On the brighter side of things: I don't get the impression anybody is trying to be The Next Penny-Arcade in 2015. All those expansion sites & projects died off. PA's legacy seems to be limited to PAX.

Back in the day it felt like every motherfucker on a comic host was aping them - down to the same art style and format.

I'd say so, primarily because of SJWs shitting everything up, which is what happens EVERY time they invade a space. It happened with atheism, it's happening in comics, it's happening in video games, it's happening in tabletop gaming.

PA sucks, but not aggressively or offensively like say, shortpacked.

I've noticed that every Penny Arcade strip has them making some sort of wildly-exaggerated expression now. Sometimes in every panel.

It's like they're really trying to appeal to the 12-year-old "I don't get subtlety at all" crowd. Or they just happened to hire an intern who's watched too much anime.

The old comics weren't great writing, but there was sometimes some quality satire to be found. I'd say this new stuff is obvious with the jokes, but most of the time I can't even find the joke. I guess you're just supposed to laugh because gamer man make a face.

That's the one thing I don't miss from the last decade: all the shitty PA knock-offs like Ctrl-Alt-Del, or really shitty ones like VG Cats. Every sprite comic can rot in Hell because none of them were good.

I remember a while back there used to be a knock-off of PA, but about movies. Pigbald got butt-hurt because the creators literally ripped off Pig's shitty style. The strip didn't last long because the creators got sick of making one terrible strip after another.

Pretty much, back when that idea popped out they were running on fumes, dumbfucks got swindled out of their money by some conartist and they were going to lose the rights to PA (again, dumbfucks, who signs the rights away to someone who doesn't even owns a media company?)
