My old Moto X from 2013 has this feature. It uses a dedicated mini-processor for audio analysis to save battery.

All phones can be haxxed to to this though.

Fucking hell. An iPhone 6s Plus costs near a thousand fucking dollars. Do you know what you could buy for a school with that kind of money, with no discounts?

Two complete Windows 7 Pro desktops and an equivalent laptop, and that's just from TX Micro, not a wholesaler. I'm sure with initiative, many here could get more.

I do not doubt they could probably enable it through some backdoor if they wanted to but that could be said about pretty much any other phone.

Not like I talk to anyone irl so it would only pick up typing sounds anyway

Say what you will, but I had an HTC M8 that didn't have this feature. I would talk to other people about something with my phone out "not listening". Then I'd google it. I'd type "the" or some innocuous word and it'd autocomplete to whatever we were just talking about. My iPhone does not do this. My iPhone also gets MUCH better battery life when it's not running apps, it has fewer background services. One of the biggest battery-draining apps on both platforms is Facebook, why, because it listens in the background. I firmly believe that Google Play Services is worse than anything Apple puts out.

Because overstock business liquidation computers are the same as buying a high-end phone from a store that you can find in a mall. You could find an equivalent number of Mac minis for the same price in the same condition. And even more iPads, which is all most (non-programming) schoolkids need. Non-chinese phones in general are horrendously overpriced, Samsung is no better.
