So after ROJ, rather than putting the screws to the remnants of the Empire, all the forces in the galaxy just said 'fuck it - it's not like they're going to re-gather, built more advanced ships, train more troops and build another larger super weapon…'

If our OT heroes couldn't stabilize the galaxy in 30 years, what hope does the new batch have? There's no reason to believe they have greater skills and that the galaxy at large even gives a shit. If they did, they would have fixed things when they had the chance.

 No.8355

my understanding is that this battle of jakku makes the new republic think that the empire is basically done for good. it seems that the first order scoured to some back corner of the outer rim and rebuilt away from society, hence this not-hoth/yavin planet being terraformed into the not-death star 3

 No.8360

>>8355

and why is their foe La Resistance?

 No.8366

>>8360

supposed to be local militias and what have you, with unofficial support from the new republic.

 No.8725

Well they're durka durka moderate rebells. What did you expect?

 No.8729

The new movie is going to be trash just like the prequels.

The old EU had a very detailed and largely consistent storyline of the developments which took place after the Battle of Endor. But of course they've got to disregard all of that and make up some stupid implausible crap for… reasons.

 No.8746

EU had the Remnant Empire still around, then you also had multiple dark side cults doing their own thing.

Seems the Empire got its shit slapped.

It was probably too late.

Poor Piett. Guy was based.

i hope general hux is his son

>>8750

correct me if i'm wrong, but the ssd in the movie is upside down, and that doesn't look much like it's crashing upside down.

 No.8792

>>8790

I always thought it crashed right side up.

Anyhoo, that image is the precise moment it got hit, it wouldn't be drifting for a while longer.

figured i'd check the trailer

still looks upside down to me. the ship must get real fucked up in orbit or something and spiral on its descent.

It's coming down on its side and as it gets closer to the ground it's slowly flipping onto its back.

 No.8843

>>8794

I thought you were referring to the Executor.

 No.8844

>>8843

u wot m8

the executor was destroyed in the battle of endor

it also wasn't the only super star destroyer

 No.8846

>>8750

[Muffled Sand People cries of elation in the background]

 No.8860

>>8844

I mistakenly took your image of the A-Wing crashing into the Executor's bridge out of context, and thought you were talking about it crashing into the DS2.

>it also wasn't the only super star destroyer

I thought it was the only one in existence circa 4 ABY, all costs considered. Seems silly they'd make another some thirty odd years later.

 No.8865

>>8860

oh, i didn't post the a-wing stuff. and the battle of jakku only happened a year after rotj, so even though the emperor was dead the empire was still operating.

 No.9029

>>8729

>The old EU had a very detailed and largely consistent storyline of the developments which took place after the Battle of Endor.

Largely, until the Vong arrived and fucked the canon interpretation of the Force, among other things…

 No.9065

Not even Thrawn, not even him they choose to use. Turn the focus away from "Jedi/Sith antagonists", innovate, a non force user enemy.
