gentlemen, i believe i have the answer

the crew was sent in waves on purpose

first, the droids as a plea bargain. that did not work since you can't just send a sex slave and translator and expect compensation.

second, leia and chewie. a disguise meant for one thing: infiltration. only problem here is that rescuing chewie would become a secondary objective and would waste more time.

third, and finally: luke himself. now, the reason he put his lightsaber into r2-d2 was in the event of luke's capture, and because luke walked in with the idea that he could walk out with chewie, han and leia, killing jabba would be the last option, but not one he wouldn't have a problem making.

lando was sent ahead of the whole thing as recon.

How did Han learned to bypass the Starkiller base shield? Not even Finn knew about it.

The Starkiller base gets close to a STAR to draw its energy… And nothing happens in the planet. An ice planet.

did you watch the movie?

there was a recon team that did a sweep on the base, they were able to find out about the shields from that. han learned the hyperspace trick from some other time apparently.

So they just looked at it from the space? Weird. Also, the shield doesn't block ships using hyperspace because ____ ? Because the heroes need to enter the base of course

Tell me one. Also, it isn't just because it's an ice planet. The planet get pretty close to a star and its climate isn't affected at all. Nothing.

Maybe they have some shield that prevents any climate change, making the planet's climate stable. But it would be more interesting to have a hot-themed planet instead. Like Sullust

Because this was a personal mission. Leia was a high-up with the Alliance but they where not her personal army. They where not there for her beckon and call. Also, Jabba was a very important Hutt. The Alliance wouldn't want to sour the relations with the hutt kajidics over one single guy.
