To advocate it because it's father described it as "a mistake" is baffling and suggests that you have no idea what a truly abusive home looks like.
I, in fact, suspect that the OP is advocating it not out of interest in the child's welfare but in an attempt to punish an individual they dislike and if that is the case it is then a contemptible line of advocacy.
