Why has there been so much talk about LENR's lately? I though the scientific community would be obliged to write anything in this field off as pure imagination, but layman don't seem to be the only people getting hyped.

Since there has been so much misinformation about this subject, where can we go to view actual research being done? I seem to be finding plenty of alien conspiracy theorists making claims, but not much being peer-reviewed by actual scientists.
