If it isn’t video games, there are plenty of other boards on 8ch to facilitate your interests. And in the event that there aren’t, you can always just make one of your own!
There are basically two kinds of video game discussion that are allowed.
Primary:
"Hey guys lets talk about Vidya: The Game and how good/bad it is."Secondary:
"There's this Vidya-themed event, are any of you going?"Aside from the most obviously non-vidya stuff, what are also not allowed are sneakier attempts at off-topic discussion such as the following:
“Hey guys what’s your favorite food to eat while vidyan?”These thread starters are not really about video games at all and they do not promote video game discussion within them.
Porn is allowed if it's part of a discussion, but please use spoilers. /svidya/ is not your one-stop shop for your porn needs, so please try not to make threads solely for the purpose of porn dumps. There’s plenty of dedicated porn boards on 8ch (we even link one!), and we all remember what happened to 4chan's /gif/ board.
If you suspect someone is attempting to advertise please do report it. We will try our best to remove advertising in only the most clear-cut instances. This does not mean a game developer can't stop by and be upfront and open about discussing their own game.
Dubs posting and other ways to draw attention to the fact that a 10% chance event happened to your post number are /b/ shit and thus do not belong on /svidya/. You are welcome to articulate how OP is a fag however you please, but trying to shit up a discussion with lazy spam that only promotes others to do the same is just a recipe for board sliding.
When you decide that you have the insight to discern whether or not a thread deserves to be shat up, it empowers other users to think the same. Now perhaps you personally are wise enough to do it responsibly, but the inevitable result is that other crybabies who aren't so wise end up using the same tactics to kill discussions whenever they can't handle disagreeable opinions. If you think a thread genuinely doesn’t belong on /svidya/, then just report it!
