Do you think Facebook will ever die?

 No.539272

Lord, we can only hope.

 No.539279

no it wont unfortunatly

if there was ever any boycott for example

it would just be even more beneficial for the brands that stayed if 30% of their competition left

i am a consultant for small business owners. and i'm dedicating myself to educating them about how much of a waste of time and money(pay to play) social media is.

instead i tout the benefits of real human connections and actually doing "real company shit" for themselves rather than being a cattle in a cattle cart with all the other shit drowning their message out.

i'm enjoying it a lot so far and find they're usually pretty receptive.

It seems like a rule that any screenshot of any battery-powered device always has low battery life at the time of the screenshot. Always.

>Had to submit a screenshot of some thing for a babby-level programming class showing I installed a python IDE and did its tutorial

>Take the screenshot after an hour and change of work while on a degraded battery

>Less than 10% of battery life

Without fail, every time. I was pretty embarrassed after I'd realized it.

You can take screenshots of a computer too you doughnut.

The teacher wanted a screenshot showing the IDE's splash screen (to prove you installed it), and completing the built-in tutorial (to prove you did it.) I honestly don't know how else you'd prove that you did these two things, short of submitting the whole fucking project and having the slow, buggy fucking servers scan through every file to make sure they're kosher. Might as well just take a screenshot, grade it manually, and save yourself the trouble.

I have never used facebook and never will, After Myspace died i just stopped the whole social network thing.

I saw were facebook was going since day one when i got to the sign up page and it asked for my real name, I knew right then it was going to be used to catalog and build profiles on people that used it.

Not fast forward to 2016 and even employers are starting to ask for facebook info so they can browse through your years of post history and see if you have been a good goy or not.

It's nothing more that a big dick measuring contest anyway to see who is climbing the ladder the fastest, A reflection of how egoistic and shallow we are becoming as a civilization.

It has to die eventually from the heat death of the universe and all that, but I hope it does in my lifetime.

 No.540164

Facebook is pretty much established. The only way it can be replaced is if a major shift in technology occurs and Facebook doesn't catch up in time, like what it happened to Microsoft with mobile phones.

I have noticed a steep decline in daily usage by normies. I think they are currently keeping shit together thanks to adults (40+) who are discovering the website right now (not talking about anglo countries of course but rest of the world). Young generations have it, but use it less and less. They post less photos, less statuses. Mobile texts though internet make the chat part of facebook useless and it's way less comfy than the alternatives. The problem they are going to face imo is that it's becoming more and more a network, but less and less social, not in the theory but in the practice.

Both twitter and tumblr are struggling in their own way. We won't have to wait much until a new paradigm is created, one governed by different ideals and different goals. In this context new websites will emerge.

I admit I might be too optimistic, but I am not. I am damn right.

 No.543448

>>543425

okay, it took ~15 years for geocities to die (1994-2009)

facebook is currently ~12 years old (2004-2016)

so we have to wait at least 3 years

a lot can happen in 3 years, who knows
