It's just about hunting season here, which seems like a perfect time and excuse to finally blow my brains out once and for all. Getting a hunting rifle is gravy. There's no waiting period in my state and the purchase won't look suspicious.

What I want to know is a hunting rifle as effective as, say, a shot gun? I've never been hunting, and my knowledge of firearms is mostly restricted to video games. I know any gun can kill you with relative ease, but with my luck I'd be the 1% to potato myself trying. I want to minimize the chance of walking it off by destroying as much of my skull in the process as possible.

So, good idea? Bad idea? What kind should I get? Money's not too big of a deal. I've got a decent line of credit, and I don't need it where I'm going.

A rifle round is going to be very likely to remain solid, penetrate completely and leave the body, which is less fatal. If you're going to use a rifle, I recommend trying to get a low velocity hollow point round. Even a shot to the head with a high power round might not be fatal, unless you destroy the right parts of the brain - better to increase coverage with a hollow point.

Yeah I'm considering this too. Problem is I have never been around gins so i have no idea what id be doing in terms of buying a gun.

Ive wondered though, the military isnt trained for head shots they are trained for center mass shots. Shouldnt i be going for my heart instead of my brain? Wouldnt it be more effective in killing me?>>12392

You'd die either way given that you can be alone for at least a few hours. It would be relatively slow and agonizing compared to a headshot. Just be sure the gun is in your mouth at a 45 degree angle. I'm not /k/, so I don't know if a hunting rifle is good enough, but you can make a slam-fire shotgun for 20-35 bucks if I remember correctly.

Something you have to consider when it come to killing others in the military is that they're trying to defend themselves and conquer, not make it less painful for the person getting shot. They shoot at the chest because, even though it doesn't kill a person instantly, it's way easier to hit than the head at almost any range and people tend to stop fighting when they're too busy feeling some of the worst pain ever.

In the military, you aim center mass at long range (100+ yards), because generally people who are shot stop fighting, and even if they want to, it'll be hard to engage targets at long range while wounded in the torso. At close range, you fire 2 at the chest, 1 at the head. While the first 2 shots to the chest are generally going to be fatal and PROBABLY stop the target, the extra shot to the head is meant to ensure the target will not be able to respond.

Firearms don't kill people instantly like in the movies. Even when someone is fatally shot in the chest, and couldn't be saved even with medical assistance, they frequently don't just instantly die or lose conciousness, it can take minutes or hours.

A centerfire rifle in any hunting caliber is going to completely destroy your brain and most of your head along with it.

Don't believe me? Look up videos of ISIS executing people with AK-47's, that's a 7.62x39 mm round, quite similar to many calibers found in common bolt action hunting rifles. Anything like a .270 Win, .300 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, .308 is going to cause catastrophic damage.
