Don't have a car, my room is about 8x9x12' (guessing). Quantity of charcoal required to fill the room w/ lethal CO? How not to burn down the house? Pic unrelated

I would like info on this too.My room 10ft x 10ft.I have 3 disposable bbs grills.

Could you be more precise so others can help you better.

000000 No.11003

Also see >>10928 here they've used a shipping container and a charcoal brazier to generate carbon monoxide.

The info is from the Peaceful Pill eHandbook from 2011, see >>10932

It's pretty unlikely, but are you the guy from /r9k/ who was thinking about doing it with random medicine cabinet stuff?

No that's not me

>>11002

Unfortunately I can't. No measuring tape long enough.

Thanks for the links.

I am worried about the gas potentially affecting others. I live with two roommates in one half of a duplex. How do I take safety precautions about this?

>I am worried about the gas potentially affecting others.

This should worry you because it's a highly toxic poisonous gas.

Carbon monoxide is heavier than air so it falls down, make sure CO doesn't leak through the floor, or anywhere for that matter.

Also, if you can, don't do it when you live so close to other people, maybe find a abandoned house, building, whatever, somewhere you can seal things of and bring in the glowing charcoal, and start producing copious amount of carbon monoxide.

>Carbon monoxide is heavier than air so it falls down

Not true …

From http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=13905.msg168417#msg168417

>While CO is marginally lighter than air the fact that it's usually a combustion product means its usually warmer than the air round it. This means it acts like it's quite a lot lighter than air.

From http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=13905.msg168344#msg168344

>CO: molar mass = 12 + 16 = 28

>N2: molar mass = 14 + 14 = 28

>O2: molar mass = 16 + 16 = 32

>Dry air: ~ 4/5N2 + 1/5 O2: molar mass = >28*4/5 + 32*1/5 = 28.8

>So CO is lighter than dry air.

CO is not heavier than air, though I've heard many times it is… strange.

Presumably someone will find me and open the door. Will they be hit in the face with a blast of CO?

You'll absolutely need to place warning signs in order to prevent people from getting killed.
