Me and SE have never actually kept up with her of our own volition, we relied entirely on submissions from readers. I couldn't stand to follow her tumblr or twitter, maybe when I was younger I would've done that, but these days I just don't have the stomach for it. I always did like submitting the posts about her though. SWC was a good communal blog I would say. It was a group effort. Even getting our blog deleted was a group effort. Yay!

God damn that's pathetic, comixology has shilled relentlessly for her comics, I've been following them for a couple years and I've found it extremely annoying how often they've plugged her comics, just because she's a woman. And does that create any loyalty with her? Is she grateful in any way to people who tried to sell her comics for her? Fuck no. She barely has emotions as it is, except when needed to play the victim.
Her podcast was probably a waste of server space to them, they put it on there as a favor to an "up and coming female creator." Comics don't have sound. Putting song lyrics in comics doesn't do anything for the reader. It's like visiting a lyrics site instead of listening to the album. Who would do this? Only an idiot would do this.
Easily the most offensive example of "omg music in comics, how can I make them see the beauty of music in a purely visual medium" is from this issue of Sex Criminals where the writer wanted to have the main character sing a Queen song. Turns out they couldn't secure the rights. But fuck rewriting the scene, because it's such a cool scene man! The readers don't need to even READ the lyrics, they can just understand that we wrote a cool scene with a cool song and they'll somehow FEEL our intent to be cool!
So their "clever" idea of self-censorship was to explain why they couldn't print the lyrics. This took place in actual dialogue balloons. This went on for pages and pages.
And no, they didn't fix it in the trade.

Unreadable by the time the author even tries to advance the initial action scene… in issue 4.
Art-wise a part that bugs me is none of the areas look right except for the faux-Williamsburg apartment: check out the sex shop, the bank, or that bar above. They are more like soundstages designed by somebody who don't get outside their own world too much. Any guesses on how many looks are based off of friends? I wonder.

I was watching a Bergman film for the first time and when it was over I was almost overwhelmed by what I had just seen. And hours later it occurred to me that the SJW could never experience anything like that. They lack context. The Bergman film I watched (Persona, if you must know, good film too) is ostensibly "feminist" in nature. But perhaps it's just an interesting film, one that lends itself to being analyzed. And yet the SJW would never do this. The SJW can only view this film as "feminist" or "not-feminist". And so having made the distinction, the analysis is not necessary. In fact, analysis only confuses the issue.
The SJW seeks simplicity in all things. A black and white world that contains only black and white art. No wonder all forms of art have been completely stifled since the 1960's. How can true artistic expression thrive in a social environment that requires everything remaining stable and sanitary? No wonder all true artists must look backwards decades in order to find art which speaks to them. No wonder the comics industry has never found its legs - with a few exceptions, the industry has never produced anything that could be called "art". How could it? It was an industry born to sell newspapers to illiterates, and by the time it had progressed to the floppies, liberal notions had taken hold and put the kibosh on any true sparks of genius that might emerge.
SJW mentality had the easiest time taking hold in the comics industry, and it will be the last art form to respond to a cultural revolution. When films and literature return to asking and attempting to answer the great questions of our time, comics will still be trudging along, providing the same old capes-n-tights fantasies that they always have.
I don't know what's more pathetic - the fact that Kate Leth and company will likely be working in comics for decades, or the fact that they will somehow treat this as an achievement. I finally saw Star Wars and I was blown away by how banal, pandering, and one-dimensional it was. I rolled my eyes the hardest when the black guy specifically mentioned he ran away after his very first battle, in which he didn't fire a shot. It removes all doubt about this character's guilt. I was thinking early on that maybe this Finn guy would have a past, have some regrets about the innocent people he was forced to kill. Nope. He's just an innocent black youth who dindu nuffin.
It's a great example of how censorship affects a story. Rey couldn't be seen to struggle in a fight because that would undermine the "women are strong" narrative. Finn couldn't have done bad things because that would undermine the "innocent black boy" narrative.
Contrast that with the original trilogy, wherein Luke is weak-willed and ignorant, Han is scruffy and shady, and Leia is arrogant and hostile. All three characters grow and change and become better heroes by the end of the trilogy. There's no possibility for that here because Rey and Finn have no flaws to overcome.
This is storytelling 101 and I guarantee Kasdan's script was a lot better before they butchered it up for a social justice audience.

In my darkest dreams, that's what I would make real. Me and SE mod writing comics, with Cool Mod and Forge and perhaps Clumzor, maybe even Sparrow (if they'd be up for that, and this is only in a fantasy ideal world where we have money to run an actual comics company, which isn't going to happen any time soon).
Look at the great comics that are being posted to the internet though. People just post them. You could probably get people to pay even a pittance for them. That's how they did shit in the Zap comics era, the underground comix, people paid money for them because they were interesting to read. The shit existing on the internet is still interesting to read, it can always be interesting to read, and it can be printed and sold. The only difference is that it's so goddamn different from capeshit which is seen to dominate the market. I say fuck the market, throw it out the window and create a new one. But it might not work, which means the first attempt would probably be a big failure. Plus the direct market, i.e. physical comic book stores, would have to sell them under the table or something because a lot of them would be pretty pornographic. I've seen comic stores, kids go in there, and I understand you can't just throw blatant porn on the shelves and smile and pretend it's all okay.
But I'm not even saying "we should all make comics that are blatant porn!" I have plenty of ideas for comics that aren't pornographic at all, I've written a couple to completion. Maybe one day I'll get them drawn and published. But certainly not by the big two, and probably not by Dark Horse either. Image seems possible, but that's a big fat IF, if I ever really try to get published with the comics I've written (and I don't mean Kill Everything or whatever).

The irony of this is that she gets Patreon bucks ($1400 per comic, 3-4 comics per month) for this. But of course it's typical SJW fare. The only thing they understand is shopping and their vaginas. If retailers were smart they'd abandon ship and do some sort of collective online venture. Digital has BEEN the future of comics for at least the past 10 years, but everyone's got Stockholm syndrome with their print comics. The print comic system is abusive to everyone. The retailers get screwed, the customers get screwed.
Even the online customers get screwed because why am I paying $4 for a digital comic? I understand the cost of paper for a print comic, but they didn't have to buy any paper to give me the digital one. But of course they can't discount the digital version because the Stockholm idiots will cry "unfair". It's just a bad system that needs to die.

That's the trouble isn't it? The artists bottleneck the process. Good writers can write half a dozen good comics at once but you're not going to get a good artist to work on it unless you have money. And nowadays the artists can just do their OWN comic and write it terribly but if they have an art style people like it will be read (and paid for) anyway.
It always comes down to money. So many projects can't happen even in the Patreon era because it takes so long for a Patreon to build to "livable income" levels. If you stick with it for 5 years you'll have enough of a following to get a few thousand a month, but you can't keep an artist around for 5 years if he's not earning dick. So it's only the writer/artist solo acts that thrive, even if they're mediocre at one or both of those things.
Maybe I'm too bitter. I'm just going by the successful people I've seen over the past 15 years. They all seem to follow a similar path.

Virtue signalling. To the people who do it, they figure it works even if no one's really looking, in fact if anything they probably think it makes them even MORE moral.
As far as writing, it is easier, but that can be its own pitfall, because if you're shitting out 10 different comic scripts or stories while only one artist can handle it at a time, the stories might not come out as worthwhile either. I think that a story should be worked on as hard as an artist works on the art. The writing will probably still be done sooner even with that, but it should come out better. But the comics industry only works issue to issue most of the time, so you don't even get that. Stories are almost always written in incomplete chunks and then simply finished afterwards. I wonder how much better comics could be if they were written in completion before they were even drawn.
I think it's pretty important for a writer to still have a day job, something that finances them. Writing purely as work is something that sounds more like a compulsion, or something that can only be supported by massive fame and a steady stream of royalty checks. But with a day job, at least a really light part time one, you have something to work towards. Doing other things can lead to a lot of "out of the blue" ideas to add to a story. It also slows the writing process down enough that you're not just going to be shitting out stories and throwing them out to be made. It'll give you more time to work on it. But then again, I'm not really a writer, so I can't say for sure. That's simply the approach I've been taking so far.

There are a few books, although the majority focus heavily or solely on MAD Magazine since that's what survived over the years (They moved over to a 'magazine' format to escape the Comics Code). It's clear that the basket cases behind trash like 'Seduction of the Innocent' and government hearings couldn't muster up a clue between each other. I'd argue that EC, contrary to claims against them, were generally moralistic and for American values - Check out the Crime and Horror comics for sure. Stories just happened to be for an older audience, and they aren't exactly all happy endings. Maybe ahead of the curve at the time yet nothing particularly worthy of the moral panic that used them as scapegoats.
I've enjoyed the recent collections from Fantagraphics as they do delve into some of the history with the foundation of EC and the early days. It's supplementary material to the comics, though, so don't expect a comprehensive in-depth read.
