I wanna be hype but…

-Dialogue wheel rather than just a list of dialogue options, meaning you have only 4 different choices. Mass Effect did do this well however so could still be some hope.

-Looks like there's a massive reliance on triggered events

*Sees dog* 'Hey boy! What are you doing out here?' What if my character hates dogs? I remember seeing dogmeat in fallout 3 for the first time and you could call him a stupid mutt. This is supposed to be an rpg after all.

-*Gets in a giant fuckoff impossible to destroy suit and holds the right trigger/lmb killing everything.*

Looks much like playing as the werewolf in Skyrim, i.e. boring as hell. Just beat everything to death with no tactics required.

The positives:

-Graphics look nice

-Interface/HUD is well designed

Other than that the trailer doesn't go into much detail about freedom to explore or factions etc.

Role-playing has been eschewed for muh cinematics, muh directorial vision, muh golly gee it's too difficult to program in too many possibilities so fuck the consumer. But the consumer gobbles it up regardless, so anybody wanting to role-play, to act as an avatar in that world, is going to have a quarter of the options they would've nearly two decades ago.

It's been this way for a good long while, perhaps since Oblivion, and I don't know why people expect it to change any time soon.

AAA games can't be good anymore. It's turned into the film industry (and became even bigger). They create these huge million dollar games (most of it goes to stuff that will exploit your brain into buying the product, akin to using yellow and red color in the food industry; and many other tricks) and the only thing that matters to them is max profits. This is partly because the developers no longer have control. The people who have control are the same business men that came from Wall Street who saw this emergence of an industry and an opportunity to exploit it.

Our culture that gives handouts to any that try is anti-best. There is no best anymore, everything is the same (read Harrison Bergeron (watch Whiplash too; it's sort of relevant)) which causes nothing but mediocrity. This affects games causing them to be mediocrity even with indie studios. Capitalism as we know it is also a problem that causes mediocrity from only caring about max profits. These (being mediocre and maximizing profit) are taught in our society. So, who would we blame for this problem? It's like the problem of the drug dealer and the drug user (who is in the wrong?(answer: both)), except the drug user was forced to do drugs by another individual. That individual is the education system which I won't get into here.

These games are bigger than films too so they bring in a lot of influence. Don't you think someone might want to exploit that amount of influence? They are but that's another discussion.

Mediocrity and exploitation and max profit at all cost. This game won't be good.

On the plus side, even the stupid people that buy every AAA game to come down the pike, and nothing else, know what they're getting into.

I do feel for graphicsfags that also value good gameplay and storytelling, though. Nobody's going to sink millions into AAA graphics for something like Binding of Isaac that casuals won't even ever hear about.

The entire industry has been fucking stagnant since consoles started to dictate the rate of progress that can actually be made.
