I think shit like pic related is understandably seen as dumb. It's very affected and deliberately panders to the wearer's aspirations, rather than their perception by others.

I was thinking we should shoot for something classic, appealing to girls, and that projects an authentic masculinity. It's a tall order to be sure, but I think pic related might be on the right track.

Fashion is definitely something we need to pay more attention to, but I don't think we need to have a uniform or anything.

I think older guys pull it off better, and younger guys look like they're trying a bit too hard. Young men should stick to streetwear or gothninja type shit.

The thing that I noticed was that his young guy outfit gave off the party guy kinda vibe, which probably isn't what most of us are going for. I assume that most /pol/acks aren't cool enough for that sort of stuff to seem genuine, and they probably want to be taking some symbolic stand against degeneracy anyway. But I think I see what you mean on the whole.

And yeah, I think uniform would be stupid too. It would to clearly give us away as unified on some level, which would make us all guilty of whatever another one of us did by association, and it's just kinda weird and creepy to have people walking around in the same thing.

I do not understand why some people insist on wearing ties. They serve no real purpose.
Granted, a three piece suit looks weird without one, but a tie as an article of clothing is completely useless.

My biggest problem with neckties is that they serve no practical purpose.
At least a scarf warms your neck, a hankerchief can be useful, a hat can protect you from sun, wind and rain, but a tie is an obsolete item with no practical purpose. It is exclusively a status symbol.
It is not practical to create your own symbols, unless you are already successful and being a trend setter is always pioneer work,
but clearly we can do better than wearing useless items. Wigs and canes used to be great status symbols.
Today they are considered useless, silly and obsolete. I hope bow ties and other neckties suffer the same fate.

I did read both of your articles, neither one of which dealt with ties.
I only skimmed through the wikipedia page, but i found this comment interesting:
