As you follow the slime trail, it leads you past a small pond on the way to the pier. Suddenly, small bubble appears on the surface, the bubble glides through the water, and then rolls onto the land, revealing that it is a large bubble of slime.
Since the trail doesn't lead into or out of the pond you can assume this slime isn't the cause of the kidnapping, but it seems hostile.
