I took /tech/'s advice and disabled javascript. My browsing experience has greatly improved except on 8chan. How do you guys keep up with threads? It isn't that hard to do on smaller threads but on large ones it's nearly impossible.

You don't have to read every bit of javascript man. Just have some common sense. 8ch is obviously "trusted", so you're fine. Generally, if the site has any social media links you keep it disabled. Likewise for porn or anything with a large number of ads. For relatively clean sites of trusted sources, you enable. I don't even know javascript and I don't get viruses or run into issues using those rules.

Javascript is usually a crutch, but can be useful on sites you frequent (like 8chan). If it really bothers you, just make sure the javascript is free.

If a site absolutely cannot function without javascript, then someone has fucked up. Free or no.
