Welcome to /techloligy/

Feel free to join us on IRC @ irc.rizon.net #techloligy

Board discussion thread
In creating this board, our aim was to try to rekindle the 'old /g/' for which we still have a lot of nostalgia.

More specifically, we aim to create a board where ironic anime funposting isn't immediately met with a chorus of autistic crybabies and unironic consumerist shitposting is rightfully looked down upon.

However, ultimately it's you the users, not us, who can make this board a success. So we would ask you:

What would you like this board to become? What kinds of policies or rules do you think would help to develop it into the type of community you'd like to see?

Guts and battle station threads are just /v/ winfags jerking each other off over their gaymer gear.
It's not like there's enough content here to prune stuff anyway.

How do you protect your internet security and privacy?

 No.125

That's really vague, but I block ads and malware with a few host lists using my router, as well as using noscript and request policy.

Security depends on the threat in question. I'm not really proactive in that department, and I subscribe to the "common sense" model.

I set browser plugins as click to play, uninstalled flash that's needed as a separate install for firefox or other browsers since it's not as necessary now days. I use ublock origin and don't click sketchy links. I use privateinternetaccess as a vpn.

I'm too lazy to do much more than that.

Password management thread.

Are there any better solutions than pic related?

It's nice to know you'll never have to actually remember a password, but it's pretty annoying typing 20+ random character passwords manually whenever you're using a different computer.

>not knowing the exe is portable
>not storing the database on a thumb drive or your phone

You're making loli cry anon.

>Carrying a USB drive around with you at all times
>keeping its files updated
>plugging it into other people's computers
>the only thing you get in return is the convenience of copypasting instead of writing manually
Hardly a valid solution. It would only be worth it if you had a portable browser install with a keepass plugin on the drive as well as your passwords so you could avoid using the clipboard altogether and have everything be automatic. But this is going full sperglord.

Just don't be such a lazy fuck. It's just one of those things.

 No.82

I'm using KeePass, works via Mono on every Desktop I encountered yet and I also have it on my phone for emergency cases. Just don't make your passwords too crazy if you want to be able to input them in a reasonable amount of time. Also carrying a USB drive around with you at all times is pretty legit, get one that looks like a key and put it on your key ring for example, that's what I did. Also if you use KeePass go into Database Settings and set the iterations of the key strengthening algorithm to something more secure.

KeePass + KeeFox browser addon. I'm not too convinced of its security but so far no one have stolen my accounts. I also have backup printed with PaperBak http://ollydbg.de/Paperbak/

How do you friends feel about CrunchBang going under?

I started using CrunchBang #! GNU/Linux on September 12, 2013.
I'm angry that the clean, fast, beautiful, easy to dualboot distro that gave me my love for GNU/Linux is kill.
I feel like I wouldn't be where I am now if I had started with the failed abortions that are modern desktop environments.

 No.122

Sorry for your loss anon, it sucks when stuff you genuinely enjoy dies off.

What are the reasons for it going under? I live under a rock and also never used CrunchBang.
