

>Not knowing what Firefly is

At least Google it, dude. That's the only good thing Whedon ever made (though my personal distaste for the man kinda soured it for me).

Haven't heard much out of him since the leg beard cannibalized him for Age of Ultron and chased him off twitter. Think he's learned his lesson about shacking up with the mentally ill?

1 season is horrible, especially with all the "wacky" droid dialogue, and quite honestly the witty quips that the main characters keep saying grind my ears. They dont stop, which is the worst part. TCW gets good around the end of season 2-ish, then its upwards the slope. Its really, really good, honestly one of the last top tier series's that CN greenlit in the last couple of years

The Clone Wars seasons 3-6>Rebels>The Clone Wars seasons 1-2

No anon, his failure was clearly due to his own inherent white privilege.

Guess I'll post these here, haven't watched CW or Rebels myself, save for the movie and a few random episodes of both.

Are you mentally retarded?

SciFi channel airs copious amounts of syndicated media. I bet you think they made Babylon 5 & Andromeda.

They also bought up a few productions, such as Lexx.

Firefly was aired on Fox, they canceled it due to it being one of the Fox network's lowest points- a revolving door of fuckwit network execs.

It also had a feature film produced a few years ago with a theatrical release to tie up the series in a pretty lil' bow.

My point is, don't be so smug and proud of your ignorance.

Started watching the Clone Wars cartoon cause wondering what the fuss was about. This is actually decent shit. Disappointed though a Mandator Dreadnought didn't make a cameo.

 No.11928

Rebels is pretty meh so far. Not as interesting as TCW, even with some of the old characters hanging around. I'm still hoping it turns out like TCW did- kind of shit in the beginning but great in the end.

Both are shit.

TCW destroyed previously established EU canon even before Disney came into the picture and Rebels is just plain boring for anyone who is not a 7-year old, I should know I've watched almost every episode with the exception of season 1 pilot maybe.

In addition to destroying old canon, TCW changed the droid army from a dangerous threat to the Republic that could go head to head with it militarily (if Sidious didn't actively sabotage their efforts) to nothing but pure comic relief that lost every battle they fought against the clones because they were fooled by literally paper thin schemes.

I mean for fuck's sake why did they even make the battle droids talk at all, they are droids built for the sole purpose of waging war, they are not supposed to have a personality. Couldn't they just communicate in binary instead of basic when they are among themselves through some sort of communication network similar to the Holonet.

And don't even get me started on Grievous and how they downgraded him to a raging idiot who can't even beat a Padawan like Ahsoka who just got of training in the academy and who is incapable of winning a single battle if its against the Republic or any of the main characters of the series.

Now I know its supposed be targeted towards kids (and their parents) but come on they could have at least made the Jedi and the clones lose a few battles every now and then to make their struggle against the endless droid horde seem more real and not a constant curbstomp by the Republic against an army made up of droids who trip over themselves constantly and end up shooting each other by accident as a result.

The only redemption I could see for either series is if they featured an episode in the Rebels where they introduce the EU concept of Separatist holdouts in which the crew of the Ghost meet up with rogue battle droids and some other former members of the CIS military who are still resisting the Empire even though the war ended years ago, it would give a chance for the Separatists to redeem themselves for all the shitty things they apparently did during the clone wars if nothing else.

They should have just revived that Genndy show. The only problem the 2003 series had was that it was mostly action and less of story and dialogue.

Im OP, i getchu fam. Youre right, tcw is nice and all, but its a downgrade

You want battle droids to become the Geth? Then they should get smarter as more of them are around and when their numbers dwindle it's easier to rout or take them out.

>And don't even get me started on Grievous and how they downgraded him to a raging idiot who can't even beat a Padawan like Ahsoka who just got of training in the academy and who is incapable of winning a single battle if its against the Republic or any of the main characters of the series.

The only time Grievous was ever treated like a dangerous badass was in the Tarakovsky Clone Wars cartoon that played as the setup to Episode III. He only uses his four-arm trick once at the very end of the series. Despite the problems Tartakovsky had like >>11943 said, the story was weak and the art wasn't exactly something I liked, even though Samurai Jack was fine, he made up for it with quality action scenes. Because he, unlike Prequels Lucas or Disney or JJ, understood that villains and antagonists should be as powerful or even more threatening and dangerous than the already powerful main characters. Otherwise there's no real tension and the action scenes become vacuous.

>Now I know its supposed be targeted towards kids

Strange, the people I talked to who watched the Original Trilogy in theaters when they were kids claimed that Star Wars was considered a kids movie. I wonder how we went backwards from not being shy of violence towards the heroes or even losing like in Empire. It should be no surprise that they didn't like any of the new stuff Disney made for Rebels or Episode VII

>it would give a chance for the Separatists to redeem themselves for all the shitty things they apparently did during the clone wars if nothing else

That always confused me. Why were Separatists declared bad guys for no reason other to have battle scenes between clones and their droids? Sure a few of the leadership and his loyal followers were dark side users and carried big scary red lightsabers, but even they don't commit enough atrocities to justify a galaxy wide war. And the fact that outside of stuff like the Umbara and resistance arcs in TCW, there were hardly any parties involved in the war outside of clones and droids. The rest just funneled money to build warships I guess. I never felt like anything was ever at stake in this war; nothing to gain if you win, nothing to lose if you lost. So what was the fucking point of this whole war? Just a contrived over-convoluted way of getting SHEEV to become the Emperor?

>Star Wars was considered a kids movie

it always has been

george understood this, disney does not. people need to stop putting star wars so high on a fucking pedestal when it's just another b-grade sci-fi adventure romp, but with a bigger than average budget.
