Be sure to check out another great board on 8Chan - The erotic role play community! >>>/erp/ It's great to spend some time here while you're waiting for your favourite storyteller to update!

Since the board took off we've seen a great deal of different games being played. Many of you are aspiring to host you own game one day but the task might seem daunting, so here is a collection of resources aimed at you. Everyone is welcome to add their own resource or give their own tips, and I will gladly add it to the sticky!

Getting Stared
So you have this amazing idea that would make for an insanely fun and sexy game but don't know where to start. The first thing you should do is to get it down on paper, it might be tempting not to start writing or scribbling down your ideas before you thought it all through but this will a lot of the time lead to you forgetting half of it. You can always go back and edit or change anything later, as long as you get it down on paper.

tl;dr Don't hesitate, get it down on paper before you forget it.

The second thing you need to do is get some kind of software to use. Here is a few useful tips of what you can use.
1. Microsoft Word
Most of you already have the office package and word is naturally great for any kind of writing.
2. Open Office
Open office functions as a free alternative to word and can be downloaded here: http://www.openoffice.org/ (A mac version can be found here: http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/)
3. Google Docs
Google provides an online text editor and storage bank for your writing. It comes with a number of useful plug-ins for any writer and makes it easy to share with other users. Also you can access your bank from any computer and it's free. It can be found here: http://www.google.com/docs/about/

Next let's talk about your work environment. I would recommend that you close skype, facebook and steam if you want to be able to focus. Taking to many brief pauses to reply to messages from your friends will make it hard for you to keep the writing flowing. When it comes to other distractions music can be a big one. Sometime's it can make for great background noise to blot out any other distractions and sometimes it's just in the way. If you do like to listen to music while writing here are some tips:

1.The Phantom Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShI_fv38qYQ
2.Ave Maria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQVz6vuNq7s
3.Six Hour Classical Music Playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYwqKKc1VCQ
4.Revenge of the Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaWC_7NcfRA

Are you stuck with a particular sentence or do you find yourself using the same words or sentences over and over again? Here is a collection of useful websites dealing with the issue.
1. Google Translate https://www.google.se/search?q=google+translate&rlz=1C1KMZB_enSE578SE578&oq=google+t&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i60l4j69i57.931j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
Google translate is always useful when you're stuck, especially if English is not your first language.
2. The Free Dictionary http://www.thefreedictionary.com/
Not sure what some word means or how it is defined but you want to use it? Then this is perfect for you.
3. The Saurus http://www.thesaurus.com/
Probably the most useful tool of all the above. Type in any word in English and it will give you a collection of synonyms, helping you spice up your writing and make it interesting.
4. The Urban Dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/
If you are writing lots of dialogue then this is a great link for you. The use of slang can make your characters come alive.

Running the Game
The story is done, you've gone over it at least a dozen times and you're ready to start playing but you're not quite sure how it works yet.

To begin with you need a good collection of erotic imagery that goes somewhat well with your story but you have no idea where to find it. Check these links out to start building your own collection of smutty images!
1. Gelbooru http://gelbooru.com/
Functioning as the google of hentai gelbooru will be your best friend.
2. Monstergirls https://8ch.net/monster/
A board dedicated to nothing but monstergirls? Perfect!
3. Men in Fantasy http://meninfantasyart.tumblr.com/
There are limited resources when it comes to male art in general, but at this blog you can find a collection of non to semi erotic ones.
4. Halfchan's Hentai Board http://boards.4chan.org/h/
Keeps a steady flow or hentai pictures going.
5. Halfchan's Alternative Hentai Board http://boards.4chan.org/d/
The same as h but with more extreme/odd content

Have your players gotten you stuck between options, voting equally for two alternatives?
Tell them to make a tie-breaker roll where 1-50 is option A and 51-100 is option B or something similar.

This sticky will be continuously updated with your feedback. Thank you!

>/mg/
not >>>/monster/

>not recomending >>>/d/ for how broad the content is.

They even have a thread about women being bread by monsters https://8ch.net/d/res/3791.html

This thrread is a good idea though, nice work.

Thanks! I was actually going to add /monster but accidentally wrote /mg because of brainfart. I'll add /d as well.

The utility of synonyms:
While cock is one of my favorite words, it has its own limitations. For example, when describing a gang bang, if you call every phallus, dick, fuckstick, loverod and semen spewer a cock, it gets boring. An ass does not have to be an ass, but it can also be a butt, sphincter, boipussy, and cocksleeve as well. Do not be afraid to go outside the lines of conventional when describing a not normal situation.

Keep it simple:
L
Many a game runner will grab their tabletop set and start flipping through rule books for a duce guide. This is a slippery slope, and sometimes a boring one. Don't let your own rules stifle creativity.

Tonal definitions:
While I am an advocate of synonyms, take stock of the scenario before plugging a word with emotional connotations in. If your previously straight male character is being held down and felatted by another male, clitty probably isn't the best word to use. However if the character is a bimbofied younger male, it may. These are the things that can break an otherwise great scene

Art:
I personally don't use the resources above, I use rule34.xxx for my art. Let me know if I'm missing out

I kind of ment the 8chan /d/ because its a little more varied than the 4chan one and has some threads that the mods over there don't allow because they have sticks up their butts. Theres also an 8chan version of >>>/h/ which is another place to go if you didnt know about it. I think people should actualy just take a quick skim through some of those boards incase they find something that catches their eye since contrary to popular belief, /d/ isnt just dicks and gross stuff a majority of the time.

I was actually going to make a thread like this asking for advice, but rather an author do it than someone who hasn't hosted a story on here. Thanks!

>>16818
So for the sake of brevity; diction and syntax are contextually important?

I write, but I've never DM'ed/GM'ed a game before. What would be some tips for formatting and writing out a story based on multiple scenarios? What happens if anons choose a completely different option and you have to wing it? How do you establish numbers for passing rolls, or outcomes for general rolls? If anyone has advice I'd appreciate it.

Yes.

For baseline rolls, I always say something that would be possible calm, but difficult when stressed, like remembering a phone number, is a 50+ roll. Something like opening and unlocked door, 15+, etc.

Size and structure of posts varies hugely between authors. Onyx does colossal posts, I do wee little ones until a win/lose scene. You will have to find your own balance.

A lot of authors pre-write a lot of their smut or at least outline kinda what will happen in different scenarios. I would recommend not to pre-write too much and instead have some basic guidelines for the scene scribbled down. In the absolute majority of cases anons will pick from the given options but if they decide to do something completely different then you'll just have to roll with it. I make up most of my stuff on the fly which sometimes results in lousy grammar and odd plot-structure but it makes me more flexible. It's a personal preference kinda thing I suppose.

If you are writing something based on multiple scenarios (Like the contracts in Hera's Interstellar Contracts) then I would recommend having some kind of place the hero returns to. Having something like Hera's ship that remains the same helps a lot.

When it comes to establishing numbers for rolls it depends on how you want the game to go. Most of the time I will start with a basic roll of 50 and then change it around depending on what's happening in the story or what the action is. As Nonny mentioned some things are naturally harder than others. Think of the rolls as a tool for you to tell your story, you can always be lenient or extra harsh if you want to encourage/discourage certain behaviors.

Keep in mind that the idea is to get people to fap, not for them to read a novella!

Bonus tip, try to include sex even when the character wins an encounter. This will prevent people from derailing the thread or losing interest in the story due to a lack of sexual content. I find that win = dominant position and lose = submissive position works quite well.

Thank you both for your responses! I'll be sure to put it to use when I have time to start a story on here.
