What would be some good software to synchronize music folders between computers?

I replaced the PSU on an OLD (2006) prebuilt that I wanted to fix for my parents, but now when I power it on the display remains blank as if there is no output coming from the PC. This is a step in the right direction as the PC wouldn't power on before, but the lack of output is new.

I made sure the wires from the PSU were secure in the mobo as well as from the monitor to the PC and the issue was still there.

I think it may be an issue with the motherboard because when I tried to hold the power button down to shut it off, there was no effect. I had to unplug it from the outlet to shut it down. However I'm no expert which is why I came here.

I also noticed some bulging capacitors, could that be the issue? I was planning on watching a YouTube video to see how to replace them as I know it's bad.

However my shitty lowish spec laptop has been rock solid.

Been using Cinnamon for quite a while now (Works very nicely, but I feel like there's a lack of settings compared to something like KDE or XFCE) and I'd like to see what else came out in the meantime.

I'm running Antergos (So basically Arch) and of course I can just install all these environments through pacman. I'm wondering though, does installing multiple DE's create any risk of them fucking eachother up and breaking all my settings for Cinnamon? Also, what would be an easy way of uninstalling everything that came with a specific DE again? I once had to spend quite a while manually uninstalling all the crap that came with KDE and really feel like there should be an easier way.

Install pavucontrol, if that does nothing, go to alsa-project.org, see if your soundcard is supported (it is) and follow the instructions.

Remember that 99% of all audio issues are linked to pulseaudio, so you might have to reconfigure pulse, (a pain in the ass), or remove pulseaudio and switch to alsa.

I'm following a roguelike development tutorial in Python, running Linux Mint. We're told to download a library, libtcod, and extract it somewhere, then place some specific files in the directory of our program.

I tried this earlier and the shell complained that it couldn't find libtcod (perhaps I had opened the window before I'd put it there), but now I have all the files I need, and when I run my program, the code executes without a problem, but a window should display and it doesn't.

I just installed Slackware64-current over my old Slackware install because shit was getting janky. 14.2 when? Everything works in -current except for Pale Moon, for which every single version I've downloaded segfaults upon run. Are you sure that your code and the tutorial's code coincide? Try just running their code. If it works, then something happened in your code and you should try diffing them. If not, maybe you need to reinstall shit.

I'm going through that tutorial too, and it's notoriously confusing when things go wrong. Make sure that you maintain the same order of things throughout it, if something goes awry again, diff not yelling at you about things being out of order makes it easier to troubleshoot.

Also, did you pull your .so files from /usr/lib{,64}, or did you download a tarball containing them? If it's the latter, try copying the files you need from the former.

And what preceded all these was irfan view taking fucking AGES to load up when I wanted to open an image or open IV to paste something in it.

Downloaded the file itself from someone's Github repository - it later occurred that it might be out of date by now.

there are 2 standards. the older one is PATA. if your comps have PATA drives, it probably will be more complicated (probably because I never researched this) because USB is a serial interface while PATA is parallel.

for work I have a list of the inventory in an excel file which is stored in my Dropbox folder so it can sync whether I am editing it on my laptop or the desktop. This morning. If you paid the ransom and it delivered, you'd want to copy all of the important files to another drive, then sort them by danger level and also scan them with multiple anti-malware software

Images are safe, PDF and office docs less so, archives possibly dangerous, .exe and http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/execfileext.htm are not safe so you would have to be very careful with those

I am interested in Mozilla's Shumway, and I've tried it out before and it's pretty impressive for what it is (just a nice small XPI addon). Is there a way to make Shumway run in it's own window using XULrunner or something?

There is ClamAV, an open source virus scanner. I will say that if I have never gotten a virus for Linux, just using your package manager and using trusted software should be pretty good.

There's also chkrootkit for checking rootkits and Lynis.

As for firewalls, you can look into ufw with gui-ufw for a simple but effective firewall.

Overall, just make sure you're not downloading shit like "hentai.sh" and running it under Root blindly. Hope this actually had useful information.

I have two HDDs, a Seagate (that came with this desktop) and a newer, a Samsung one. Both are 1 TB.

The Seagate one is years old now, I think maybe 6 or 7, and started to click last year... now, I've been away for awhile, but when I returned I had to face the problem.

Can I "transfer" the OS from one to another without formatting the one that will "receive"? The old, clicking one (that has the OS) is partitioned in two (three, for some reason, as Windows made me do a partition with 100MB), C:/ (which has only vital programs, ~250GB) and D:/ (private stuff ~700 GB).

The other, newer, is not partitioned, and I've been installing games, music and such. Can I "move in" the OS and everything else (the Samsung has plenty space, ~400 GB left, and the first one is using ~300 gb only in total)?

I've read some articles about SSDs and such, but nothing on used HDD to another.

Yep. So long as you're using the same exact hardware as the previous install the computer won't recognize the difference.

You could disassemble it (or look at teardown guides) and see if the DC in jack is part of the mainboard or not. Sometimes the jack is its own little component that plugs into the mainboard via a connector - replacing these are typically pretty simple after finding someone who sells the part.

Wireshark. It will show all packets and all activity by default, use the "Expression" option to write an expression. eg: "<insert ip here> && <insert protocol here>" (or just click the button and it will do it for you.) selecting a request/response from the list of captured packets will show more information about it, you can see the used ports by both the sender and receiver there.
