Women's menstrual cycles are tied to the moon's cycles. Men's hormones are also probably partially tied to it, though no where near as much as womens (unless they've taken too many drugs and are partially under the influence to the point of delirium, advise not taking LSD while full moon in bad neighborhood).
The moon is also showing all of it's face as the sun's light reflects off of it therefor making it the brightest object in the sky, overcoming all the other stars.
If you are focused on the moon's cycles, you should also factor in planetary positions in regards to the moon and the sun.
