Because it shows you’re a bit to obsessed with your mary sue if you want to shoehorn him into random stories. It kind of reminds me of a guy I used to know, who painted as a hobby. He would only paint one thing, a face that was vaguely resembling his own. Which is also a problem that many professional artists seem to face in a way; mastering morphology, shading, perspective etc. But for some reason they have a very narrow range of faces that all eerily resemble each other.

If you’re recycling characters you’re just denying yourself opportunities to write different characters. You need to practice your craft to improve, and I do think proper and nuanced characterization is one significant part of that.

You talked a lot about being a great writer but I haven’t seen it so far. Kill Everything seems like a collection a weak jokes and tired memes. You did mention humour may not be your strong suit. I don’t think you’ll grow much as a writer if you’re being lazy and self-indulgent with your characterization.

And if you hate anime so much, why would you write a mecha story? And if parody is your defence, think about it a bit. The only people who could care about mecha show parodies are people who have watched mecha shows. Much like shitty 4chan-tier jokes in your Kill Everything comic, you complain about the intellectual deficiency of channers a lot, but you don’t seem to hesitate in regurgitating their humour in your own work.

This isn’t about the details, its about character motivation. You described Thomas a someone who seeks excitement, more specifically I think you mentioned he loved to hunt and eat carcasses out in the woods. But how much excitement does he get from hunting? It seems like no animal would be even remotely a challenge for a giant werewolf, unless he’s hunting risk beasts. He says he hates socializing, and people don’t like him around. But then you describe the cat girl enjoying his company, and he seems to warm up to her over time.

Anyway, I’m still curious about your writing. I’m hoping to see some of your non-humour work eventually. Or maybe just humour that is actually funny.

Lisa is the result of someone who thought that Earthbound wasn't obtuse or existentially horrifying enough. Game requires a walkthrough, ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES. The ending is over the top dismal and depressing to the point where it's kind of not anymore. The game's easily 10 hours, which is kind of agonizing. Lots of weird humor. Tons of really creepy bits. Kinda glad I played it but I will not play the sequel (I hear it's even harder, which I don't need in my life).

The book itself is pretty much about done, just needs a little fine tuning. I wish I could work on it more often, if it wasn't for my real life job.

I do want to do at least one or two more podcasts before we potentially quit podcasts forever.
