Welcome to Thread 4 of The Adventures of Battlegirl. For those of you who have missed part 3 of the saga you can find it here
>>9963

In the Adventures of Battlegirl, you take on the role of Megan Thompson (a.k.a. Battlegirl) a non-powered martial artist superheroine trying to make a new name for herself in her new home of Utopolis while maintaining her secret identity as a college freshman at the Central Utopolis Metropolitan University (CUMU).

The tl;dr version of last thread is as follows: You and your best friend/roommate, Kelly, attended a party at a frat house hosted by friends of your neighbor Tony. Unfortunately for you and Kelly, the first beer you had REALLY did not mix with the combination of chemicals in your body at the time. As a result, you got extremely wasted on your first drink and made a huge scene, forcing Kelly to take you home – ruining the party for both of you. The next day, you found out from Tony that you two got the lead roles in your Drama Society's production of Romeo and Juliet. You met up with Kelly, met her new friend (your neighbor Gabby), and made up with her for ruining her time at the party. You followed up with telling her about having the part of Juliet opposite of Tony in the play. Following that, you reunited with your theatrical crime-fighting partner, MacDeath, and exchanged superheroic contact information. You and MacDeath fought four members of the gang the Surgeon Generals, resulting in four arrests that you ended up taking solo credit for (through no fault of your own). You followed up your superheroics by tutoring a troubled high school student (receiving $45 in compensation), then hanging out with your nerdy neighbors Isaac and Hideo.

Also for those of you who are here just for the sexy scenes I'm sorry to report, but there's pretty much nothing for you last thread, we did too good. Not even enough close calls for me to think of a worthwhile gallery story. You're probably better off skipping it, reading the summary, and continuing here, where hopefully you'll get something to work with

If you see a name of a character and have no idea who they are, I recommend you pop into last thread or the one before and ctrl + F their name. Most of the characters really don’t have that much going on yet, so their introductions should fill you in on most of what you need to know.

Your stats
Money: $45
Respect: 780/1000 – You are a respected member of the local Superhero community
Intimidation: 550/1000 – Criminals don't take you totally seriously, but they don't take you lightly either

Anyway, without further ado, let us continue

The Adventures of Battlegirl

Where we left off: You just finished playing fighting games with Isaac and Hideo, but as you were ready to head back to your room, you spotted a collage of pictures of Superheroines (including yourself) as Isaac's computer's desktop background. Playing dumb, you asked him what it was, to which he explained that he's a fan of superheroic women. You followed up by asking him which one of the photographed women was his favorite…

0aa736 No.14281

“So…” despite trying to play it cool, a smile cracks on your face, “Which one is your favorite?”

“M-my favorite? Th-that's a tough question! How c-can I choose between the grace of Piroutte, the speed of Lady Lightning, the f-fantastic fighting ladies of the Mega Ranger Brigade, and the strength and ferocity of Miss Fire, b-but…”

“But…?”

“Th-there is one that does stand out among the others. She's p-pretty new to the local scene, but from what all the f-forums say, she doesn't have any discernible powers. She's b-been taking on thugs too ruthless and morally dubious f-for the rest of the superheroines. They pr-prefer to deal with b-big superpowered threats or do s-small good deeds like saving c-cats from trees, wh-which is alright, but they have superpowers backing themselves up. B-Battlegirl has taken on b-both of the m-major gangs in the city and she's been here less than a week (a-as far as we know).”

You've gotten about as much information as you think you could get out of Isaac without looking too suspicious, but if you want you can go ahead and press your luck and keep asking him about superheroines.

What do you want to do?

A) Go back to your room to bed and call it a night
B) Ask Isaac for information about the exploits of one of the superheroines (medium charisma)
C) Ask Isaac about the forums he was talking about (hard charisma)
D) Ask Hideo if he has a favorite (easy charisma)

You really should be on your way. Even if you did want to learn more about the other superheroines and the community that seems to have popped up around them, it's not worth the risk of raising your neighbors' suspicion of you. You decide you're better off getting to sleep. You leave Isaac and Hideo's room and go back to your own room. Kelly is already in her bed, so you try to be as quiet as you can when you lock the door, change into your pajamas, and lie down in your bed. Your mind reflects back on your past day, which has gone unexpectedly successfully. You managed to confirm that you landed the part of Juliet in the play, you made up with Kelly (and broke that news to her), re-united with MacDeath, easily arrested four Surgeon Generals, tutored a struggling high-school student named Kyle, and learned how to play fighting games. For once, nothing went wrong. You drift off to sleep content with your successful day.

You dream about your days fighting crime alongside your adopted father and mentor, Battleman, in your hometown of Battle Hill. Those days were much simpler for you; you were never groped, stripped, fucked, or impregnated by the very same people you're looking to protect the public from. That mostly owed to the fact that you were constantly under the over-protective and watchful eye of your mentor. The other part of it was simply that crime where you were from simply wasn't as rough. There would be colorful characters in colorful costumes pulling off big, even absurd crimes, but no one really got hurt that much most of the time. Here in Utopolis, though, crime seems to be rougher, tougher, and better organized. A fantastical thought pops in your head: your roommate Kelly already knows what you do and she's in pretty good shape herself. Maybe if she joined your war on crime, you'd be safer. But you couldn't endanger your best friend like that, could you?

You awaken from some weird combination of sleep and introspection to find that it's about 8:00 in the morning, and Kelly is still in her bed asleep. You take care of all your usual morning business as quietly as possible and think about the day ahead of you. You are expected to be at your play's rehearsal in the afternoon, but otherwise, the day is yours to do with what you will. What do you want to do?

A) Go to church
B) Train for the day ahead
C) Go on an early morning superheroic patrol
D) Look into what part-time jobs you can do now

You feel the need to prepare yourself for the day ahead. Considering that Kelly is still asleep you feel that you shouldn't wake her, so you resolve to work out elsewhere today. You put on a sports bra, wear a comfortable tank top over it, and slip on some jogging shorts and go on a long jog around your campus, taking in the sight of the nearby parks and recreational facilities. You don't want to make it too clear to anyone that you are a martial artist, so you refrain from practicing any punches, kicks, or blocks in public. You stop by one of the parks not far from your building and do some various aerobic exercises such as squat thrusts and jumping jacks. When you finally feel too tired to continue, you start doing various challenging stretches. While you stretch, you make an effort to hold yourself in manners similar to grapples you've been under in the past (refraining from doing anything too lewd like grabbing your own tits) and try to think how you should fight out of the situation should it come up again. You did what you thought was best at the times, but you feel that doing thought exercises like this will make you better suited to responding to the same situations, at least as long as you have the results in mind. You finish stretching and muster up enough resolve to jog back to your room, where you shower and change into daytime civilian clothes. Your workout guarantees that you will have a temporary +5 bonus to combat rolls for today.

After your shower, you get back to your room and find it empty. On your desk you find a piece of printer paper with handwriting on it that you recognize as Kelly's. It reads:

“Megan

While you were out Gabby invited me to a party going on at the frat house for the football game our team is playing against some small-time technical college. We're expecting a blow-out, so we're really there more to have a good time than to actually watch the game. Anyway, I'm leaving this note to tell you where I am so you won't have to go looking. You're invited too, but considering what happened last party you went to, I'd do something else and keep my head low if I were you.

Take care,

K<3lly”

Now what do you do?

A) Go to the party
B) Go on patrol
C) Go hang out with Isaac and Hideo (the only neighbors of yours you can count on not attending that party)

You opt out of going to the party. Kelly is right, if you don't go now, chances are your little incident will be mostly forgotten. If you do go to the party, you'll be risking your reputation for that kind of behavior spreading. You decide if Kelly's going to hang out with Tony and Gabby, maybe you should get better acquainted with your other neighbors, Isaac and Hideo. Isaac's conversation with you last night affirmed that at least your alter ego is respected by them (but there surely have to be other pictures of you they could have used for the collage than the ass shot). In any case, you enjoyed the chance to learn how to play fighting games last night. Those video game things are actually pretty enjoyable.

You change into a typical civilian outfit: panties, blue jeans, a bra, and a t-shirt; which you follow up by heading to Isaac and Hideo's room. You knock on the door, and to your surprise, you aren't greeted by Isaac this time. It's the third member of the Anime Club, Becky. She's wearing a blue blouse and blue jeans. A look of bewilderment crosses Becky's face as she looks at you. “Oh, hey, it's… what's her name again?” she asks into the room, Isaac and Hideo are both looking on, but neither can work up the will to answer Becky. Becky addresses you again, “Anyway, what did you want?”

What do you tell her?

A) You wanted to play video games with your neighbors
B) You wanted to play with your neighbors
C) You wanted to play with Isaac and Hideo
D) You were just stopping by to say hi
E) You want to join the Anime Club

she is a nerdette. She is extremely territorial over the relatively few males that would give her a lot of attention, much less place her on a pedestal (as Isaac and Hideo do, though I haven't clearly established it). She's jealous that you're better looking and doesn't want to risk "losing" Isaac and Hideo to you.

As far as getting her to cool down it'll be hard to convince her to not be intimidated by you, but she might be receptive to flattery or something (depending on charisma checks). She probably won't buy you being completely lesbo for her though.

With a smirk on your face, you tell Becky “I wanted to play with Isaac and Hideo.” This is as inflammatorily as you could have worded the technically true response. If you were a better flirt, you probably could have twirled your finger in your hair while you said it, but the truth is you're pretty inexperienced with that kind of stuff yourself. Still, it is enough to provoke Becky.

“You… you slut! Why couldn't you just find your own guys? Why did you have to try to steal mine?” With that, Becky actually tackles you, starting a catfight between you two. She's not good enough of a fighter (or heavy enough) to actually knock you down, but she has a grip around your waist and she joins you in the hallway. You find yourself at a bit of an impasse, you wanted to piss Becky off for sure, but only because she started off with the passive aggressiveness. Now that you've got a fight on your hands that not only Becky, but Isaac and Hideo are also watching, you're risking unveiling your power level if you do too good. But if you lose, your pride will be wounded and you don't know how vindictive of a winner Becky would be.

What is your course of action?

A) Talk Becky down from fighting (hard charisma check)
B) Struggle against her hold intent on winning (easy strength check)
C) Struggle against her hold trying to make it look like a fight (medium strength check)
D) Throw the fight and suffer whatever humiliation she deems appropriate

Nah that's not me, if you decide you want to humiliate her once you're free it's fine by me. Battlegirl may be a superhero, but Megan is a little pissed off at being called a slut. It's fine if she acts a little different than if she usually does in this case. Although it will be up to you how far you want to take it, should consensus go with B (as it is right now) or C. Similarly it's fine to decide that Megan ought to act like the bigger person and not go too far.

It's all up to you, but I'd recommend bearing in mind that the fact that Isaac and Hideo are watching will have repercussions with both your relationship with them and Becky's relationship with them.

Even though the vote's pretty one-sided thus far, I'll let it go on until I finish dinner. Then I'll ask for a roll and it will be settled.

You pry Becky's arms off of you using your real power. It's a bit more of a struggle than you anticipated, but you manage to completely free yourself from Becky's hold on you. Now you're capable of taking control of this encounter, since you're free of her grasp. Your rage at being insulted and attacked almost unprovoked makes you want to humiliate Becky, but you also feel as though you shouldn't take it so personally. Then again, now might be a good time to diffuse the whole situation and wash your hands of it.

What do you do?

A) Try to calm Becky down (hard charisma check) (a little easier than last time)
B) Flee to your room (easy agility check)
C) Grab one of Becky's arms and twist it behind her back to establish dominance (medium combat check)
D) Just go for groping her tits (easy agility check)

You keep your distance and wait for Becky to reach out to make a move. Becky tries to wrap you up again, but you see her arms in front of her and take advantage of her inexperience by intercepting one of them and twisting them behind Becky's back. You stand behind her, facing Isaac and Hideo's room. From here, you can use your dominance in any way, You can take steps to humiliate Becky, you can use your command of the situation to relocate the fight out of the hallway, or you can use your position to negotiate for her surrender.

What do you do? (all checks will be followed by a combat check to see if you can maintain your hold)

B) Try to push Becky into Isaac and Hideo's room (easy strength check)
C) Grope Becky's tits and taunt her (easy combat check, easy charisma check, harder to maintain hold)

Using your vastly superior leg strength, you push Becky out of the hallway into Isaac and Hideo's room, but as an unintended result of your pushing, your crotch slams repeatedly into Becky's backside, stimulating her a little. Isaac and Hideo move out of your way as you need to get into their room and close the door behind you, so as to not let either of you get into trouble for this fight. Unfortunately for you, your hold over Becky weakens while you do your push, so much so that despite her lack of skill, she is able to totally reverse your hold on her and lock you into the same position.

What do you do now?

A) Try to talk her out of the fight (hard charisma check)
B) Struggle out of her hold over you (easy strength check)
C) Try to reverse the hold (medium combat check)
D) Throw the fight now that your humiliation will only be seen by those in the room

You twist your body and push your arm, easily freeing you from Becky’s grip, restoring you to a neutral fighting position. Becky lets out a frustrated growl as she sees her hold over you once again instantly escaped. Becky tries to kick you, but she is an amateurish fighter compared to the kind of people you used to regularly spar with.

What do you do about the incoming kick?

A) Try to catch it (medium combat check, you grapple Becky)
B) Dodge it (easy combat check)
C) Block it (very easy combat check, but you will get slightly injured)
D) Counter it by getting one in before she can (easy combat check)

Yeah, and the less hurt you are. If she manages to land attacks on you (or arouse you), she'll start feeling more in control of the situation and be harder to negotiate with. But if you're able to show control of the battle, the check to negotiate it to its conclusion becomes increasingly easy.

You attempt to catch the roundhouse kick Becky directs at you, but your arms fail to wrap around her leg fast enough, causing her foot to contact your side as intended without you gaining any advantage over Becky. You’re used to getting hit a bit harder than her kick is, but you still are surprised that a very average girl actually managed to hit you with that kind of force. Taking advantage of your momentary surprise, Becky grabs the side of your t-shirt and pulls it up, exposing your toned midriff and your bra-covered boobs to everyone in the room. Your bra is a very plain white cotton bra, so it’s not too embarrassing, but it’s still something you weren’t intending to show off to Isaac and Hideo. All the while you can hear Becky saying “So you wanted to play with my guys, right? What did you want to play, slut? House? Doctor? You show me yours and I’ll show you mine? Well, how about we get you started!”

Becky’s grip is firmly on your shirt now. You can slip free from her hold if you just slip out of your t-shirt, but then again, you could try to make her lose her hold and not lose your t-shirt. There are no disadvantages to going shirtless in the fight, except that it will be easier for Becky to expose your tits if she wants to.

What do you do?

A) Slip out of your shirt for freedom
B) Try to make her lose her hold of your shirt (easy strength check)

You pry Becky’s hands off your shirt with ease, causing your shirt to fall, once again covering your entire top. You decide that letting go of your grip now would be pointless, now that you’ve got your opponent under your control, you lock her into a very uncomfortable hold from which there is no chance to escape. After minutes of trying and failing to escape your hold, Becky finally swallows her pride and submits. You are in complete control of her surrender, you can cause her to say or do just about anything and she’ll be glad, just so long as you let go.

What do you have her say/do?

You feel a strong temptation to act as territorial as Becky did when she decided to fight you and proclaim that Isaac and Hideo are yours and yours alone to play with, but you resist that urge knowing that it probably won’t play well with anyone in the room. Instead you give Becky very simple terms. You tell her “I just want you to apologize. Go ahead and say that you’re sorry and I’ll let you go.”

Not needing to be told twice, Becky cries out “Alright! Alright! I’m sorry.” You would have preferred if she would have been more specific in her apology, like mentioning that she started the fight, called you a slut, and tried to strip you in front of her friends. In any case, she met your terms, so you let go of your hold on her. Becky immediately collapses on the floor, panting because of all the struggling she had to do to resist your hold. You are victorious and as you stand over your defeated opponent, you observe that Isaac and Hideo are relieved that the fight ended without either of you getting into trouble or destroying any of their property. As soon as she’s collected herself, Becky gets up and leaves the room, slamming the door behind her.

What do you do now?

A) Leave, this really wasn’t worth the effort
B) See if anyone’s up for some more video games
C) See if you can get Isaac and Hideo to show you those anime things

“Look, I know when I showed up there we had a bit of a misunderstanding. When I said I wanted to play with them, I meant I wanted to play video games with them. I hung out with them last night and played some rounds of a fighting game with them and had a lot of fun.”

“Yeah, sure.” Becky’s sarcastic voice responds. “You might be able to fool them, but you can’t fool me, Megan. You don’t actually like video games, you just like attention. You see Isaac and Hideo as an easy source of attention. By pretending to be interested in video games you guarantee that you get to tease them all you want until you get bored and move onto the next group of guys who give you attention. You might even be planning to show off your body while you stream games online using their expertise so that you can get money and attention from desperate guys like that worldwide. I won’t stand for my friends being exploited like that.”

“That’s something people do?” You ask incredulously. “Trust me, Becky, I’m not trying to take advantage of Isaac, Hideo, or anyone else for that matter.”

“That’s the thing, Megan. I don’t trust you.” With that, Becky storms off as she was planning to. You doubt even if you were the most charismatic girl in school that you could get her to come back. You might be able to try once she cools down, but that won’t be until far later.

After all this fighting and talking, it’s getting pretty close to your play’s first rehearsal.

Important note on the effect of rehearsal: Participating in production of Romeo and Juliet will culminate in a live performance on the Third Saturday of the semester. Rehearsals will be on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons taking up the space of time between afternoon and late afternoon leading up to the play. For every rehearsal you attend, you get a +5 bonus to the 1d100 roll governing how well the performance goes the night of the play. For participating in the play, you will be granted a permanent bonus to your charisma, the magnitude of which shall be decided based on how well your performance roll goes and what part you have. Should you miss more than one rehearsal, you will be downgraded in the cast and assigned a lesser role. Lesser roles have lower possible outcomes for the permanent charisma bonus.

Basically how it will work is the first most important roll (Juliet) will result in a charisma bonus that is 1-6 (in order to play the part, you’ll have to attend at least 5 of the 6 rehearsals, guaranteeing a minimum of +25 to your performance roll). For Juliet a roll of 1d100 (without taking the bonus into account) would be broken down as follows:
1-20 0 points
21-40 1 point
41-60 2 points
61-80 3 points
81-100 4 points
Because of the possibility of getting up to 130 101-120 is 5 points and 121-130 is 6 points. The requisite bonus of 25 guarantees you at least get 1 point out of it if you stick with it.

Let’s say you get demoted once. The spread becomes
1-25 0 points
26-50 1 point
51-75 2 points
76-100 3 points
101-120 (max) 4 points

Basically, missing practice too often not only costs you part of your bonus, it costs your potential payout as well. If something in here doesn’t make sense, I’d be glad to clarify

You resolve to go to your rehearsal, but first you have to straighten out this whole situation with Isaac and Hideo. Fortunately, you don’t have far to go. As you turn around from your encounter with Becky, you see Isaac and Hideo just down the hall. They probably weren’t within earshot to hear what Becky accused you of, but they must have been following you and her out of concern. You walk up to them and immediately apologize to them for the fight that broke out. You explain to them that you just wanted to hang out with them and really didn’t do much to provoke Becky. They seem to agree with you as Isaac tells you he really doesn’t know what Becky’s problem was and explains that she doesn’t normally act like that. You start feeling a little pressed for time, so you tell Isaac and Hideo that you would like to have hung out with them, but you have a rehearsal to go to right now. Isaac wishes you luck as the two of them turn around to go back to their room. With your conversation ended, you run off to your rehearsal, which is located in the same room where you normally have your theater class.

As you enter, you see a circle of chairs situated in the middle of the stage. You enter about a minute before the start of rehearsal, so pretty much everyone in the circle looks towards you as you enter. You take an empty seat and look around the circle. Opposite of you is Tony, your neighbor who is playing the part of Romeo. Other than that, the only person in the circle you recognize are your classmate from art class, the short, slim, and blond photography enthusiast named Snaps. In a distinct looking chair sits someone who looks to be in his mid-twenties. He has dark brown hair and glasses that fit his face strikingly well. He appears to have a bit more maturity than the rest of your peers, but at the same time he has some youthful vigor about him. As he speaks up, people’s side conversations end and the rest of the room grows silent.

“I see we’re all here. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the director of this production. My name is Max. I’m a first-year grad student majoring in Theater Direction. As you can guess from my job title, I’ll be in charge of trying to get you all to turn out the best performances you can. Most of you were probably familiar with this play through high school or even earlier, so I expect you know your parts and what role your characters play in the grand scheme of things. You know the passion you’re supposed to evoke either by acting like you’re in love – as I expect from our two romantic leads…” Max gestures towards you and Tony, “…or by helping set the scene for them. Remember, the story of Romeo and Juliet is driven by the strife and hatred the two families feel towards each other. By being passionate in your hatred, you complement the leads’ performances by giving strength to the passion of their love.” Max continues introducing the play and what kind of performances he wants out of you before moving on to more administrative business. “As director, I am not only in charge of coordinating your performances; I also oversee the crew who will be working to bring our production to life and the understudies who will fill in for the leads if necessary. As a result, my attention will be very divided, so I can’t micro-manage your performances. Do what you can to make your performances feel more real and if any issues pop up along the way, I’ll be sure to iron them out.”

After his long speech, you and the rest of the cast of the play run through your lines while reading the script in much the same manner you did when you auditioned for the part. Under Max’s direction, you find a better feel for the rhythm of Shakespeare’s words, but it still might be hard for you to evoke the kind of passion you’re supposed to (considering how you feel about Tony). Nonetheless, the rehearsal mostly goes smoothly as you manage to read through the play for the first time with your fellow actors. Following the rehearsal, you head back to your room. You think you hear something odd a short distance away as you get on your floor. Do you?

The city of Utopolis needs protecting. Horrible crimes are still being committed throughout the city every few minutes throughout the day. There is only so much you can do as Battlegirl, but anything is better than doing nothing. You pack your superheroic gear and prepare to continue your war on crime when it occurs to you that one thing has changed the circumstances of your crimefighting that you should take into account. You exchanged contact information with MacDeath, so there is no need to go out alone. Then again, if you do you may gain more reputation and intimidation for yourself. Yesterday you were given sole credit for the work, but that was the result of a reporting error. You’re obviously not in this for personal glory, but public adulation can bring attention to your cause and put you on the radar of very powerful and influential people. You can do a lot more good as a great heroine than as a merely good one. On the other hand, if you suffer a defeat or are otherwise set back, the reputation and intimidation loss will be less if you are alone than with MacDeath. The call is yours to make.

Do you call MacDeath and see if he’s up for patrolling with you tonight?

Student 1: “Hey, man, did you hear about that new illegal underground fighting tournament that they have going now?”

Student 2: “What? You’re shitting me. You seriously believe in that fairy tale?”

Student 1: “No, I am completely serious. Stone cold dead serious. I’ve seen it for myself. It’s like something out of Bloodsport, man. They got some of the toughest fighters around. People that would make me look like a chump.”

Student 2: “So people then?”

Student 1: “Shut the fuck up, man. These guys are serious business. Apparently the people funding it are big time crimelords. Rumor has it that some of their fighters aren’t even paid.”

Student 2: “Like they do it for free?”

Student 1: “Not for free. They’re coerced. Somehow. I don’t know how you even coerce people that powerful, but they found a way. If the rumor is true, anyway. Most of them are paid large sums of money, though.”

Student 2: “So where is this tournament supposed to be held anyway?”

The first student goes on to describe a series of hidden passageways in the Commercial District that he took when he saw the tournament. He follows up by claiming that they’re apparently recruiting local talent for fights and “other job opportunities”.

The thought hadn’t occurred to you before now, but this could be a good opportunity to go undercover and expose what the criminal element does from the inside. You might be able to shut down an operation like this (or at least force it to relocate) if you attack it from the inside. On the other hand, it sounds pretty dangerous. Fighting common street criminals is one thing, but apparently these guys are world-class fighters. You can plausibly check out the tournament now, or you may want to just head back to your room and put it off for another time.

A) Scope out where the tournament is held (as Megan)
B) Scope out where the tournament is held (as Battlegirl)
C) Head back to your room, this might be over your head

No problem. It's a legitimately good idea, so I'm glad to be able to use it. Even if that's not how the vote goes for this night's activity, Megan will have the option to re-visit the possibility later. It's a bit too major of a criminal enterprise to turn a blind eye to.

You decide that although what’s going on at that tournament may be highly illegal and immoral, it is too dangerous to just go there on a whim. You need some kind of exit strategy in case things go bad. Unfortunately your only superheroic associate hasn’t been answering your calls tonight, so you decide to return to your room.

When you walk into the room, you find Kelly and Gabby sitting in their pajamas on your couch watching that pirate show you and her watched together. You feel a little insulted, you get back to your room and your best friend is sitting on your couch watching her favorite tv show with some girl you barely met two days ago. You’re not used to this feeling of childish selfishness, but you and Kelly have been like sisters for about 6 years now, and all of a sudden she’s spending all day with some other girl she met a week ago.

What do you do now?

A) Try to join Kelly and Gabby in watching the show
B) Kick Gabby out of your room in a jealous fit
C) Go play with your new friends Isaac and Hideo
D) Go hang out with their crush, Tony. That’ll show them

You snap back to your senses. Gabby isn’t a threat to your existing friendship with Kelly, you trying to tear them apart would be though. Rather than try to get some kind of childish revenge to make her crawl back to you, you decide to join them. After all, you have nothing against Gabby personally. She seems like an alright girl. She was nice enough the one time you talked to her.

You bring yourself to ask, “Mind if I join you guys?”

“It’s your room.” Gabby answers, without a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

You pull up a chair and sit next to Kelly’s side of the couch. The three of you watch the pirate show without much conversation going on between the three of you. The town the rugged man was in lays in ruins as he sneaks his way onto the pirate ship. He creeps up on one of the guards patrolling the ship and clubs him in the back of the head with a blackjack. He strips the pirate of his clothes and changes into them off-screen. Gabby lets out a groan of disappointment when the camera cuts away to show a scene of totally unaware pirates celebrating below the deck. When the camera cuts back to the hero, he throws the pirate’s body over the rails and assumes the disguise of the pirate sentry. The episode ends with a close-up of the back of a man with a hooked hand as he points his hook at the hero and says “You there, scallywag. I saw what you did.” Then the credits roll. You can see how regular people can get hooked on episodic programming like that. Even if you don’t understand all or even most of the plot points, there’s something almost hypnotizing about it.

Once the episode is over, Gabby gets up and tells Kelly, “Thanks for everything today. I had a great time. We’ll have to do it again at some point.” As an afterthought she turns to you, “It’s been nice seeing you, Megan. I’ll see you tomorrow.” With that, Gabby exits your room.

You don’t have much time left before you have go to sleep. You might be able to talk to Kelly about one thing. What do you want to talk to her about?

A) Nothing, just go to sleep
B) How you spent your day
C) How she spent her day
D) The illegal fighting tournament

“So, what happened at that party?” You ask Kelly, knowing that starting at the beginning of her day would be the easiest way to hear about it.

“Not much, our team totally destroyed the other one as we all expected. I don’t even remember the final score; I gave up on watching the game about halfway through. I spent most of the time talking to Gabby and some of the guys at the frat: Tony, Steve, and the rest. Steve asked about you, but otherwise it seemed like nobody remembered the incident, or at least felt like bringing it up.”

“What did you do after the party? You were out every time I came back here today.”

“When the party ended, Gabby and I went out to eat at a café and then went back to her room and hung out for a while. After that, we went our separate ways, but you must have been on patrol at the time because I didn’t see you anywhere. Once our favorite show came on, Gabby invited me to watch it with her in the den, but I wanted to make sure you got back from patrol safely, so I asked her if we could watch it in here instead.”

“So you had fun today, right?”

“Yeah, it’s been a nice day.”

Your conversation ends when you notice that it’s already past when you intended to sleep. Keeping well-rested is fundamental for a superheroine and it helps you focus in class, so you can’t afford to compromise with your nightly schedule unless you have no choice. You get in your bed and try to sleep; once again reflecting on the day you had spent. You got into a fight with Becky for practically no apparent reason, went to your first play rehearsal, went on patrol where you found no criminal activity but managed to hear about something bigger than you ever expected, and got to demonstrate interest in Kelly’s day. For some reason this day has been marked with an extraordinary amount of conflict between yourself and other girls, but you managed to restrain yourself from letting jealousy or vengeance overwhelm you. With that last thought, you drift off into sleep.

Enter the Voyeur. He is a cosmic entity that observes all and has taken particular interest in the adventures of one Megan Thompson, a normal but exceptionally well-trained human girl that goes by the name of Battlegirl. Always confined to the role of observation, he has come to take great pleasure in her humiliations and defeats throughout the multi-verse. His great cosmic powers have kept a watchful eye over happenings involving her in all possible universes and have brought the visions of the events into the dreams of Megan, the only direct influence permitted to the Voyeur by Higher Authorities. Today, he has elected to address you, the reader, directly.

The Voyeur: Today we present you with a vision of what wasn't in this universe, but what could have been. Had Megan Thompson in her civilian identity failed to gain the advantage over her relatively weak, nerdy civilian rival Becky, this is what may have been. This is an episode that I like to call…

Semi-canonical gallery 3: Revenge of the Nerds

Your attempt to bring your shirt free from the clutches of Becky ends in miserable failure. Despite your great advantage in terms of strength and experience, you find yourself too exhausted from her earlier workout to be able to break your opponent's hold on your shirt. Becky capitalizes on the opportunity by pulling off your shirt while maintaining a solid grip on your bra. In addition to her muscle fatigue, your attempt to compensate for the fact that your breasts are a thin layer of cotton away from being exposed to your friends, Isaac and Hideo, renders you once again unable to break your opponent's hold. Becky strips your bra off, fully exposing your boobs to your neighbors. This is the first time you've been exposed like this while in your civilian identity, so you panic and make a vain attempt to cover your breasts, which Becky quickly squeezes.

“C'mon, Megan, this is why you came here, isn't it? You wanted to show your body off. What's the matter? You don't like it now that you're not in control? You were planning on driving these poor boys wild with unfulfilled desire, weren't you? Just admit it, you slut.”

You had planned nothing of the sort, you just wanted to spend time with your new friends. You weren't expecting Becky to be here at all, you certainly weren't looking for a fight, and you weren't looking to entice anybody. Still, you're being accused of these things in front of your neighbors while being exposed and groped by an apparently jealous rival. Your sexual inexperience leaves you only able to weakly deny that you were wanted to tease anyone. You can't think of a way to talk Becky down from this.

“Oh, really? You claim you didn't want to tease these guys, but I bet if we take a look down there we'll see a different story”, Becky says, pointing to your pussy, which is securely protected by your pants and underwear. Although there are obviously no signs of it to the outside, you do notice that you're beginning to feel a little excited down there. Being controlled and humiliated like this by another girl is affecting you in ways you didn't expect. The novelty of this all happening to the real you and not your masked alter-ego is also getting to you. You are too wrapped up in your thoughts, feelings, and worries about exposing yourself to your neighbors to resist as Becky unbuttons and unzips your blue jeans with one of your hands, lowering them down to your knees. All the while, her other hand wrestles control over one of your boobs away from your protection, allowing her to cup your right breast and play with your nipple. You notice Isaac and Hideo are just looking on, startled but aroused. Looking into Isaac's eyes, you see he is torn between wanting to speak up and get Becky to lay off you and wanting to see the rest of your fantastic body.

Becky's arm wraps around your panty covered waist by the time you're able to try resisting again. You decide that modesty has to be abandoned so that you could get free, so you let the one boob you have protected from Isaac and Hideo's eyes free and try to wiggle your way out of Becky's hold. Unfortunately for you, all your resistance accomplishes is a demonstration of the bounciness of your tits for Isaac and Hideo and the very gradual reveal of your completely shaved cunt, including the crown tattoo you have above it from the time you were kidnapped and raped by the Burger Kingpin. Becky is so taken aback by it, that it is the first thing she comments upon, even before noticing your now sopping wet pussy.

“Wow, even when I first met you I imagined you for a slut. A pretty, popular girl like you I figured must have had sex with a ton of guys. But this, this is incredible! This is proof that she is a bona fide whore. Who else would actually have such a slutty tattoo? Right above her entrance, there's no mystery about who this was intended for. Take a good look, boys, your cute little girl-next-door neighbor isn't as innocent as you thought. And look at how wet she is! She's so excited now that her inner slut has been exposed to the world.”

Becky runs her hand across the opening of your vagina, expertly fiddling with your clit forcing you to involuntarily let out a moan. There is no way that you could explain to them what your tattoo is or why you have it, so you just soak in the feeling of having your imagined promiscuity exposed to your neighbors and a girl who hates you while you rack your brain to come up with some kind of alternative explanation. Becky takes advantage of your distraction as she inserts her index finger into your vagina and starts fingerfucking you. All you can bring yourself to think of is finding better balance, so you lean over into Isaac's desk and grip it to support yourself. Moans begin to reluctantly escape your mouth as you start actually enjoying the way Becky is handling you. Becky quickly brings you to a climax, and you find yourself for the first time in your life attaining orgasm from being handled by another girl. When you come to your senses, you notice that Becky pulled down your pants and panties completely, making you totally naked in Isaac and Hideo's room. Becky turns towards the two of them and addresses them directly.

“C'mon guys, now it's your turn. This slut wanted to play with you, now you should play with her like I just did. Of course you two are naturally better equipped for playing with her than I am, so I expect you to use it.”

“B-b-but we can't do that.” Isaac objects. “That would be r-r-rape. B-b-besides, Megan doesn't deserve to be t-t-treated that way.”

“Are you a man or aren't you? You can't rape the willing and just look at that slut, have you ever seen a girl more willing in your entire life?”

“T-t-that's just because y-y-you molested her!”

“Why doesn't matter. The point is this slut is just like all the ones you've lusted over in highschool. While you two were jerking off to anime, other guys got to give her a good fucking. Popular guys, cool guys, bad boys; all kinds, I doubt she was too selective. And now you're in the position where she's making herself available to you. She thought she'd be in control, but she wasn't counting on me being onto her. Look at her body. If she wanted, she could have escaped long ago, there's no way I could hold her down. The truth is, even if she doesn't show it on the surface, she wants to be taken by guys like you. So I reiterate: are you men or are you pathetic little perma-virgin white knights?”

Isaac and Hideo are convinced by her reasoning and taunts and decide to re-position you so that you're leaning onto Isaac's bed. You don't have the will to exist, you let them move you as they please. Isaac lays on the floor in front of the bed as you are lowered onto his cock in a cowgirl position. His hands grip your hips and help guide you as you lower yourself onto him, letting gravity do most of the work. Meanwhile, Hideo presents his cock in front of your face and you don't need any convincing to hungrily lap your lips around it and start sucking, being sure to take it as deep as you can. Their cocks aren't as big as the ones the criminals you've encountered have had, but they're not small either. You still deliriously enjoy the fucking you're taking, this is the first time you've been fucked by someone you actually care about. It feels different than the criminals that have violated you, but at the same time, you know if you were thinking rationally, you'd be disgusted at the way these two are essentially being complicit in your rape. Even if they're under Becky's influence, they should be able to say no. They should be able to stop this.

Hideo pulls free from your mouth and moves around to behind you. He points his cock at your virgin sphincter and presses it up against it now that it's nice and lubricated. He thrusts inside, giving you the feeling of being filled in both holes. The rhythm of the two guys thrusting into you brings you closer and closer to a second climax. Suddenly, you notice that Becky's own pants (and underwear) have dropped and she's sitting on Isaac's bed with her legs spread, exposing her pussy. She beckons towards you and because you're so out of it because of being fucked in both of your holes, you don't have to guess what she wants from you and you don't have to deliberate over whether or not you're going to give it to her. You bring your mouth straight in-between her legs and start moaning into her pussy. You stick your tongue in and get a taste as Becky's hands wrap around the back of your head.

“That's a good little slut. And good job too guys getting her worked up like this.” After a few more minutes of service, Becky starts letting out moans. At the same time, Isaac and Hideo are both brought to the point of cumming. Hideo empties out into your ass, making no effort to escape, but Isaac actually tries to get out from under you. You're too bent on enjoying the last of your fucking to allow him to escape, forcing his cum to empty into your fertile womb. You weren't thinking of the repercussions of your actions while you did it, you were more focused on appeasing the girl who brought you into this situation. She has won the struggle fair-and-square and turned you into a willing partner, at least for today. Once you finally bring Becky to orgasm, receiving some genuine sounding compliments about your carpet-munching skills along the way, the four of you are left totally exhausted. Isaac and Hideo's cum leaks out of your pussy and ass respectively as you put on your clothes and try to slip out of the room with what little remains of your dignity. 'At least no one will know that this little misadventure happened to the great heroine Battlegirl', you think to yourself. At the same time, you're left wondering how this will affect your future interactions with the Anime Club.

With these thoughts, your dream ends…

And as Porky Pig once said "Th-th-th-th-th-th-th-that's all, folks!" I guess we managed to run a little under four posts for this gallery. I'll continue into the next day some time tomorrow probably, but until then, I hope this will hold you all over. Sorry about the repeated delays, this scene required a little more thought than usual because we weren't even remotely close to losing, so a lot of justifying what happened was necessary. Most of the delay was a combination of business and laziness though. Even with the justifications, it's not perfectly logical, but hey, it's porn.

You awaken this morning to the sound of your alarm. Your dreams were once again uncharacteristically sexual; you inwardly cringe upon reflection of what happened in them. You never would have thought of servicing another girl in some kind of sex fantasy, but for some reason completely unfathomable to yourself, your subconscious went there. You feel thankful that what happened in your dreams wasn’t the actual result of your fight with Becky as you prepare yourself for the second Monday of your semester.

You arrive at the lecture hall where your biology class is taught and take a seat at the end of a row otherwise almost entirely occupied by guys. A few of them turn towards you as they talk, not trying to engage you, but trying to get a look at you while they continue their conversation. After about a minute or two (during which you take out your notebook and a pen), you hear the clicking of your curvy red-headed professor’s high heeled shoes heading down the aisle as she makes her way to the front of the lecture hall. You think to yourself that it must be hard walking around all day in those shoes, but you look around and see that the vast majority of your peers have their eyes locked onto your gorgeous professor, most looking at the slight jiggle of her ample breasts while some are more fixated on her long, perfectly smooth legs which are leading up into her miniskirt. If it weren’t for the unusually sapphic nature of your dream last night, you probably wouldn’t be noticing just how fantastic Professor Evey’s figure is. Nonetheless, at just one look over her as she struts by, you suddenly understand why her class is so popular with guys.

Professor Evey’s lecture starts promptly upon her getting to the podium at the front of the room and organizing her notes.

“Today, we are going to start focusing on one of the core tenants of Biology: that change in species over time is the result of many reiterations of natural selection. In other words, we’re going to learn about survival of the fittest. This is a concept that a lot of people misunderstand, they take it to mean strongest, fastest, or smartest. Still the best in any generation in one category can be totally selected out of the gene pool if they simply fail to breed. Being able to survive and pass down your genetic material to off-spring is the most important expression of natural selection. It’s not the best; it’s the one best able to create opportunities for themselves that get to pass down their genes.”

You think back to your dream last night where you were overwhelmed and fucked because of a vastly inferior opponent. Of course, that would result in you potentially passing down your genes due to your personal failure, but maybe that’s what your professor is getting at. Maybe as a female, you’re at your fittest genetically when you’re most desirable and available. Her lecture ends as you philosophize to yourself about evolutionary genetics. As always, you head to the dining hall and select a balanced lunch for yourself.

When you’re ready to sit down, you see three tables containing groups of peers you can associate with. Becky is sitting alone at a table that seats two, you can make another attempt to make peace with her or even try to make her apologize to you. At a large table, Tony and Steve (from the party) are surrounded by their peers in the fraternity. You can try to make a better impression on them than you left at the party or try talking to Tony about the play. Another option is a table where Kelly and Gabby are sitting. It normally has two chairs, but you could pull one over and join them. You’re sure Kelly would welcome you, but you can’t get a good reading on how Gabby feels about you. Finally you can sit alone.

People are generally more receptive after an apology, regardless of your own beliefs about personal responsibility. We may not think what we did was wrong, but she obviously does. Apologizing doesn't mean we can't expound on the situation.
>Becky, I'd just like to say I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. I wasn't seeing things from your point of view, and that was petty of me. I want you to know that I'm not trying to take advantage of Isaac or Hideo, and I don't want to steal them from you. I'd never jeopardize your friendship with them. (30+ charisma check… 81 rolled - Pass)

“I just want to apologize for what happened yesterday. I didn’t mean to fight you and I shouldn’t have phrased what I told you in such a vague way. The whole situation could have been avoided if I had communicated better, so I’m sorry.”

Becky looks to calm down considerably at your apology. She must have been anticipating round 2 of yesterday, so it noticeably caught her off-guard. “That’s awfully mature of you, Megan. I wasn’t expecting you to say that. I guess while we’re apologizing, I shouldn’t have attacked you instead of asking you to clarify. And calling you a slut might have been a bit harsh.”

“So can we put this whole situation behind us and be friends?”

“Not friends, no. But I don’t see why we can’t get along.”

Well, you buried the hatchet between you two. That’s more than could have been expected. You can choose to talk to Becky about something else or finish your meal in peace and go to your next class (psychology).

What do you want to do?

A) Ask Becky why she was so defensive over Isaac and Hideo
B) Ask Becky if she’s going to behave herself next time you hang out with Isaac and Hideo
C) Tell Becky about your dream last night
D) Ask Becky why she tried to pull your shirt off when you were fighting

Rather than ruin the peace you’ve just created between you and Becky, you decide to try to engage her in some small talk as you continue to eat your food.

You start by asking her, “So, you’re a member of the anime club, right? How did you get into anime?”

“Oh, I watched some shows like Sailor Moon when I was a kid. Of course at the time, I didn’t know the difference between anime and cartoons, but I watched them anyway. Eventually, I found out about forums on the Internet where people discussed shows like the ones I grew up on and I learned more about it.”

You feel you have to ask her, “so, what is the difference between anime and cartoons?” The one time you got Isaac to start trying to talk to you, he didn’t do a good job at explaining what he was talking about, so you’d like to know what the actual distinction is.

“Mostly just country of origin. Anime is from Japan whereas cartoons are from the West. There are a few things that set anime apart like animation techniques, the art style, and the variety of content, though.”

In no time, you finish your food and politely say goodbye to Becky, noting that you’ve got to go to your next class. You head into the Psychology room and take a seat. Your eccentric professor begins his lecture promptly at the start of class.

“Today, we are going to focus on dreams. There is still a little debate in the world of psychology over the exact nature of the content of dreams, but there is broad consensus behind what happens physiologically when you sleep. The long and the short of it is your brain starts using different kinds of electrical waves when you go to sleep. About 90 minutes after falling asleep, you enter a stage known as Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. REM sleep is the most essential part of sleep, during which your brain processes most of what has happened throughout the day. Most of my colleagues agree that this processing of information is what causes dreams to primarily occur during REM sleep. There are some other theories floating around about the purpose of dreams. An old group of theories first brought forth by Freud is that dreams are the expression of unconscious fears and desires. Some others feel that it’s just a natural effect of the brain replaying what has happened through the day and committing the important parts to memory. Others think that dreams are our mind’s way of preparing ourselves for situations that are unusual or extraordinary, a kind of training for the kinds of threats that have faced us (as humans) ever since primordial times. A final theory I’ve seen floating around, moreso by philosophers than by any serious scientists, is that dreams are actually some kind of mystical interaction between our brain and some higher form of metaphysical consciousness. I’ve seen it put forth that it might be another dimension or just some kind of psychic network, but as with most things metaphysical, it’s just unsubstantiated speculation. I wouldn’t put too much stock in that last theory, but it is something neat to look into. There are a few research opportunities involving sleep, so if any of you are curious, feel free to pay me a visit during my office hours.”

Professor Cortex’s lecture ends and you are left with the freedom to do what you want with the rest of your day.

What do you want to do?

B) Go on patrol
C) Work at a part time job

With just $45 to your name, you decide that you ought to spend your afternoon earning some more money. Besides, the last time you’ve worked made it clear to you that you can do good by working as Megan Thompson in ways that you can’t as Battlegirl. The current job opportunities are as follows:

High School tutor – tutor struggling students and desperate over-achievers alike – pay is $10 per hour for a four hour session, but clients expect results - you have tutored a student in the pass and may choose to tutor him again, or you may elect to try to help someone entirely new

Library circulation staff – check-out books and assist patrons - pay is $7 per hour for a four hour session

Fashion modeling – there is a posting asking for good-looking amateur models for casual clothing items (t-shirts, jeans, etc.). No previous experience or recommendations necessary – Pay is $30 for a two-hour session

You remember the 9th grader you’ve helped last time you tutored and decide it would probably be a good idea to make sure he stays on the right track. You feel as though you’ve made some progress with him, but he still lacks the basic math skills he’ll need to get by in the 9th grade. You can’t let Kyle or his father down, especially not after they were so grateful last time that they paid you an extra tip (that they didn’t have to) on top of what they were obligated to. Your help seems to be welcome and appreciated, so there is no reason to try tutoring anyone else for the time being.

You sign up to tutor Kyle today and head over to his house. Your arrival is announced by the barking of Kyle’s large dog, Bogart. You ring the doorbell and moments later, Kyle’s dad opens the door and starts saying “I’ve told you people a billion times, I’m not buying anything…” at which point he sees you. “Sorry about that, I thought you were one of those damn door-to-door salesmen” he says, adjusting to the site of you in much the same manner as last time. “So you decided to come back, huh? Well, I’m glad to see it. I’m sure the boy will be too, even if he doesn’t show it. He’ll be in his room.” Kyle’s dad lets you into his house and goes back to his recliner. You let Bogart sniff your hand for a moment while you pet him with the other, which causes the large dog to calm down. Not wanting to waste any more time, you knock on Kyle’s door and get told that “it’s unlocked”. You open the door and find him playing some old video game. You don’t know enough about them to recognize what it is.

Kyle is less interested in dealing with you right now because he is wrapped up in his game. He does sit more upright when you enter, but his focus still remains mostly on playing the game. How do you approach him?

A) Ask him what he’s playing
B) Try to talk to him about math while he’s playing his game (easy charisma check)
C) Ask him to pause it so that you could get to work (medium charisma check)
D) Demand he get his books out and get to work (hard charisma check)
E) User Suggestions

(I’d like to note that how authoritative you feel like being will factor into how much progress students you tutor make and their attitudes towards you. Being more authoritative will make them like you a little less but work harder and make more progress. Being lax will make them like you more, but exercising authority over them will get more difficult. They’ll probably also learn less.)

You need to get Kyle working if he is to make any progress towards completing his education, but you don’t want to come off as if you’re being too harsh. You decide asking him nicely is the best approach. “Hi, Kyle. Do you think you could pause the game really quick so we could get to work?” Kyle completely ignores your suggestion still engrossed in what’s going on on-screen. You wait for a moment hoping he was paying attention to what you were saying when he replies, “Sorry, Megan, but I can’t stop right now. I’m almost to the boss and I don’t want to risk losing this progress.”

It looks like you’ll have to do something to get his attention. What do you do?

A) Let him play until he reaches a stopping point
B) Threaten to go get his dad to make him (medium charisma check)
C) Actually just go get his dad

The easiest way you can think of to get Kyle to cooperate with you is to offer him a reward for doing so. The fact that you’re offering him a reward where you wouldn’t have otherwise is probably going to make you look a little soft and it is rewarding bad behavior, but you’ll be able to earn his cooperation in the short-term much easier than you would any other way and he will like you more. The problem is deciding how to reward him.

As a poor college student, you doubt you have much to offer Kyle. You’ve got $45 in your wallet and you’ll have at least another $40 by the end of the session, so you could simply offer him money. You also have your escrima sticks. As a weapon you use in crime-fighting, parting with them would be a bad idea, but he would probably like them enough to be willing to take them as a bribe. Aside from that, it does occur to you that you seem to have this unwitting effect on men where they become fixated on your figure in your presence. Maybe you could leverage any attraction he has towards you. Any action along those lines will probably have severe repercussions for how he views you.

What do you do?

A) Offer him a cash bribe (negotiation roll to find out how cheap you’re able to secure his cooperation for)
B) Offer him your escrima sticks
C) Think of how to seduce him into compliance
D) Return to the previous choice

You remember that you also have control over how your session is spent. You can give Kyle some of that time to play video games, but the only way to guarantee that concession will secure his cooperation is to offer him something to go along with that time: your time as well. You're in the unique position to offer him someone else to play with, which provided that he has anything he wants to play with anyone else, could guarantee that you keep him in line.

“I'll make you a deal, I play some of these games with you and then you try your hardest to learn from me for the rest of our time.”

“You play video games? You really don't look the type.”

“I don't play often and I'm not great, but you can show me how, but that's only if you agree to study when I say we have to.”

“Deal.” For some reason, Kyle seems awfully eager to teach you how to play, even more than you've expected. You two play some 2D game with 3D models that is kind of like a fighting game, but it's based on how far you can knock each other back. Kyle completely creamed you when you competed against him, but you felt yourself learning the game's mechanics a little by the end. The inputs were certainly way easier than the ones from the fighting game you played earlier, no quarter-circles, half-circles, or anything like that.

Once the gaming session was over, Kyle stood true to his words and reluctantly took out his algebra text book so you two could get to work. Wasting no time, you dove right in.

(Give me a general studying roll to see how this session goes. There is a -10 modifier on the roll because of the time wasted gaming.)

Your attempts to get Kyle to learn more about math were completely in vain. His mind stayed completely focused on getting back to the video game, which you obviously couldn't allow him to do. Every time you tried to explain to him more advanced algebra techniques, he would pretend he doesn't have any idea what you're talking about then suggest playing the game a little more. He also takes the time to pry into your personal life with questions about your love-life, which you tell him would be inappropriate for you to answer, especially when he's supposed to be working. Your refusal to answer only seems to drive his interest in your personal life up further. You never envisioned that your own personal life would be an impediment to your pupil's learning. By the end of the session, you feel as if the two of you made no progress and as though Kyle is even less motivated than he was before you started tutoring him. If you want him to turn around, you're going to have to put in a major effort next time.

When your session concludes, you go to the living room to talk to his dad, who is as you expected watching some type of sports games while sipping at some can of beer.

“So, how did workin' with the kid go?”, he asks you about as politely as you could imagine coming from him.

“Not too well. I tried all I could to get him to focus, but he kept asking about my private life. It was like he completely forgot what I'm here for.”

“That's to be expected of a boy his age. If you want to motivate him, you might want to try to give him something he really wants to work for.”

“Like what?”

“Like you. You're a pretty girl, maybe you could lead him on a little. Make him think that if he does a good job you'll reward him somehow. I'm not sayin' you got to do anything with the kid, but he clearly likes you. You could use that to your advantage. Or…”

“Or?”

“Or you could try to make him jealous.”

“Jealous? Of who?”

“I don't know, you've got a boyfriend don't you?” You don't, but you don't bother to correct Kyle's father. “Maybe fawn over how smart he is. Then again, that might only make the boy feel more hopeless. You could also try to make him think there's someone else in this house competing for your attention.”

“You mean you?”

“Yeah. I might be crossin' a line here, so don't feel obliged to do anything I say, but if Kyle thinks there's something goin' on between the two of us, he'll have to focus on the work if he wants to have your time. Just food for thought. Anyway, even though you didn't make much progress, I have to give you your $40. so here it is. Feel free to come again, we're a little desperate and I know I'd be glad to see you.” You take the money and leave, thoroughly disappointed at how little progress you've made with Kyle.

You decide it would be a good idea to learn what you can about the underground fighting tournament you heard rumors about. Because this is a little more dangerous than a standard patrol, it might be a good idea to tell someone about it, just in case you end up in a bad situation. Before heading out, you decide to:

A) Leave a note for Kelly explaining where exactly you're going and why
B) A, but also include MacDeath's contact information for in case you go missing
C) Call MacDeath about it
D) Don't leave any indication of what you're doing and where you're going
E) User Suggestions

Before you can even head out, you've got to determine exactly what you intend on doing at the tournament. It's clear that many of the fighters are being coerced (according to the rumor you heard) and the tournament itself is clearly unsanctioned, but you have to come up with some kind of plan of attack. Security would probably be tight if you tried to just fight your way to the bosses organizing it and making them stop. Infiltration is a possibility to get around it, but there are two approaches you can take to it. As a spectator, you'll be able to slip past some security and find your way to the bosses a lot easier than trying to fight your way through. As a fighter, you can gain direct access to the other fighters and if you can bring them to their senses, you may be able to learn how to free them from the influence of the tournament organizers. Of course, the few that are there just for the money will not be very receptive to liberation and will actively resist your attempts to free everyone, but they will probably be outnumbered by the ones who will want revenge against the tournament organizers. What do you want to do?

A) Just scout the entrance to the tournament so that you can confirm that the rumor was accurate
B) Infiltrate the tournament as a spectator to try to take down the bosses from within
C) Directly attack the security and fight your way through to the bosses
D) Join as a fighter to gain access to the other fighters
E) User Suggestions

As for your clothes, you decide there are two ways you can approach the tournament: as a superhero and as a civilian. Chances are that because the people who are running the tournament are enemies of Battlegirl, you'll be put up against tougher opponents if you go in as Battlegirl, but it will contribute to how much criminals fear you if all goes well. Of course, if they see you uncharacteristically get completely dominated by an opponent, the effect will severely diminish how intimidated they are by you. The security definitely won't let you in as a spectator if you go as Battlegirl and if you get spotted scouting the tournament as Battlegirl it will put the security on a higher alert than before. Going in incognito will be safer, but you won't attain any glory that way.

What do you want to do?

A) Go in as Battlegirl
B) Go as a civilian

Results so far:

Decision 1) 3-way tie between B, C, and D
Decision 2) A by a landslide
Decision 3) B by a landslide

I'd kind of like to get this story moving, so it looks like we'll probably have to settle decision 1 by a roll

1-33 is B
34-66 is C
67-99 is D
in the event of 100, I select the winner

Give me a roll

I think the game works best if I accept whatever comes first a roll or a vote when I ask for a tie-breaking roll. I know in most circumstances that will be a roll, which kind of runs contrary to the point of having the choices be as guided by the players as possible, but if I don't accept tiebreaking rolls without the possibility of reversal, the game becomes a little arbitrary. In this case, the counter vote for D would obviously make the late vote for C irrelevant anyway even if I were counting it.

As for the update: sorry it's taking so long. It's taking a while for me to come up with how to rationalize the setting where the fights take place, so it'll take me a little longer yet before I come up with something that I think makes sense.

Take your time man.

As a suggestion, look for industrial buildings for hosting fights. They muffle a lot of noise, can host a fair amount of people and are easy for maintenance. Unless you're talking about big money fighting, underground fights don't usually literally take place underground.

If you're looking for a reason these fights are taking place, maybe the crime lords want to scout capable fighters to hire?

Hey, guys. I'm sorry I left you hanging for so long, and I'm sorrier that I have to be the bearer of bad news right now. I'm way behind on some work and other important things going on in my life, so I probably won't be able to continue the story for at least another week. I know that sucks for everyone, but I've gotta get my priorities straight at some point. Thanks for the feedback, by the way. I think I'll be able to overcome my writer's block when I've got the free time to get back to the story, thanks in part to your advice.

As for responding to this post, on the off-chance that any of you happen upon it way down here, I'd appreciate it if you would not bump the thread so as to not give anyone false hope of continuation until I'm actually ready to get back. After this post we'll be 5 away from the bump limit, so if necessary I will make a write-up for a new thread and make The Adventures of Battlegirl Thread 5.

Also, I know my sporadic update scheduling can be a pain. Thanks for bearing with me and not complaining too much. When I get back to writing, I would like to try to set what I think would be a reasonable, sustainable goal of at least one substantial update (i.e. not just a transition to another vote, something has to happen) per real-world day. I might manage more depending on how inspired I feel, but I think the tortoise approach to writing might work better than the hare approach I've been trying (and sometimes failing) to take.

Not entirely true, but I did feel I had to vanish for a while. Basically what happened was I was rounding up on finals week prior to hiatus and floundering on a few key classes, so I had to focus all my energy on passing them. Then I had to find a job for the Summer (which I did find, but it was manual labor and it left me too exhausted for writing). I've since liberated myself from that job (which happened about a week ago), but I have a bit of a barrier to continuing the story in that, as of this post we're at the bump limit. We've been going a few too many threads for me to not do that whole Googledocs thing, which requires a good deal of editing and some writing from me as well as figuring out how the hell Googledocs works. Since I went way over my planned hiatus anyway, it's been easy to put continuation (and all the work it entails) off. Thing is: I have nothing better to do now, so I figure I might as well resume the story as soon as I finish all this editing shit (which I have started the process of). So on the off-chance that anyone reads this post (I'm not bumping this thread because it's pretty fucking dead right now and I think a Thread 5 appearing would be a pleasant surprise), rest easy knowing that Battlegirl will return, and this time she will actually get to dealing with all that Bloodsport shit. I guarantee* it.

Thanks.

The editing will still take a while yet, I've got most of the character write-ups done (which should help me with keeping my own characters straight, so it's time worth taking), but I'd like to get that next thread out by the end of next week. Obviously if I can get ready to continue earlier, I will.

I'm running a little behind schedule, but I've just finished editing the docs and they're about ready to lead next thread. Things are going to be a little hectic over the next 2 days for me, so I'll wait until Monday to actually get Thread 5 up and running. By then my schedule should be stable and I'll be free to resume the "at least one substantial update a day" plan I had pre-hiatus.

Now I am, I had to move my stuff and then I fell into yet another fit of laziness but this time I'll totally probably post an update sometime this week (I'd say today, but being overly optimistic hasn't helped me in the past).

No one is going to be here unless someone felt like re-reading/catching up, but for the sake of anyone who does that, the new thread can be found here.

Amazing what a few months AWOL will do to post numbers, huh? /storytiem/ has had more than twice the number of posts it had when I started Thread 4 by the time I got around to Thread 5
