The last thread his the bump limit, so here's part two of the Seeker story! You are currently in the jungle, having just escaped dangerous alien insects and found a small alien artifact.

The cat rears up, noticing your presence. He surveys you, and then gives a soft growl. It is not a growl of aggression, but a growl that says “excellent”. As he stretches his legs, he seems very pleased that you’ve woken him up. You know that he IS a he, because the evidence is plain as day. A cock of remarkable size and girth hangs beneath his body. A second, previously invisible, set of nostrils above those on his nose flare up. As he moves towards Nadia, a very thin green mist is released from these nostrils, wafting up between him and his Chutar target. Nadia recoils in confusion as tendrils of this gaseous chemical drift up to her face. In her hurry to escape, she breathes in heavily, getting a good whiff of whatever the cat has just released

When you jump back, it rolls and slides along the ceiling, to rest on the tunnel wall. In its center you can see a pulsing nut-like orb, presumably its heart.
As you leap back, you bump into Siegroy, who looks up at you with curiousity. Nadia hasn’t noticed the slime yet, simply because she hasn’t thought to look in the dark. What do you do?

The slime has positioned itself between you and the others. Siegroy is backing away from it, growling. He’s surely seen these kinds of creatures around before, and is reacting warily. It has no head to speak of, so unfortunately you don’t have a chance of incapacitating it that way. Nadia approaches it from behind, stun baton in hand.
The slime is fairly large, probably big enough to stand in, if it changed its shape, with a small core bobbing in the exact center. Its form shifts and changes, expanding into tendrils and then pulling itself back into a ball. Then, suddenly, with a wet slapping noise, it strikes! Two tendrils of slime form, speeding towards you. You’re already in a crouching position, making it fairly easy to dodge out of the way.

As the slime tries to pull them back, one of them smacks against a branch, causing it to split in two. The end of the tendril not attached to the slime falls to the floor in a puddle, still rolling around but too inconsequential to threaten you. The slime makes another slurping noise, pulling back into itself defensively.
You lift your gun to fire at the slime, but as you do, something terribly unpleasant happens. The slime that fell inside your suit starts to move. It’s subtle at first, just a slow movement, but as it slides around your waist you realize with a jolt of dread that it’s moving of its own accord. The slime must still be controlling it! The small puddle of slime sloshes around, slipping into the front of your suit and down into your crotch. You can feel its slimy wetness against your panties and thighs. This REALLY can’t be good. As you look around, Nadia and Siegroy walk ahead, marveling at the size of the room.

You cough, waving your way through it, and push back into clean air. It smells rather disgusting, like sweat and body odor.

You shake the white mist off, retching at the smell. You expect to feel some kind of change inside you, but nothing happens. You breathe a sigh of relief. The insects were enough poison for one day. You don’t want to end up like Nadia did.
In front of you appears a metallic woman, carved in the image of some alien race from long ago. She has three rows of horns on her head, and cloven hooves. Her breasts are large, but purely decorative. This is not a pleasure droid, rather, it appears to be part of an ancient defense system. Her voice was once surely beautiful, but age and neglect have rendered it tinny and metallic. You think its a miracle this robot’s still moving, it must have been lying here for centuries.
“What is your initiative?” she asks. “I am the watcher of the map, what is your initiative?”

Use: obtaining attributes of defeated alien beings, for research or personal use.” You have a hard time discerning what that means, but unless you have it wrong, the disc can somehow drain a particular attribute out of a beaten enemy, for you to use at your own convinience. You hurry to the pedestal, grabbing the map orb. It feels slightly warm in your hands. As the beeping intensifies, you yell at Nadia and Siegroy to get towards the entrance.

You sprint for the entrance, as fast as you can. Behind you you hear the penultimate beeps, and then a sizable blast. The robot explodes in a flurry of metallic shards and circuitry. The shrapnel flies past you, clattering over the floor and bouncing off the walls, but thankfully, you manage to stay safe, dodging and weaving through the danger. As you and Nadia safely reach the hallway you came in through, you hear a great rumbling behind you. The support columns that held up the ceiling have been badly impacted by the explosion, and have begun to crumble. The roof shakes, a few stones falling loose, and then, with the sound of an avalanche and the roar of a typhoon, it comes crashing down. The massive stones crush the robot and most of the room, leaving only a small area around the entranceway untouched. Nadia breathes a sigh of relief.
"Well, I suppose that's the end of that." she comments, and you laugh, the danger of the situation giving way to nervous humor.

You pull out your communicator and use your stylus to note down the writing on the orb. You can translate it back at the ship, but it’s much easier to read on your comm screen. Stowing the orb in your suit, you head outside
As you step outside, you blink in the bright light. Your vision returns to you, but what you see before you makes your blood run cold. Four figures stand in the clearing ahead, in front of a small dropship. Three are helmeted men dressed in military fatigues, with a white insignia on their chest. The symbol features a large sun, radiating heat, over two crossed swords.. They wield stun rifles and you see batons on their waists. The fourth figure you recognize well, and you wish you hadn’t. It’s Alex Enovich, your “co-worker”. Her long black hair is tied in a bun, in traditional military fashion. She wears black, skin-hugging red leather and knee-high black boots. Her pale skin gives her the look of an icy queen, and her cold blue eyes stare at you with triumphant disdain. You notice, now that she has her hair back, that there is a small silver disc implanted in her skin, just in front of her left ear.
Alex recognizes you with a nod as you exit the temple. “Jennifer! And is that Nadia? So good to see you.” Her lipstick-clad mouth turns up in a smile. “You certainly look like a mess. You didn’t trek all the way through that jungle, did you? Oh, you poor stupid little thing. You did all that work. In fact, I almost feel bad making it all for nothing.” She laughs. “Almost. I expect you to hand over that map at once, as I’m sure you’ve already realized. Face it. You’re in no fit state to go up against us. Not even your little kitty can get you out of this unharmed.” She extends her hand. “Make the smart choice, Jennifer.”

“Sorry.” you say. “The temple came down around us before I had a chance to grab it. If you send your boys in, you might be able to excavate it.” Alex frowns at you, placing a single finger on the disc on the side of her head. You make it out of the jungle without any more encounters. Siegroy’s presence seems to drive away any aggressive or dangerous animals, and you reach the settlement again without a problem. As you lead Siegroy into town he begins to growl angrily. Clearly he’d rather you stay in the woods. You snap your fingers twice, to no avail. Eventually, you bend over, grabbing him by the head and staring into his eyes. He whimpers, and you snap your fingers again. When you straighten up and head back to the ship, he reluctantly follows.
You return to your ship triumphantly. Nadia hurries off to the bathroom at once, desperately in need of a shower. After a few minutes you hear her sigh loudly as the water turns on. When Emily sees the orb she claps her hands excitedly. “You got it! Awesome, Jen! I’ll call Escorbin and let him know. Should I ask him to wire us more funds?”

“Of course!” you assure her. With Emily contented, you make up a small bed in the common room of your ship, out of an old inflatable mattress and some pillows. Siegroy lays down on it, purring happily. It’s likely the softest thing he’s ever slept on.
Now that your companions are safe and situated, you head to your room to translate the orb. Nadia’s sill in the shower, so until you can wash the slime and dirt off your body, you may as well get some work done. You gruelingly compare each symbol to the lexicon of ancient language, one by one. Eventually, after hours of work, a message begins to form. “The second is found by the hero of god.” it reads. “For the third he will brave mountains most high. EWU 190321, OIR 2311, RR 12.” You recognize the last part as co-ordinates, and punch them into your communicator's galactic map. They lead to Tarrasin, a fully urbanized city-planet. You realize that in the centuries since this map was made, the planet’s mountains must have been replaced by skyscrapers. This part of the hunt could be trickier.

“Of course, sir. I’ll be heading to Tarrasin.” you say. He nods.
“And I suppose you’ll be wanting money? I’ll have some credits sent to you. Say… two hundred?” This seems plenty generous to you, and you smile gracefully. You consider mentioning Alex and the Awakened Union soldiers, but decide against it. Escorbin signs off with a wave.
Emily punches the co-ordinates for Tarrasin into the navigation computer. The ship lifts off, piloted by the drone, and speeds into the atmosphere, making good time to the nearest warp gate. The trip to Tarrasin will take a while, so you probably have time for a couple of activities before you arrive, even after you shower and rinse the slime off you

I remember the last time we talked before starting this assignment. I was standing in the break room, with a cup of coffee. I had just gotten a pay raise. Alex noticed me and she came over to say congratulations. We talked about my raise for a while and the whole time she seemed like she was joking, like it was insignificant. When she left, I took another sip of my coffee and I almost passed out. I don’t know how, but I think she drugged it. And the thing is, I didn’t even do anything to her! She just tried to drug me because she felt like it! Maybe she thought it would be funny or something. And don’t say it wasn’t her, because it was. I know it.”
You calm Emily down a little, assuring her that you believe her. “Thanks.” she says. “It’s alright though, because we’ll beat her. And it’ll be worth it for the look on her face when we win.” You nod.
