>be at the office

>officemate normies talking about technology

>"iphone is the best because you can trust apple. they care about your privacy that's why they are fighting the FBI in that terrorist case"

>"yeah i bet they would win the nobel prize next year for their stance about protecting user data"

>mfw

So somehow, Apple has become the defender of freedom.

You should know they'll believe anything. Have you tried telling them the whole thing was a PR move and apple has been giving FBI access to phones in similar situations plenty of times for years?

Apple is part of this weird circle. Google, Apple, Facebook all pretend that they care about your privacy, going so far as to support two-factor authentication, dongles and whatnot but they still use your data and sell it. Maybe it's a normie trap, maybe it's just an expression of the cognitive dissonance that rules over every aspect in modern society.

No, you're the faggot.

Yes, it's all about layers, or rungs of a ladder.

We're on the bottom rung, and the "circle" doesn't want other people on the bottom rung looking at your data - this is bottom rung privacy.

But as you pass the rungs, suddenly you see that the circle will willingly share information with other folks.

So say the ladder/layer/Pyramid wants to share with X-corp - they will, without hesitation. But to protect the proles from other proles, they'll put in two factor auth. But that only stops direct access from phones, an illusion of privacy when thats just an interface to another server.

>>544386

I'm not saying they're being altruistic. Everyone knows they're playing up the PR to sell hardware and make money. But it is raising awareness. Compare it with the ethical quagmire surrounding Snowden that muddied the privacy issues that should have made the masses create an uproar.

If it takes a company making shiny phones to make normalfags question who has their data, so be it. At least make them question it.

Apple is somewhat different though since advertising is not their core business. They also make all their cloud stuff opt-in. If only you could use iOS without an apple ID though...

 No.544421

>>544412

Yeah, basically this. I've gotten into pretty heated arguments with people who just don't care about mass surveillance, and I know they're not boring people with nothing to hide. I'll take an empty PR letter any day if it makes the average Joe mad that the FBI can rifle through everything they do online.

You had to know that blue pilled wageslaves would interpret these events this way. Totally predictable.

> Apple pretends to protect user data in highly media covered controversy.

> Already member of Prism for years.

> See, we ”think different”.

 No.544548

I've been impressing upon my coworkers that despite Google's bullshit, Android phones are better than iPhones, if only because you don't have to rely on APPLE to add new functionality or fix errors and exploits. In theory, anybody can.

Of course, having them believe me is easy, because we work for a cell phone company, and have to deal with every double-digit ID'd retard who can't find the home button.

 No.544555

>>544373

it's not really that complicated

they want to protect your privacy the same reason there's a fence around cows. They see you as their property

they are a hardware company m8, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

they could have sold OS X to the public for all Intel machines as of 2007-2008 but ofc the iphone was launched instead and then POZ Jobs died.

He had expressed the hope he could open OS X to the OEM market in 2006 but wanted to see the transition to the Intel chips go smoothly first. ofc that was probably just b8.

the CEO of Dell machines was also willing to co-op with Apple for an up-to-spec hardware line at the time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psystar_Corporation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSx86

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple%E2%80%93Intel_architecture#Digital_Rights_Management

as you can clearly see apple corp could easily develop for the OEM market but refuses to because of the design principle of wanting a 'full user experience', the box included ofc.

the iphone currently makes up 60+% of the apple profits, if this case with the FBI goes south it could sway public opinion and that percent could drop quickly.

OS X is shit, microshaft is shit, ubuttjoo is bloatware

Why would you even care? I'd amplify with some ridiculously retarded shit and see how much of it I could get them to agree with.

"Yeah I heard apple has the best encryption in the world because they have the best scientists and mathematicians working on it. I wouldn't be surprised is apple products become illegal within a couple years. Better stock up guys"
