And a bunch of other websites
Or just buy some looseleaf of any kind at the store.
Single type is usually preferable, but not necessary. Nothing wrong with blended teas, but its best to be acquainted with their components.
You may see teas sold containing large quantities of herbs, dried fruit, or chocolate. A bag of these comes into the world whenever satan masturbates. If you see someone drinking them, they're probably a demon.

For brewing, just measure what looks like a teabag or two of tea then pour in a cup or so of water. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes. If y'wanna see if its done yet or not, just pour a small bit in a cup and see how it tastes. Probably wanna get a teapot if you dont have one. Doesnt have to be nice or anything, just something besides a mug to put the leaves in.

Find a local tea store like DavidsTea or Teavana if they are around.

Stay away from the mixed teas that have bits of chocolate and roses and other shit in them and find a good quality, plain loose leaf tea that you think you'll enjoy.

Also I would correct you, saying to steep for 3-5 minutes is very general and would likely make for very bitter teas.

If you have good quality loose leaf teas you often do not need to steep for more than 30 seconds to 1 minute at the most, for the first steep.

For example, I have many oolong and green teas such as Tie Guan Yin that I only need steep in my gaiwan for increments of 20 seconds, going up as I steep it multiple more times.

A teabag or TWO especially, all dumped into what I assume would be an average sized cup and let sit in hot water for 3-5 minutes would turn out horribly, in my experience.

Then again, it very much depends on the type and quality of the tea.

Tried that with my tie guan yin, too weak for my tastes. 3 or 4 minutes for it is only slightly, acceptably bitter, when ive done it.
I guess OP should just pour a small bit every now and then and see when he thinks its done.

Understandable with Tie Guan Yin. Try 3-5 minutes with a nice, hearty Oolong and you will get a cup of bitter shit.

DavidsTea and Teavana are not local, they're chains. They're overpriced teashops for weeaboos.

There is much better quality tea available online and probably close to you.

>good quality loose leaf

>DavidsTEA

I hope you don't seriously believe that, m80. Their good tea is overpriced and their shitty teas are full of additives and dumb ass things like popcorn or cookie dough.

There is literally NOTHING WRONG with buying regular bagged tea.

 No.537

>>526

That depends entirely upon what tea it is you chode. You can and should steep some stuff more than once, not so with other stuff. Not steeping some tea twice is literally nothing but a waste of good leaves thatd brew a cup just as good as the first.

 No.544

>>537

Not to mention the fact that some teas have been known to bring out completely different flavors after multiple brews, without the strength even weakening too much.

 No.648

PG Tips are pretty expensive for a grocery store black tea bag. Definitely not the cheapest.

I think it may be worth it, though. Not too many bags can fill my mug to the tip with full flavor like PG T

>Stay away from the mixed teas that have bits of chocolate and roses and other shit in them

I'll agree with you on the chocolate bits, but you sound like someone who's never experienced what a touch of rose or lavender can do to a good tea.

Teavana has exactly two demographics they market to though. Hipsters and upper-middleclass women 20-45 years old (mostly for their "weight loss teas"). They give you artificially flavored crap that you can find cheaper AND better elsewhere. And having known someone that used to work for them, I can confirm that their staff are trained primarily in the art of selling disgustingly overpriced accessories and teapots. They sweeten all their samples too. I tried a "green chai" from them and all I could taste was sugar and cinnamon.

They also do shady stuff like demand you buy a minimum number of ounces, even if that amount is higher than however much you bought there of the same tea last time. Teavana's a giant scam.

>>240

I can vouch for the quality of much of TeaSource's selection. Look em up if you get the chance.
