It's not terrible, but the story is really over the top and cringeworthy.

Kylo Ren and Rey are pretty sub-par in terms of characters.

Literally just a repeat of episode 4 in terms of overall narrative

Funnily enough, the black guy, Finn, is easily the best new character they added. He's actually fucking 3 dimensional and not a melodramatic bitch like Rey.

I really wish Vader could come back from the grave and fucking decapitate this autistic edgelord Kylo Ren.

It's not a movie, it is a SJW manure. If it was just over the top it would have been okay – and even if you kept all the SJW bullshit in it then it would just have been a crappy movie… but this flick managed to do one worse as the pacing is shot to hell and the entire thing is just the characters hopping from one place to another and meeting people without any real reason as to why they would just happen to run across them at that point in time. The movie doesn't even know when to end as it doesn't understand that the whole movie should have been about Han Solo since they killed him off… instead the movie continues to show us more BS Mary Sue crap long after the Han died – and then rubs it ion our faces as they give noname fat tumblr background pilots close ups when they cheer after the planet explodes.

Yes han Solo was great as was Chewie – and that little robot BB8 was a better comic sidekick that R2 will ever be.

BUT, a few good scenes and one good actor does not make a movie.

TL;DR

The flick is shit – get over it SJW shill

What do you mean by "noname fat tumblr background pilots"? Are you just throwing buzzwords together, or did JJ honestly give some dyed haired dyke a close-up? Details?

 No.9227

>>9224

When the pilots have finished blowing up the Sun Destroyer, they give us closeups (in the pilot seats) of three of the five pilots. As it happens to be, aside from the only named pilot (Pun or whatever his name was) the other two pilots are fat. One is a fat dude that looks like those fedora weraring bros that can't grow a proper beard, and the other one is a pudgy looking tumblr woman in her early thirties that looks like she belongs in a zoo. Neither of them are of any importance so it seemed obvious that they were included to show us that fat useless peopel also can blow up "death stars".

 No.9228

>>9224

As to whether or not her hair was dyed – I have no idea as she wore a helmet in the scene and you only see her when she is flying her X-wing. She is noname because she only appeared when showing her as a pilot – she has no story and is of no importance, yet the constantly pan to her and the fat dude during the whole attack on Sun Destroyer. Sure we had a fat guy in the first star wars movie, but he was realistically blown up by better pilots. These guys are just backgroudn characters – token fat people given importance even though they weren't relevant to begin with. Instead of giving Han's death scene some meaning, they give us cheering fat people.

I saw no fat, tumblr stereotype. He's making shit up. It was just an average looking woman piloting an X-Wing. She wasn't even overweight. Greg Grunberg (the 'neckbeard') was. That's it. He's leaving out the alien pilot because it's not as edgy or cynical to leave him in his version of the story.

>>9211

How delusional must you be to be seeing SJWs in everywhere and everything. The only 'SJW' moments were those cringe-worthy girl power scenes between Finn and Rey at the beginning.

>>9179

I wouldn't say it sucks either, I'd say it's 'meh', but even that level of 'praise' is enough to make me a confirmed Disney hire.

>I wouldn't say it sucks either, I'd say it's 'meh', but even that level of 'praise' is enough to make me a confirmed Disney hire.

Remember when The Phantom Menace came out and people thought it was awesome after leaving the cinemas? Also the critics raved about the new Star Trek movies but they have exactly the same problems as this flick: they tried to suck too much fanboi dick.

The only issue I had with TFA were the obvious casting choices based on hiring suck-ups who just wanted to be in a Star Wars movie. That and the scientific explanation to how they contained a star in the core of the "Death Star MK3", "thermomagnetic containment field" is a lot less interesting than "magic" (which they virtually have in the Star Wars universe) and it's something that our civilisation could have in the next 50 years, let alone a civilisation obviously thousands of years more advanced than us.

I would call those small gripes, though.

 No.9248

>>9241

>I saw no fat, tumblr stereotype. It was just an average looking woman piloting an X-Wing.

See that red haired feminist in the post you just replied too? her face is pudgy. The "average looking" woman you refer to was similarly pudgy. Pudgy is a form of fat. I didn't call her grossly obese… I called her pudgy – like kebab eating tumblrs. You know? the kind that are "only" some 15kg overweight.

>He's leaving out the alien pilot

Nope. The alien pilot appeared briefly during the start of the fight and if I recall correctly once when they flew in. He was NEVER shown when they flew out of the Sunkiller and it blew up. Only the pudgy woman, the fat neckbeard and Poe were shown. Poe had to be shown because he was their captain – but the other two were picked because they represented tumblrs.

>>9242

Again – nope. He didn't appear when the planet exploded.

>>9241

>How delusional must you be to be seeing SJWs in everywhere and everything.

JJ.Abrahams is an SJW. He deliberately focused on background characters that were spics and females just to show everyone how "diverse" and "progressive" he was.

>The only 'SJW' moments were those cringe-worthy girl power scenes between Finn and Rey at the beginning.

Haha no. Those were actually pretty tame when comparing to all the other shit was pulled in the movie. Like the fucking female Yoda, deliberately being a kugger that was calling Chewie a "boy" just to show us that "old ladies can treat big hairy men with sex in mind" because not only men like sex. THAT was cringe-worthy.

>I wouldn't say it sucks either

But it did suck – and not because it was full of SJW bullshit. It sucked because the pacing was crap, the story telling didn't make sense – the main protagonist was a Mary Sue – the main villain was lackluster and not important… ect ect ect ect ad infinitum.

>I say yes, but done right

If "hipster with no background" means "done right" in your opinion… then sure.

>there's no boring sitting or pacing dialogue scenes.

Yes yes, instead we get shit pacing where the characters hop from one place to another and randomly happen across shit and important characters just – you know "because". It was shit writing on 14 year old fanfic writer level. Fuck, even Michael Bay pace his movies better.

>You people are trying way too hard to be edgy

Pointing out that the movie was shit is trying to be edgy? Was that what happened when people raged on Jarjar and said he was crap? Were people just trying to be egdy back then?

>and seem smarter than the average viewer.

Again, your post doesn't help your case.

>it was way more Star Wars than the prequels.

No, it wasn't. The prequels were shit, and their inclussion of R2 and C3P0 was crap… but this new movie is just a sheep in wolfs clothing. It uses stuff that is familiar, with a rehashed script – to give us basically the same movie as New hope – only less good. This movie was shit – it didn't even try to be it's own movie. It was just a vehicle for JJ so that he could make Star Wars "less of a white page".

 No.9250

>>9241

>How delusional must you be to be seeing SJWs in everywhere and everything. The only 'SJW' moments were those cringe-worthy girl power scenes between Finn and Rey at the beginning.

And the fact Rey is a boring mary-sue who is better than everyone, learn to use the force out of nowhere and turns to be the new Millenium Falcon pilot (no, not Chewie, Han's biggest friend)

> I say yes, but done right.

Then why is he so incompetent and whiny? Even Anakin was stronger than him - and less whiny.

> No, what's happening on screen is very clear, and there's no boring sitting or pacing dialogue scenes.

But it does have the typical boring JJ Abrams action scenes, weak villains and rushed story.

> no

Yes.

> You people are trying way too hard to be edgy and seem smarter than the average viewer. Yes, it rhymed with A New Hope, but it was still fun and a bit sad. Could have been much better, but it was way more Star Wars than the prequels. You're breaking no grounds with your gripes, and everyone can see what you're doing.

No, I'm pointing the fact the movie sucked. And yes, the average viewer is dumb; you don't need to "try hard" to be smarter than them. You seem to be too phlegmatic towards the movie, as if mediocrity can be fun and it's ok to have a Star Wars movie like this, because it seems that "being better than the prequels" is enough even if the movie is still shit.

I don't think so! And here's what WILL happen:

>fans will point out how shit his movie is because of the obvious pandering crap, you know, just like now

>instead of listening to the actually fans, JJ will call them racist is make the movie just as SJW as the last, if not more

>fans will reject the new trilogy as Disney continues to get ca$h from to retarded normies and their snot covered children who eat this shit up

>normies and SJWs become the new audience while we wallow in our scraps, if we even get any

>Star Wars gets so fucked by social justice that it makes comics and video games look red pilled in comparison. Trans character, new kewl black characters, strong independent wyman, etc…

JJ isn't making the next movie, its another SJW director that is even worse than him from what I gather.

Most likely they aregoing to make this new female protagonist into the person that the propechy referred to. You know "the one that will bring balance to the force".

In Rey's dream/destiny sequence there is a scene where Luke Skywalker kneels in front of her and hands her his light saber.

 No.9276

And that is what scares me. Disney went full on SJW after Bob Igor took over the company. Walt is turning over in his grave knowing damn well what Bob is doing to his baby.

>>9255

Its like Phantom Menace all over again. Fanboys at first loved it, and then a few weeks to a year later the hate piled on more and more. Trust me Rey is going to be pretty much hated soon by the die hard fanboys for being too "perfect" and Kylo will be considered the worst villain of all time in Star Wars history.

I can't wait for RLM and Plinkett to tear into this movie. Yeah I know RLM like Jew Jew, but even they are going to have Plinkett tear this movie a new asshole

 No.9283

>>9278

I always loved Star Wars but when I first saw Phantom Menace – less than ONE minute into it I realized it was shit. The thing starts of with a horrible sounding alien language, then two Jedi's walking around on the alien ship and being boring. Then the aliens show up and they look like Kermit. Then the idiotic robots show up – after which a crappy battle takes place and the Jedi crash on the planet. The planet looks like it's on earth and not alien at all. Then JarJar shows up – and I'm surprised I didn't walk out of the cinema.

Now the new movie – the first scene that had be raise my eyebrow was the panning in on the fighters that prepared to fight the First Order. The first person/background character you see take up arms and get ready – is a Mexican looking woman. There are other background characters in that scene, but she is the only one in focus.

So I went "huh… oookay… that felt weird."

Then when Finn showed up I wasn't actually finding him as crappy as I thought I would – but overal the movie was riddled with crap.

In fact, it seems they didn't even quality check the lines properly as Fin when asked by Han Solo if was ready replies:

"Hell no".

See this is problematic. "hell" is a specific name humans have for what we believe to happen in the afterlife – and this name has then made it into normal speech where it also works as an added "ompf".

But why "the hell" would they use that word in speech in a galaxy far far away?

They say stuff like: "may the force with you" instead of "god bless"…

So words like "hell" should have been changed to fit as well. Maybe a word like "shades!!" or something referring to the dark side – or maybe just an alien word like "eechuba" or similar.

"hell no" is just ghetto slang and has absolutely no place in a Star Wars movie.

It didn't feel like Star Wars. It was more like Divergent wearing Star Wars' clothes.

The Original Trilogy was primitive. It's the PT and EU that really expanded the universe and made it vast. An Ep 7, fine, could be set after RoTJ, but stylistically it needs to build on the advances of the PT and EU. If it just looks back to the OT, then it's going to feel lackluster.

Which is exactly what happened. The feeling in the PT and EU was jettisoned in favor of the feeling of the OT, which just ends up making this film be a re-fitting of the OT, as people have pointed out before already.

But, to me, this just didn't feel like Star Wars. It just felt like something that wants to be the Original Trilogy but which fails.

No, the planet has a definete "earth feel" to it right when they meet Jarjar for the first time.

>>9321

True, Ham Solo did use the word "hell" and I did notice it – but at least he didn't use as an idiom or as interjection.

>>9405

damn is not a specific place. As for Crusades, yes that one is a bit bad as the word crusades etymology comes from the word cross… but unlike "hell" it isn't so tightly tied to our language as hell is.

>>9326

Yes I reacted to it when Leia said that as well – it was bad back then and it is bad now. It is inserting language of a specific type that feels out of place. Yet – it still isn't as bad as having a black man "talk black". For instance, could you really say it was okay if Finn started using he word "nigger"? Nigger of course just means "black", but it is so deeply entrenched into ghetto culture that hearing the word punctures the fantasy feel.

As for "President" however there is no problem since the words etymology is derived from "to preside over". I.E to oversee. Palpatin became the Overseer.

>>9329
