Hey /svidya/, has any of you 3 lurkers played these games? I'm currently playing Phantasy Star Generation 2, a PS2 remake of the original Phantasy Star 2.

I already beat Generation 1 and Phantasy Star 3 beforehand.

I can't say I'm a fan of the reworked battle system but I like how they fleshed out the characters adding more lines to the NPCs but some things do feel out of place.

One of these things that feel off is the intro for example. It might be just my personal taste but I feel the original gives a dystopian vibe much better than the remake.

I plan on eventually beating this game and finishing with Phantasy Star IV.

Do any of you have a recommendation for characters in PSG2? People keep joining the party at level 1 and I can't have more than 4 active at the same time. I just got my 7th member but I don't feel the need to switch at all. The first 4 (Eusis, Nei, Rudger and Anna) already form a solid party combination.

There was another half to this post but 8chan ate it. And I can't upload the image I wanted to use without modifying it since it says there is a duplicate at post >>21406 which, as far as I can see, doesn't exist.

Nevermind.

 No.21410

I've always been a huge PSO fan but I've never really been sure which of the originals are actually worth my time.

 No.21411

PSO and PS1-4 don't have much in common besides the setting. That and PS1 is a game that came out in '87. Even with a ps2 remake the gameplay feels a bit dated.

PS2 happens about 1,000 years later in the same 3 planets.

I'm not sure if PS4 happens 1,000 years later than 2 but I'm pretty sure it does.

PS3 is a spin off and feels like an unfinished game.

PS3 and PS4 don't have have remakes.

So the games in the series are pretty much each standalone titles like the Final Fantasy games then?

 No.21416

>>21412

No, there is a continuity. You won't be playing with the children of PS1 cast but the important cities remain the same. They do look different because of the time difference of course.
