What is your favorite terminal emulator and why?

My favorite is Terminology. It just has so much functionality in it from the beginning.

>recognizes URL's and file locations

>can change the background to any pic, gif, or video

>can watch videos, view pics, etc.

>has tabs and pane splitting

>keeps a huge log

>easily configurable

Any terminal where I can split pane and watch porn on one half (through terminology itself) and work in the other half is a-okay in my book.

how do you make the wallpaper didn't get split in into every single separate screens? I like my wallpaper merged into every split screen.

I'm not sure if you can. I've never really done that myself. Maybe someone else can help.

 No.539492

Wallpapers, tabs and pane splitting should be handled by your WM/multiplexor.

This is bloat.

Tmux, no questions

You just cited a bunch of reasons why not to use it: these are vulnerabilities: potential risks of unauthorized arbitrary executions

urxvt because it's nice enough

 No.539550

rxvt-unicode or nothing.

More important question, what about Wayland?

 No.539553

>>539550

wayland is for noobz who can't into mir

 No.539559

>>539471

That'd be hard to achieve. Try tmux.

Mir is for Canonical employees

Termite. Its small, lightweight, configurable. All you need when using a window manager. L

How retarded am I for using xterm?

Does what I want a terminal emulator to do.

>it doesn't support truecolor

>it probably doesn't even support emoji like urxvt doesn't

 No.539609

I'm using terminator, I like the splitting feature and the hotkeys but ~50mb for a terminal emulator is kinda bloated.

 No.539613

>>539581

And it's a good one at that.

LibVTE did nothing wrong outside of not being hipster enough. Termite is extremely lightweight, has saner defaults than urxvt (like font fallback) and supports true color (unlike terminologoy).

Terminator, because it doesn't give a shit about size hints and I use Window Maker.

 No.540019

>>539609

terminator is pretty good for what it is; if you like a full-featured terminal emulator, it's a good choice.

if you like a small one, urxvt.

 No.540065

I like bash.

It's simple, does everything I need, and comes with Ubuntu.

Why not just use the default terminal emulator that comes with your DE?

Unless of course you're going for a rice without a DE, in which case ROXterm is the obvious answer.

Best terminal for floating DE

>simple configs, no need to spend 2 weeks to rice

>renameable tabs

>simple shortcuts to switch between tabs

>small dependencies

>just werks

Only downside is you can't disable bold font.
