>leecher client
This is why I don't use public trackers. Fuck popcorntime.

You whine too much

But I'm not. Just telling how things are. Leecher clients are called leecher clients for a reason.

PT seeds the videos you watch while you're watching them and keeps seeding until you quit PT.

so is it a movie streamer or something

Except that it leeches from public swarms and doesn't contribute enough.
The Chinese have been doing this shit for a long time now.

It's a torrent client which works just like Netflix. It depends on APIs like yts.re and eztv.it to get content and just presents it in a slick UI. It's so simple your grandmother can use it.

>>65
And how do you propose we fix that? Should there be some kind of daemon process that keeps seeding after you close PT? Should that be an opt-in or opt-out feature?

If you'd like to change the behaviour of the torrent client itself, that's not possible in PT as it uses Peerflix which in turn uses torrent-stream. So you might want to complain there they already know if you're good at JavaScript or the bit torrent protocol, you can help

Here's the PT source: https://git.popcorntime.io/stash/projects/PT/repos/popcorn-app/browse

>Should there be some kind of daemon process that keeps seeding after you close PT?
That sounds good enough.

>Should that be an opt-in or opt-out feature?

The user should be aware of what's happening but it shouldn't be able to opt-out or be penalized by the client if he does, something like you can't download/watch more movies until you get a 0.5 total ratio in public swarms it should be easy enough to get that ratio.

If PT does that, everyone will move on to the next fork. It's been done already and can easily happen again. Congratulations, you solved nothing.

Welp. I guess it's only a matter of stop using public trackers to avoid the leechers infestation.

there's enough seedboxes on the net that the swarm will survive

 No.90

Yes, great idea! Lets abuse of the good will of the people who pay to upload your movies.

It is the goal of torrent-stream to be able to self-host a swarm, it's just not there yet. You can also just leave PT running in the background, it'll quietly keep torrenting whatever you watched that session. That's what I do, with a separate instance from a fresh copy of the source tree.
