So I'm new to this tumblr thing. I find the site and individual blogs a pain to navigate. It doesn't help that every damn blog has its own particularities.
SWC, for example, seems really dreadful to navigate. You gotta scroll and click arrows continuously to see older content. Can't seem to page skip. Have to mouseover posts to see tags and date. Following up on older content after a break is a pain, since I need to scroll and click a lot to get pack to where I was. There seem to be a lot of duplicate posts, although some of those are due to conversations. But why doesn't it just show the final form of conversations, instead of scrolling down and seeing earlier versions over and over?
So, yeah. Is SWC just meant to be something you only read if you follow current posts? Is Tumblr just a shitty site to navigate or is SWC deliberately shitty?

Tumblr's basically a blogging site infused with the Twitter aesthetic. So actually navigating any for old content is a pain. The archive system in particular is a bitch to use if you're looking for old text posts that might be untagged.

well we could technically refuckulate the front end, but that would involve being a fucking web programming master, and I'm an artistic genius who doesn't have the time.
but in general, the infinite scroll option tended to crash the shitty ass fucking site constantly, so we had to disable that.

Yes, that's just how tumblr works. You have to keep up with it daily or you get lost under a tidal wave of posts. Same applies to twitter. Tumblr is really just an ultra deluxe twitter.
There is an "archive" page on every tumblr. But some themes don't display a link to it. Some themes don't let you search, some themes don't let you see the archive, some themes don't even let you see a like or reblog button.

It wasn't that hard to navigate SWC. You were able to go to the archive page and select the month and then just look through the list for a specific post. Not all tumblrs have that option or at least make it easy to find. Some just make you have to keep backtracking
