6f2ceb No.8984[Last 50 Posts]

Welcome to the 4th thread for Seeker! When we last left off, you'd successfully navigated your way through a BDSM club, managing to avoid embarrassing yourself too badly. You're glad to be out of there unscathed, but now you find yourself confronting your target: a smarmy young bartender named Sven. Sven may be connected to the robbery of one of the map orbs to need to find your ultimate goal: the Amor Crystal, a source of great ancient power. Without further ado, the story continues!

14 rolled to intimidate, epic fail.

“Listen here, you brat.” you begin. “I’ve been screwed around enough today, in a disturbingly literal sense. So how about you do me a favor and tell me where the orb you nabbed from the Central Historical Society is. If you do, I’ll let you get out of here 100% intact and unscathed.”

Sven is silent for a moment. Then he breaks out in laughter. “Ha! Ha ha ha! Oh, no, please, don’t hurt me! Great and powerful valkyrie, I don’t know what I would do if you decided to attack me!” He can barely speak through his laughter. “Please. Don’t be absurd. If you want a drink, I’ll get you one, but there’s no need to threaten a poor bartender. And if you HAVE to threaten me, at least have the decency to be… scary.”

A) Confront him about the orb (charisma)
B) Challenge him to a drinking match (could have repercussions if you lose, now that you threatened him)
C) Ask Crystal to challenge him. (hard charisma check)
D) Ask Emily to challenge him (moderate charisma check)
E) Start a fight with him
F) Anon suggest

“Look, sorry. I just really need that orb. If you can help me find it, I would really really appreciate that. You seem like a decent guy, but you’ve got to understand, there are three of us and one of you. If we’re going to fight over it, you’re going to lose. You don’t understand how important this orb is to me.” Your voice is leveled and controlled, but you let just enough of your inner frustration through to make him see you mean it.

Sven sighs. “You think I don’t know how badly you want that thing? Really? Of course you want it. I want it too. Every gang this side of the galaxy wants it, now that the AU’s put out a reward for it.”

You register what he’s said. “The AU?”

“Yeah, the Awakened Union. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Unfriendly guys, big fans of guns and explosions.” You internally groan. Alex probably put that reward out. “Anyway, there’s a load of people on this planet looking for it. I can’t say for sure which gang stole it right now. All I know is that someone in the slums got their hands on it, and they’re probably looking for an appraiser. That’s what I do. Gangsters don’t like to be ripped off when they sell contraband. But let me make something very clear: I’m not helping you. I don’t want to get involved with this. Yeah, I tried to buy it. Yeah, I wanted it. But this is going to get out of hand fast, and I don’t want to be part of a gang war.”
Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. A deep voice booms “SVEN! We know you’re in there! We just wanna talk to yous!”

Sven pales. “I need you to do me a favor. Get behind the counter. Pretend you’re working the bar tonight. Please! If you do, I’ll… I’ll make some calls and see if I can find out who stole the damn thing!”

A) Help Sven and pretend to be the bartender
B) Refuse

Sven ducks behind the bar, hurriedly tossing you his clip-on tie, which you put on. What kind of man wears a clip-on tie? You make yourself look as official and professional as possible. Crystal helps you out by sitting at the bar, adding to the legitimacy of your appearance. You stare at the door as it opens.

There are two men entering the bar. One is short and thin, a human, but a rather unimpressive one, dressed in an ill-fitting suit. His nose is crooked, as if it’s been broken several times before. His hair is greasy and his demeanor is rat-like. Behind him stands a large Guargan man. His skin is a pale orange, with the look and texture of tanned leather. His eyes are sunken but quick and bright. His mouth is filled with tombstone-like teeth, and his four arms are crossed in front of his chest. He too is attempting to squeeze into a suit, a piece of clothing that must have been made for a Guargan three sizes smaller than him.

31 Disguise rolled, fail

“What can I get you gentlemen?” you ask, your voice cracking nervously. You damn yourself for not acting better.

“Yous can get me Sven.”” says the short man. “Now.”

C) Have Emily attack them from behind

“Sorry, fellas, but Sven ran out to stock up on seltzer water. We use it in a lot of our drinks and we somehow ran out.” you shrug. “He just left, you can probably catch him if you hurry.”

The small man nods. “Thanks, babydoll.” He heads toward the door. “Come on, Brunius!”

Brunius, the muscular Guargan, walks towards the bar. His small eyes scan the room. “Give me a minute, Vince. Something ain’t right here….”

“It’s probably the new decor.” you say. “We just changed things up. It’s subtle, but a few people said the same earlier tonight. You have a good eye!”

Brunius glares at you. “Yeah. The decor. Very nice.” He turns on his heel and follows Vince out the door. It slams shut behind them. Sven straightens up.

“Well, thank you! That was a nice save. You’ve spared me a rather nasty beating, I’m sure. Those two work with the Tommyknockers, a gang down in the slums. I don’t know why they’re after me. In fact, they were the gang I most suspected of nabbing the orb, but I suppose I can rule them out now.” He takes his tie back from you. “Anyway, I promised you I’d help you out and make some calls, and I told the truth. I’ll ask some of my connections and see if any of them know anything about the contraband or who might have taken it. When I find something out, I’ll let you know as soon as I can. Here’s my contact info. You won’t find me here anymore, so when I call you I’ll give you directions to my apartment.” He quickly ushers your little group out the door. Nadia is held up between Crystal and Emily.

It’s getting pretty late, almost midnight. You may want to head back to your ship. Alternately, you could always drop Nadia at the ship and head out somewhere else, but at night, crime can be a problem in this part of the city.

A) Head back to the ship and sleep

You take a cab back to your ship. The three of you work to get Nadia up the loading ramp and into the vessel, leaving her lying on the couch in the common room with a blanket draped over her. You turn to Crystal.

“Hey, Crystal, do you mind watching her? Just make sure she’s ok?” you ask

Crystal rolls her eyes. “Sure. Go have fun without me, while I watch the lightweight. No problem.”

You thank her, promising you’ll make it up to her later. As you leave, you warn her to keep an eye on Siegroy.

Make a 25+ training roll for Siegroy!

You and Emily head back to the cab terminal, debating where to go. Unfortunately, the District Authority will be closed at this hour.

A) Shopping district (medium crime chance)
B) Beauty row (spas and hair stylists, lower crime chance)
C) Historical Society (nonexistent crime chance)
D) Gym (medium crime chance)
E) Slums (very high crime chance)
F) Anons suggest (it’s a massive city, all suggestions are valid as long as you have a reason to go there)

“We should get some exercise.” you suggest to Emily. “I’ve had a few close calls lately, and I could use the toughness.

“Sure! I haven’t worked out since we left the company!” she says. Emily flags down the nearest cab, pulling you into it with her. “Nearest gym, please!” she requests, and the driver gives a silent nod before speeding away.

A few minutes later, the cab pulls up to a large building with a large neon sign that reads “Goldy’s Galactic Gym, Tarrasin Branch”. Emily leads the way inside. The large lobby is mostly empty at this time of night, but for a tired-looking clerk sitting behind the desk. He’s scribbling into a notebook while he leafs through a thick textbook. Must be a university student. You both walk up to the desk.

“Welcome to Goldy’s.” he says in a monotone voice. “What part of our facility do you want to use today?”

Yeah, I can put that stuff in there, sure. That's a good idea. Companions don't have respect ratings, since they're not particularly relevant, as you do all the talking for the party. If they are particularily honorable or notably classless, I'll make a note of it, but there's no meter.

“I think I’d like to up my speed.” muses Emily. You decide to improve your strength. It could help you in future fights. You hand over 60 credits and head through the double-doors to the gym. The gym floor is large, with signs leading off to the various areas of the gym. Emily waves goodbye as she heads off to the agility training. You follow the signage to the endurance room. Inside there are rows of machines, all consisting of a chair and a few hand and foot bars. You sit down in one, looking to your left at an LED screen, which instructs you on the exercise. The training mostly consists of presses and overhead lifts, but by the time 30 minutes have passed, your arms are sore and exhausted. Still, you can feel yourself getting slightly stronger in response. You groan, sitting up off the chair and heading back out to the lobby. Emily is waiting for you there, having just finished her own exercise.

“Hi Jen! Everything go well? I feel way less stressed now.” You agree, heading outside to grab a cab.

You were right, there are two. Both are humans, both are men. One is bald, with ugly ‘tribal’ tattoos on his head and a pointed beard you’re sure he thinks is very exotic. He looks like a weightlifter, with thick biceps and a wide neck. His companion is a thinner, taller man with dreadlocks and a pockmarked face, who couldn’t be more than 18. He holds a small stun stick in one hand.

“Just give us your money.” demands the kid with dreadlocks in a shaky voice. This seems like his first time mugging anyone. The tattooed man shakes his head. “Phil, no. Ya gotta be more intimidating. Like this. You ladies drop your money on the ground and walk away now, and I won’t do anything to hurt ya. But if you try to pick a fight with me, I’m gonna pound you hard once I lay the smackdown on ya.” He threatens you with a smug look, clearly thinking he’s quite impressive.

One of his hands rudely grabs at her crotch through her shorts, causing an indignated yelp from Emily. “Shut up, bitch.” Tattoo growls, struggling to maintain his grip on her.

“Get away from there!” she yells, trying to kick his shins. You level your gun at Tattoo’s head, but your hand shakes as you fire and your shot hits Emily in the stomach instead. She groans, her head slumping and her struggles slowing down. That probably didn’t feel good.

94 strength rolled for Emily, epic win!
91 agility rolled, epic win!

Emily gathers her strength, planting her legs firmly on the ground. You can see her face screw up in concentration, and then she crouches fast. Tattoos is taken aback, pulled forward by her sudden movement. Now in a squatting position with her captor bent over her, Emily twists to the side, hard. Tattoos is thrown off her back, slamming into the hard asphalt. His head smacks into the pavement with a “thwack”, and he groans in pain. Emily quickly jumps out of his reach before he can grab at her again, laughing as she does.

“That’s what you get for assaulting a lady, you musclebound freak! Mess with the bull, get the horns!” she yells back at him.

Emily’s free to move about the elevated street as she pleases. As usual, she’s not good for much but distraction and speed, so what should she do?

A) Taunt Tattoos
B) Taunt Dreads

Meanwhile, you easily jump out of Dreads’ way. He waves his stun stick in your direction, but doesn’t even appear to be TRYING to hit you. Maybe he’s too scared to get much closer. You press your advantage, dancing close to him and kicking him in the stomach with a boot-clad foot. He stumbles back, clutching his stomach, tears forming in his eyes. From your new position, you have a clear shot at both Dreads and the prone Tattoos. Dreads looks scared, his acne-covered face covered in signs of indecision. You might be able to scare him off with a few well-chosen threats.

“Hey, you with the stick!” yells Emily. “Your hair looks stupid, you gangster-wannabe dumbass!” To accentuate the point she laughs at him, her golden curls bouncing as she giggles. Dreads turns, looking at her, dumbfounded. He’s not as scared of her as he is of you, apparently, and he takes a few long strides toward her, raising his stun stick over his head. His form is awful, of course. The kid’s probably never even been shown how to use that weapon. Emily braces herself to move, preparing to stay out of his way and keep him from going after you.

Roll a 35+ agility check for Emily!

You aim your gun at Tattoos, firing a bolt of stunning energy straight into his chest as he struggles to stand. He falls back on his behind, groaning. Clearly this night isn’t going as well as he wanted it to. Rubbing his head, he grudgingly climbs to his feet, looking almost drunk as he staggers towards you. “You… dumb… cunt…” he moans, his voice hoarse and strained.

Dreads swings clumsily at Emily, but she jumps away, her curls bouncing. “Is that all you’ve got? You looked at least a little tougher than that!” Dreads lunges at her again, but fails miserable, almost tripping over himself in his efforts. Emily’s well out of harm’s way, and Dreads is too far from anyone to do any damage. She dashes towards him while he’s disoriented, her fist cocked.

You clear your throat, making sure they can both hear you. “Listen here! If you guys get out of here right now, we won’t hurt you any more than we have! Deal?” As you speak, you fail to notice that the button on your shorts popped off when you kicked Dreads, and ever since, they have been sliding down your thighs. As you try to take an imposing stance, you suddenly find that your shorts have slid down around your knees, exposing your white panties to the cool night air. Needless to say, Dreads and Tattoos aren’t scared by this display. Tattoos is still moving towards you, arms extended, almost knocked out. With your mobility severely limited by your fallen shorts, he could reach you in seconds.

Emily’s kick harmlessly grazes Dreads’ arm. Finally pulling himself together, Dreads grabs her by the foot, trying to pull her off balance. Emily hops around, doing her best to pull herself free.

You shoot Tattoos down handily. He groans, toppling over backwards, unconscious. By some luck chance, his knocked-out body smacks into Dreads’ arms. The skinny teenager screams when he sees the bigger man fall, jumping back away from the sleeping bodybuilder and releasing Emily. “Oh shit!” he yells. “You killed him!” Dreads looks up at you, and you cross your arms, presenting an intimidating visage. The teenager’s eyes widen, and he starts to back away from you. You take a single step forward and he turns tail and runs, sprinting down the raised street as fast as he can, desperate to get away from you.

Emily laughs as he runs. “What an idiot. Hey, see if the bug guy’s got any money. I think we’re entitled to it, don’t you?” You check his pockets. Sure enough, he has a wallet with 25 credits in it. It’ not much, but it’s some reimbursement. Not the most honorable behavior though…

“You’re right.” you agree, slipping the credits out of the big man’s wallet and dropping them into your pocket. You and Emily head back to the hovercab terminal, and catch a taxi back to the spaceport. Your ship is still where it was when you last left it. Looks like Crystal didn’t decide to run off the planet without you. Good to know that she’s trustworthy, at least. You head over to the access panel of the ship, tap in the entrance code and wait as the entry ramp descends.

The moment it begins to, you hear a loud voice yelling “Oh, fuck! Fuck me, master! Fuck meeeee!” The sound sends a chill down your spine, as you recognize the sultry voice as Crystal’s. You and Emily sprint up the ramp, hurriedly closing it behind you, and dash down the corridor to the common room. What you see there stuns you. Crystal’s clothes are torn and tattered, scraps of cloth and leather strewn across the floor. Her riding crop is snapped in two, lying on the coffee table in front of the still-unconscious Nadia.

Crystal herself is a sight to behold. The blue-skinned beauty is completely naked, on her hands and knees. Mounting her, his paw on her back and his cock deep in her love tunnel, is Siegroy. The big cat is growling dominantly as he thrusts into his lover, his mighty member plunging to the hilt into a hole that, unlike Nadia’s, is fully capable of accepting it. Crystal’s tits swing like pendulums beneath her, bouncing against each other as her body rocks and shakes. Her back is arched, displaying her face to you and Emily. Her hair is matted and tangled, her eyes are closed, and her mouth is wide open, drops of saliva forming at the corners. She seems to be reveling in the rough treatment Siegroy is subjecting her to. You’d never have guessed that the willful, ill-mannered dom would be cowed like this, least of all by a cat that can’t even speak. You thank your lucky stars, though, that it’s her instead oh Nadia.

“Take me!” Crystal yells, unaware of your presence. “Give me that cock, you dirty cat!”

Emily gasps loudly, her face a mask of repulsion. You loudly knock on the metal doorframe. “Er… Crystal?”

The blue-skinned dominatrix’s eyes snap open. She quickly takes in you and Emily standing in the doorway. There is a moment of uncomfortable silence, the only sound in the room being the rough “thump”ing of Siegroy’s hips against Crystal’s behind. Then, she scrambles to push the cat off, her hands shoving back at his striped fur. Her upper body falls to the floor, smushing her cheek into the white carpet, as she rambles out apologies.

“I’m sorry! I thought you’d be gone longer! Shit, I swear, I thought there was time. He just jumped up onto me! And I’m still a little tipsy from earlier and… ugh. DOWN BOY!” Her imperious voice seems to drive Siegroy back off her with force of will alone. The cat whimpers a little as he pulls his throbbing member out of her and slinks back over to his bed. Crystal struggles to her feet, legs slightly bowed. “He was trying to get at your friend, and I thought I could get him to back off. Instead, he just started humping me, and I…” she sighs. “You get the picture.”

You help Crystal gather up her clothes. Her pants have large tears in them, and her top is ripped to shreds entirely. The only article still intact is her leather jacket. Emily has stomped off to her room, not willing to look at the shameful scene for a second longer. You, too, find yourself rather repulsed by Crystal’s behavior, but you’ve seen before how convincing Siegroy can be. Perhaps trying to train a wild animal wasn’t your finest idea.

How should you handle Crystal?

A) Reprimand Crystal for her weakness (increased respect)

You drape Crystal’s jacket around her cerulean shoulders. She looks more irritated than anything, likely because she didn’t get a chance to finish her fun. She toys with her broken riding crop, looking frustrated. Siegroy must have broken it while he was making his advances. “I liked that crop. I only have three more at home.” she comments. Unlike Nadia’s traumatic and tearful reaction, she seems mostly unfazed by Siegroy’s sexual advances. Still, you do your best to reassure her.

“It’s fine, really. Siegroy’s like that. Great in a fight, but rowdy around the ship.” you shake your head dismissively. “Don’t worry about it. Emily’ll get over it too, I promise. It’s just a little gross to her right now.”

+1 affection towards you for Crystal!

Crystal nods. “Sure, whatever you say. Hey, you mind if I stay here tonight? I don’t want to walk back to my apartment half-naked. I’ll sleep on the couch.” You consent, running to your room to find her a spare blanket. Between the two of you, you carry the slumbering Nadia to her bedroom. Crystal takes her place on the comfortable couch, curling up beneath the thick blanket you’ve provided her. You turn up the heat a little to stave off the chilly city night, and then you climb into your own bed and quickly fall asleep.

You wake up to the sound of cooking. When you come out into the common room, you see that Crystal’s standing in front of the stove, cooking a large pan of scrambled eggs. She’s found an old apron in one of the kitchen cupboards and clothed herself in it. When she sees you she waves you over.

“Hey, do you take pepper with your eggs?” you nod. “I’m not gonna normally do this, ok? It’s just a little ‘thank-you’ for being chill about last night.” You say you understand and sit down at the table.

A few minutes later, your whole group has gathered around breakfast. Crystal’s not a bad cook, honestly, though the eggs are a little bit dry. Opening up a holographic map of the area, you start to think about what you’re going to do today. You think it might be best to stay away from the party district for now: those two gangsters you tricked have probably realized you fooled them by now, and you’d rather not run into them again. Sven still hasn’t contacted you, so you have plenty of time to kill.

“I feel like a jog.” you say out loud. Emily nods. “Sure!”

Nadia and Crystal begrudgingly agree, although Crystal asks to borrow some running clothes. Nadia offers to let her use a set of hers: it’s the least she can do after Crystal kept her safe last night. The four of you quickly change into skintight running clothes and step out of the ship, leaving Siegroy alone watching it.

Roll a 40+ training check for Siegroy!

Now that you can see the city in the daylight, you’re actually taken aback by how beautiful it is. Last night it looked like a jumbled mess of skyscraper outlines and neon lights (a feature the planet’s early nightfal helps with). But this morning, you can see it for the spectacle it truly is. Tarrasin is famed for being a hodgepodge of dozens of galactic cultures, and the architecture reflects that. Buildings in human styles- formal, imposing, and monolithic- blend brilliantly into the bright colors and curved walls of the Gella race, the militaristic elegance of Chutar buildings, and the rustic, utilitarian style of the Guargan people. Not one block consists of the same type of buildings: all tumble in together in a flurry of styles and colors, assaulting the eye with the art of an entire galaxy. The people coming and going are just as strange and exotic- some beings you see are from races you’ve never even heard of. The multi-level nature of the city further adds to the confusion and frenzy. From where you stand on the upper streets, you can see down to the surface, where huge transport trucks and freight trains speed along utility streets. There must be at least three levels in between, all with their own types of vehicles and buildings. Most of what you see is office buildings- this is a planet built on trade and commerce, after all, but thrown in with them are houses, business, and restaurants, all tossed together without order. Still, there’s a sort of lovely entropy to the whole thing, a quality you find highly endearing.

The planet’s single sun beats down through the mostly-clear atmosphere. Fifty years ago, this city would have been filled with smog and clouds, but thankfully civil engineering has come a long way. You lead your group over to the cab terminal, where the airborne vehicles come and go at dizzying speeds, and wait for a cab headed to the nearest park. Once one pulls up, the four of you manage to pile in and you’re off.

The park is quite lovely, one of many oxygen-producing tree sanctuaries on the surface. The cabbie drops you off by a large lake, and you agree as a group to run around it. Nadia starts to stretch her muscles, following her own rigid exercise routine, but before she can so much as touch her toes, Emily yells “GO!” and she’s off. Shrugging, the three of you jog behind her, keeping up a steady pace as you set out around the lake.

Once you’re halfway around you realize that the lake was deceptively large. It must be at least twice the size you thought it was. Still, you run along with your companions, making pleasant conversation through shallow breaths. You spend most of the time talking about your homes. You and Emily share details of childhoods back on Teral, boring years filled with school, sports, and video games. Nadia reveals that she spent most of her underage years in a rigorous boarding school, like most Chutar children. She tells you that her parents’ generation of the Chutar are remarkably racist, mostly against humans, and demand that their young be raised away from the influence of filthy humanity. As a result, it wasn’t until she was 15 that she really discovered the world outside her school, through night-time escapes and sneaking out with her friends. You ask Crystal about her own childhood, but the poor girl is too out of breath to even answer. You’d expect she’d be in better shape, considering her line of work. She’s certainly not overweight, either, rather slight, in fact. You resolve to help her train a little sometime.

6f2ceb No.9570

After around an hour of running, you’ve made it all the way around the lake. You’re all out of breath, but nobody’s felt it more than Crystal, who’s bent over and looking like she might throw up. Taking pity on her, the four of you head to a nearby cafe, where you get some water and grab a corner table. You finish up your conversation about childhoods. You try to bring up Crystal’s youth again, but she seems to pretend not to have heard you.

“So, Crystal, huh? Does that name come from anything?” asks Emily, changing the subject. Crystal looks evasive.

“Uh, no. I picked it for myself, actually.” she says. “My real name’s Violet, but I’ve always hated that. Especially with, you know, the skin.”

Nadia looks up from her glass of water. “You chose your own name? That is how my people name ourselves. We pick names at the age of ten. Until then we are called by childish nicknames. Mine was “biting one”.”

“Yeah, that’s interesting and all, but I changed mine out of hate, not out of ancient customs. Sorry.” Crystal shrugs.

“I think you should change it back.” says Nadia. “Names are important. They are the markings of your spirit.”

Do you think Crystal should keep her current name?

A) Crystal is a good name, she should keep it.
B) Violet is a nice name, she should change it back.

You shake your head. “Hey, if she wants to pick her name, let her. It’s her right.” Nadia backs down, nodding in agreement.

“I’m sorry, I did not mean to impose. Human ideals are still strange to me sometimes.”

“No harm done.” says Crystal with a shrug. The table is silent for a moment. Then, Emily speaks up again.

“What’s with the blue skin, anyway? You’re a human, right? Are you one of those alien-kin people who thinks they’re actually a different species?”

“No!” Crystal protests defensively. “No, those people are fuckin’ weird. I just… well, yeah, I’d really rather not talk about my skin right now. If it’s all the same to you, could you dial it back on the inquisition?” Emily opens her mouth as if she’s about to say something else, but then falls silent. It occurs to you that this might be a good time to head back to the ship, and you suggest just that. The group rallies, leaves the cafe, and grabs a cab back to the ship.

As the four of you approach the ship, you hear a great clattering inside, and a loud yowling sound. You realize with concern that it’s Siegroy. You quickly tap in your entrance code, but the moment the ramp opens up, the jungle cat barrels past you, making a break for the street. You jump to try to stop him, adrenaline pumping into you as you try to prevent the beast from fleeing into the city.

Within a minute, he’s turning a corner and leaving sight completely. Well, that’s the end of that. Your adventure in pet ownership has ended, for now. Nadia seems to breathe a sigh of relief as he goes, and you can’t blame her. Crystal, on the other hand, looks legitimately disappointed. At least your run was successful. You feel much faster, and with the exception of Crystal, your friends all feel the same.

You head into the ship to change and shower. Once you eat lunch, you have time to head out for an early afternoon activity, if you’d like.

You wave good-bye to your companions as they head off to do their own readings. You decide this was a good idea. It could help to have Emily learn a little about persuasion, and Crystal seems tough enough to defend herself if she learns how. Your reading, meanwhile, is of a much more serious nature. You make your way through the library’s vast directory, searching for the rooms containing data on galactic history and politics. Eventually you find it, and enter, to find a room filled with towering stacks of data discs. Looking through in alphabetical order, you eventually find the “A” section and search it until you find two discs labeled “Awakened Union”. You plug the first disc into the terminal and a huge body of holographic text is projected onto the wall.

78 intelligence rolled, pass

You set to work, reading about the Union. The first few pages cover the creation of the orgainization. Apparently, 40 years ago, a particularly freedom-loving galactic senator named Ronp Aul decided that the Commune’s government was too oppressive and harsh. When he attempted to revoke laws against crimes like smuggling, arms dealing, and drug trafficking, he found that the media rejected him, and his fellow politicians laughed at him. Aul insisted that people should have the freedom to do as they pleased, but the government disagreed. Eventually, he inherited a large sum of money and used to to campaign for galactic president. He selected the young politician Elvar Malasin as his running mate. Ronp Aul lost, and when he did he retired with his wealth to a manor in the outer rim. Malasin thought he had become too weak, and consequently murdered him, stealing his wealth and influence and using it to organize terrorist attacks against the Commune. He gathered mercenaries and criminals to his cause, and terrorised the galaxy for several years before he was defeated and forced to flee to the outer reaches. It was there that he established another galactic power, one he called the Awakened Union, since he had “woken up” to the Commune’s conspiracies and oppression. Malasin stayed out there for the next thirty years, his raiders launching attacks on the edges of the Commune, but for the most part remaining helpless against their superior weapons. It occurs to you when you read this that the Awakened Union wants the Amor Crystal to fight against the Commune, and perhaps even overthrow them. As you finish the text, it is revealed that Eldar Malasin was killed in an assassination mission around 5 years ago, but his organization still survives, mercilessly destroying all that it can. A chill runs down your spine.

You are pulled from your reading by the sound of footsteps coming down the hall.

The man stomps over to the stacks of data discs. You hurriedly duck into a dark corner. He peers around, searching for you as best he can. At one point he seems to look directly at you, but sees nothing. After a minute, he heads back to the projector, scoops up the discs concerning the Awakened Union, and hurries out of the room. As you straighten up, you see he has dropped something behind him. It’s a small coin, with a lizard emblazoned on one side. It looks fairly new. Maybe Sven or one of the professionals at the Historical Society might know something about it. You pocket the lizard coin and head out of the room, careful to check around for more AU soldiers. You wonder what the mercenary was doing here. Clearly he was attempting to steal information on his organization from the library, but why now? Could this mean that there are more mercenaries around? Have they followed you?

You rendezvous with Crystal and Emily in the lobby. They both appear to have learned quite a bit about their respective subjects. All of you feel more well-versed and intelligent as a whole.

+1 intelligence to you all!
+1 skill with guns and energy weapons to Crystal!
+1 to persuasion for Emily!

Suddenly, you hear a rapid beeping coming from your communicator. It’s an unknown number. You accept the call, and Sven’s voice echoes out from the comm.

“Hey. I think I might have figured out who’s got your orb. When you feel like it, head down to the slums and meet me at the blue Guargan statue. Any taxi driver knows where it is. Try not to bring too much of your pack with you, or you’ll attract some unwanted attention. Don’t take too long, I’ve got stuff to do.” Without waiting for you to respond, Sven signs off. You debate following his instructions. It could still be a trap, after all. You don’t have any reason to trust Sven. You wonder if you should head somewhere else first. You might have to beat a quick escape, this could be your last chance on the planet. You could stock up on weapons, or try to buy some mental implants. A spa visit could feel nice.
