What tea would you recommend to someone who has little to no experience drinking it?

Any /tea/ps?

You mean like bagged tea or loose tea? For loose tea, I recommend a good Assam you can get at your local grocer. If there's a place you know sells in bulk, get that. Assam has a taste similar to what you get in tea bags, so you'll have something familiar to start off with.

For bags, I don't know. I do know that you can improve the taste of bagged tea by brewing with water at 90-95C for 2-5 minutes and not torturing the bag to 'get all the flavor out' (I have seen people do this, and it's mortifying). Avoiding excessive heat, time, and pressure will minimize the bitter tannic flavor you get from a bad cup of tea.

If you want something unique and easy to drink, you should try honeybush.

There isn't any honey in it, but it tastes exactly like honey.

Personally, I'd recommend Genmaicha. It's a Japanese green tea with toasted puffed rice in it. It's usually pretty easy to find loose-leaf, and while it doesn't taste bad if you oversteep it, the flavor is sensitive to steep time and temperature, so it's a good tea to practice your brewing technique with.

Rose petal tea.

If herbal is allowed, I'd say hibiscus tea. My friends look at my loose-leaf tea brewing as a peasanty attempts at elitism, but even they can see why kids love cinnamon crunch got hooked once I gave it to them to try.

It has a rather strong flavor, though, so it's either love or hate. From my experience, girls like it more.
