I have a Samsung np300e5a and its monitor is broken. So I wanted to use an ext. monitor as a display but once I power it on, the monitor starts displaying only after the boot process.

If, for example, I want to access the BIOS, how can I?

The same goes for USB keyboard and mouse. They get recognized only after the boot. I suppose that's because there's a fast-boot option enabled which doesn't load all the drivers on boot. I tried to locate the lid sensor, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone spot it?

install a good operating system like Windows 7. linux is shit programmed by amateur basement dwelling losers and has notoriously bad compatibility with laptops/notebooks.

Will it seriously make a difference?

After having installed Windows, what should I do?

Such are the trevails with sem-unique problems.

The laptop doesn't let you manually switch the display to external with a key combination? I haven't had a laptop in ten years, so I don't know how they handle this now.

It does, but only after the BOOT process, thus making it ineffective to access the BIOS.

That's because there's some kinda "fast boot" option enabled in the BIOS, but I'm still unable to access it. Or, better: I can access it by hitting the keys at startup but can't see it on the ext. monitor.

There's no way? Nobody can help?

Well, the only solution then, is to repair or replace the display. Alternately, put the laptop on a shelf somewhere and never think about it again. Without visual output, or another identical system to provide you with a map for blind keypresses, not much else to do.

I mean, shit, a refurbished Core2 laptop is like two days' pay at a call center.

The external output is not initialized until the OS driver loads. Whether it can be used during boot process depends on multiple factors. Get a compatible flat panel and plug it into your motherboard (the connector types are pretty universal) to use BIOS setup or buy it an fix your screen for good.

If there's a way to do it, it's probably in the bios. Which is unfortunate for someone in your situation.

have you tried pulling out the monitor ribbon and booting?

Butthurt windows fag detected. Ignore them, they are literally the low level scum of tech now.

 No.545390

unplug the laptop display.

even if the monitor is broken (it's usually just the transformer) the electronics that run it are probably there, and probably calling the bios during post and saying "gimme all the motherfucking screen data".

usually without a screen most laptops default to external w/e but some of the really old ones need vga.

bingo

I've pulled laptop mobos before, last week I tore down a dv6. I want to recase it and solder in a 4way ps2 controller adapter to make a retroarch console. the biggest problem is wifi. waiting on parts from taiwan and the US.
