Hey all, was looking for some sort of torrenting guide. I read the sticky, and still have some questions. Is some sort of proxy or VPN necessary to torrent? What's the best general website for torrents? What's the best client? I have µtorrent, only ever torrented some files to get a game working. No hate, everyone has to start somewhere, right?

Torrents with lots of seeders are usually more reliable. Plus, more seeders makes it faster. So always check the number of seeders

I had a problem with my old system.
I downloaded about 1 terrabyte of Data from baka.me and now i cant DL new stuff unless i seed the old ones. How can i reenter the Seeding?

>>448Just load the torrent file or magnet into the new client like you would do normally. Set download location to your existing folder. It will see the files and do a check. You'll see the % rising until it's done, then change to 'seeding'. One of the right-click options should be 'force recheck' as well. All folder structure of the original torrent must be the same or the new client won't see it.

Yes, use a proxy or vpn. I just started torrenting and I already got a warning from my ISP. I've seriously only donwloaded a few gigabytes of stuff and I didn't even do it all at once. Also, it was porn that they sent the warning for, does that mean I'm fucked? I've heard porn companies are extra horrible with lawsuits and stuff. I didn't see the warning myself, but I think it's just a warning for now. I live at home and my mom told me about it, but luckily she assumed "booty love" by mercedes carrera was music… They normally don't try threaten to sue on the first time they catch you, right?
