Alright. We have seen many of the negative aspects and nitpicky negative aspects about the movie. Now I plan on introducing a thread to chew on the positive sides of the new movie - and by extension, the new EU and setting. However, do prove me wrong if you can.
The inspiration of the setting
I found many correlations with Jedi Knight 1, actually. Especially in regards to the space monsters and the underside of the galaxy. Far more prominent than even in OT.
>Starkiller base interiors, especially the depths
>Knights of Ren are not Sith, but rather a rogue group of Jedi- much like Jerec and his gang
>Focus on relics of the old
The galaxy feels dangerous, and there no longer are any major powers on the scale of CIS, Empire or the Republics after the movie
Imperial remnant is now the First order and lost one of their main bases and their greatest asset (beyond force) and the New republic is done for.
Of course, we do not quite know how strong the First order or the resistance is, but we've only seen one star destroyer and a few ships the resistance had. Starkiller base must have cost much more than Death Star projects, which were a money sink like no other.
it could have actually been cheaper due to the fact that they had atmosphere, but I doubt it; they had to fight gravity when traversing the planet- no rationalizing the price
It seems that there has been technological advancement, but not much other
>New Republic failed and the rebels were seen for what they were.
>we might see new factions, at least in new EU
They can go any direction now. It felt like a movie meant to establish the narrative. Which is fine, beyond the modern political narrative. But hey, at least they admit that Apple fans are evil.
