If I hypothetically torrented older movies, do you think Hollywood would send me DMCA letters? I have a feeling they're mainly concerned with newer movies, but i'm not sure if they would send out notices for older movies too.

I don't have a proxy / VPN.

 No.514

Can never be too careful. How old we talking here?

 No.519

i use the same reasoning when i torrent movies. and did anyone ever recieve a complaint for porn? who the fuck buys porn?

 No.640

Who the fuck watches porn?
And who is afraid of DMCA letters? They go straight to into the trash, where they belong. The faggots can't afford to prosecute people, so they send magic letters to people in a futile attempt to hold on to their monopoly.

 No.648

Don't programs such as Peerblock avoid these letters?

 No.655

>>648
No, all it would do is block "known" IPs from connecting, but your IP would still be visible to anyone else in the swarm

 No.659

the only email from my ISP i have ever gotten about torrenting has been from torrenting porn. it was some big company video on a public tracker though, so i'm not too surprised.

 No.660

>>655
Technically if they don't connect to you, you have plausible deniability. Most (public) trackers deliberately inject falsified peer data into the swarm. Worst case, your client attempts to connect to someone who just refuses the connection.

That doesn't mean blocklists are at all effective though. Address space is cheap, and easy to acquire, especially with IPV6.

 No.776

>>659 Not quite a shock, but it turns out porn companies are even more litigious this way than the MPAA or RIAA ever were.

 No.781

You can use deluge blocklist addon and import the same list peerblock uses, and not have to run 2 progs

I have from my ISP years ago…it was a WB owned ISP in Georgia USA…
