Any kind of all-tips black ought to be pretty hardcore.

I'm partial to Jin Jun Mei myself.

Seconding. I just got a cake of pu-ehr and its the best thing ive ever had, especially after a fucking amazing dinner of rice and curry, in this particular case.

If I had to describe it, JJM is a heavy black tea that smells strongly of pastry. Sounds weird but it's pretty damn appetizing in person, especially before a meal or (god forbid) actual pastry. It's also fairly gummy-sweet even before any sugar goes in, so do not approach if you prefer your tea as bitter and astringent as your soul.

Close second is probably Ya Bao pu'er. The tea itself is pretty much colorless, but it has a strong and (IME) divisive tree sap aroma. The unbrewed leaves are especially pungent, almost medicinal-smelling. Also has the most natural sweetness of any tea I've tasted, bar none.

Third maybe Long Jing (aka Dragonwell). It's a classic green tea with little if any of the piscine aroma of the steamed Nip greens preferred by weeaboos and nerds. Faintly sweet if properly brewed, with an aroma of nuts and icing sugar. Also seems fairly tolerant of stupid temperatures/times, but try not to wreck it or a child in rural China will die

Anon you have to try this once. This is the only retailer I know of that carries this.

If I did not have any money I would drink Lipton in a second.

Every poor person I have ever known had cable TV. If you can afford cable, you can afford some decent tea.

Yep, people tend to overestimate the cost of "exotic" luxuries in comparison regular old everyday luxuries.

For example here in Australia 1.25l (5 cups) of coke cost about $3 or about $0.60 per serve, while even a relatively expensive tea like Pu'erh will set you back about $3-$12 per 25g (about 20 teaspoons), or around $0.15-$0.60 per serve.

Let's just ask for help and hope for the kindness only /tea/ could provide.

I have a hockey puck-ish brick of Tea at home, gifted by a friend a long time ago. Just a few months ago it's been identified by a Chinese as "la pu er" or "pu er" . Is it still ok to consume after around 2 years of storage? How should I prepare it ?

I should visit /tea/ more often.

Pu-erh is aged tea so storing it for a long time only makes it better. You can steep it just like any other tea though it's recommended that you do a quick rinse steep before you really start making it to drink.

 No.670

depends if it is raw or ripe pu-erh. raw benefits from aging, well, it's part of the process.

ripe is basically already aged through a process and does not benefit from extended storage, on a basic level.

drink it gong fu style. multiple small, short 10-15 seconds infusions.

6or7 infusions should be good.

People bash Lipton pretty hard here.

The beauty of tea is you can afford it no matter how poor you are.

I am a bit of a snob, but if I didn't have any $$$$ I would drink Lipton in a second.

 No.694

I bought the house blend green tea from a local specialty tea shop. It is, hands down, the most delicious beverage I have ever consumed.

You can get better for the price, I got some carrington peppermint tea from walmart for a dollar (20 teabags), and it was fucking good. Lipton just tastes like metallic water, and costs 4 times more than that mint tea I got.

>$3 for 1.25ltr

Dayumn, that shit's a dollar in the US. Tea can be cheap by the pound/ounce for the most part, but some teas, like matcha, remain exorbitantly priced.

I had a 40 cents off coupon so a box of 20 lipton tea bags cost me like $1.80 beat that.
