I can give you a hand. I have plenty of mods and found several really good guides. One of them was especially good but in Spanish, but I can translate it.

It's a long one, though.

Consider than the entire TES universe is imaginary; literally, figuratively, and in every other sense. Everything behaves the way it does because powerful entities desire it, and in a dream world thought is a tangible force.

But most focus on either making the game frustratingly hard or boringly easy.

Gentlemen, how do we make sure the next Elder Scrolls game isn't a super-casual gimicky minecraf ripoff it's likely going to be? We need to find a way to reach out to bethesda and make sure they don't fuck up the next one in the series, Skyrim wasn't BAD, but it was not good either, it was a very mediocre game (although still adictive) that lost way too much TES flavor.

First and foremost I believe that our that Bethesda should focus primarily on making the next TES game a true RPG. That is that they should be more concerned about providing a solid roleplay experience from the narrative and gameplay aspects, rather than trying to cover too much ground to catch wider audiences.

ç

the Brand is well known and people are awaiting the next game in the series, de-casualizing it now could not possibly turn the audience caught by Skyrim's success; people play these games to be immersed into a fantasy RPG with a solid identity, sure they want to build houses and customize their armors and play dress up, but having captivating stories being told all around the player, and seeing the consequences of your actions it what truly makes the game to be open-ended, and it's the very reason people are invested into the franchise.

TES is an RPG series with direct player action, and as such it should take pride on leading the industry in that regard, otherwise, it suffers an identity crisis.

Dragonborn and Dawnguard were quite good, as was Shivering Isles. Bethesda still have talent, they just don't always apply it

TES's real issue is lack of a good combat system. They could learn a thing or two from Durk Sills.

Combat was dramatically improved from Oblivion, and there's only so many ways you can swing a godamn sword.

And yet you fools prefer Morrowind, a game with the absolute worst combat ever.

>>10804

>cool quests

It was an extension of the daedric theme already set forth in Skyrim

>cool location

Besides the tiny Dunmer port and the Red mountain way in the distance, the island was very Skyrim in character

You idiots are blinded by nostalgia so severely that Bethesda dropping just a morsel of Morrowind into a dlc makes it better than everything else, even had the same music from Morrowind, as if they were trolling you retards. Get the fuck over Morrrowind already.

>>10803

It was only "rushed" if you rushed it, just like in every other ES. It's your fault. The lore is there in the books, just like with Morrowind, except it's not spoon fed to you because we now have voice acting instead text, so you actually have to give a shit about what youre doing.

tbh I was the kind of person who would get called out as 'casual skyrim bby' and I played dragonborn before morrowind. I was intrigued by the mushroom towers, netches, redoran guards and shit and got morrowind after

>extension of the daedric theme already set forth in skyrim

Daedric theme, set forth in skyrim? What the fuck? Skyrim had daedric quests like any other elder scrolls, and Oblivion had more focus on, well, daedra and oblivion. Shivering isles was a different thing than the parts of apocrypha you see in dragonborn. I still like it a lot, despite the parts that are supposedly skyrim.

I've never bothered to check out what the huscarl for each respective hold looks like, but on my newest Skyrim character I've received a letter from the Jarl of Falkreath offering me the position of thane. Being the Hlaalu that I am, I thought it was a good opportunity for a free follower instead of shelling out for a mercenary or bringing the wrath of dragons upon my character in exchange for Lydia. I looked up who the huscarl for Falkreath was, and well…

It's a she-boon that dual-wields scimitars. As the huscarl of Falkreath, Skyrim's graveyard. What the fuck? Why? It makes no sense. Hopefully all the others aren't as shit.

My main issue is that followers don't really mesh with frostfall or realistic needs. They don't eat, sleep, pitch tents, cook etc. When my character needs to camp to survive, and my follower just stands around all night, that breaks immersion

Also, even with horsemen installed, I still can't get my followers to fight on horseback.

developers far more competent than Bethesda can't do followers right. only time they are not shit is when you have absolute control over them. like those old isometric rpgs. but I digress; those sound like issues the creators of those mods should address.

Hi, I've been working on and off on this and I am just looking for advice on my race replacment mod, right now I'm doing my preliminary sculpt for my Orc replacer, here is his head, the body is just the human one which is largely done but a few important things remain like animations before it would be ready to add to Morrowind, also it's built for Open MW exclusively since I want to take this all the way and I need features that don't exist in Morrowind to do this. Open MW doesn't support even the basics I need to get this to work within the engine, I'm not using .nif.

I aimed to get my orc face somewhere between Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, my meshes will be higher poly than Skyrim and closer to Oblivion, they are anatomically correct to my own skills which are quite limited.

Humans, Argonians and Khajiit are varying amounts of complete.

The ears are still early.

Mostly what I want is some criticism of my Orc, I'm not worried about making it 100% lore consistent, but I want it to feel like it belongs within The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind.

Also here's my Argonian with the Oblivion Argonian head for comparison.

I've already made mental notes about the eye shape and the mouth, I know they are wrong but I just haven't bothered changing them, what I mostly did wrong was the brows though, they are all kinds of unintentionally hideous.

I had a go at the Mer male base in between being demotivated by my Orc female, I'm aiming for yet again a mixture of all the different TES titles, I'm not particularly fond of the Skyrim Dunmer since their features are way too strong and their jaws are a tad too wide, personally other than the ears I like this mer.

True, I guess falmer are more like Tolkien's orcs. I'm not saying tes orcs should be mindless beasts, just that they should be frightening enough to scare away other races. Skyrim orcs are hardly uglier than the other mer. They basically look like grey humans with tusks.

>You know what I'd like? If at high levels you'd get more enemies thrown at you

Bioware used to do that in their rpg games and the fights would get tedious really quickly even with massive screen clearing D&D spells available. Maybe if it was just for random npc clusters, while quest spawns stayed static.

 No.10713

>>10712

>massive screen clearing D&D spells

man we need those in TES. best part of being a high-level mage is spells that let's you just instantly massacre all the scrubs. like you can just picture your character going "Man get this weak shit out of here." while doing a backhand motion and just wiping out everything in front of him. makes you feel like a boss.

That was one thing Dragon Dogma did well, (although their mages needed way more utility spells) they weren't afraid to let magic spells just completely wreck a battle field and send enemies flying everywhere. Even the fire wall spell could fuck up a cluster of people with the right augments. And high end sorcerer stuff could basically end even boss fights assuming you managed to get one off.

Meanwhile Skyrim and Oblivion both refused to let a damage spell actually ragdoll or knock down a living npc, and instead added a stagger effect that managed to be both lame and overpowered at the same time.

 No.10719

>>10718

Dragon's Dogma sorcerers were really an example of good concept but flawed execution. For a class that's so squishy and vulnerable, they are in sore need of some "don't fucking touch me" spells, like teleportation, mirror images, barriers, whatever. It's the only vocation I did not have a good time at all trying to solo, I got tired of being smacked around by everything while i try to fire off a spell.

 No.10779

It would be pretty nice if the guilds actually behaved like fucking guilds instead of faggy after-school clubs. Like, if you take a few random sidequests to murk bandits or whatever in a particular town, the local Fighters Guild should get on your ass in some way for stealing their business. If you go around robbing houses in a town, the local Thieves Guild chapter should try to coerce you into joining them or try to steal the shit you stole for themselves, or something. If you're going to put "guild" in the name, make it something more than a lame questline.

We're all men here, let's just get that out of the way.

When you RP a female character, do you do anything differently. Bethesda games seem to not like making the world treat you any different just because you've a vagina, and the side effect of that is that you have to imagine yourself anything that would be a "female issue" in the world. Because they are there. In the books. Just like the good, fleshed out characters.

What do you do differently, if anything? How is it different for you to RP as a female character, especially if its a non-human one?

I mostly play female characters after completing my first playthrough. I didn't used to when I was younger, because I thought it was weird. But as I've gotten older, I've found it easier to roleplay as a female.

To elaborate: When I play a male character, I almost always inevitably slip back into behaving how I would behave myself, or worse, just playing as if it was a game. When I play a female character, on the other hand, the character menu, dialogue, and so on are all enough to leave a constant reminder of the divide between player and character, making it easier to play whatever role is present.

That being said, I usually play stealth or magic based characters as a girl, with the claymore coming out later in the game at high levels.

Well, never joining the Volkihars again. At least with the Civil War, I was able to entertain the ideas of both sides when I played through them on different playthroughs, but here there's no grey area. Guess I should've seen that coming since they're vampires and all.

I was hoping that maybe they would be decent people and the Dawnguard might be a little intolerant towards them, but no, they're scum and the Dawnguard rightfully wants them exterminated.

Sure, the Volkihars make you lord of the castle, but honestly, not being the leader of the Dawnguard after their questline was a nice break from being the leader of every guild and the Thane of every hold. It's the reason why shit like the Archmage Tolfdir mod exists and is so damn popular.

Maybe I'm a minority in this, but the idea of being a vampire hunter always appealed to me more than being a vampire, reason I love shit like Castlevania, Blade, Boktai(Kudos to anyone who played it), and the Witcher(Monster slayer in general, but vampires are included).

>Volkihar Castle is hidden inside a glacier, and through a grotto, sort of like how the Sky Haven temple is. It's also surrounded by shipwrecks with the skeletons of ships hulls poking out of the water, maybe some whale bones here and there too.

>Volkihar Vampires can summon Barnacle-crusted, seaweed-draped, scurvy-having Pirate skeletons with actual cutlasses.

>Blood Magick in Vampire Lord form isn't a glowing red orb like an illusion spell. it's an actual orb textured like blood and can do shit like make people's heads explode and whatnot.

>Serana isn't the chick from Underworld, instead she's a demure lady-in-the-wateresque character who is encased in a magical block of ice and not a stone coffin, She has long wavy hair the color of dark seaweed.

>Instead of being a spoiled brat, she acts like a proper modest lady with a killer streak.

I'm pretty easily satisfied. Like, if you give me a winged bat-monster to play with, I expect to be able to fly. That's not an unreasonable request, right? Just that tidbit of common sense would have made vampires worth it.

So if you didn't know, apparently after House Hlaalu got permabanned, another house took its place; House Sadras.

Literally the only lore about them is a couple lines of dialouge from Dragonborn. They have no identity beyond that.

If you were a writer for Bethesda, who would you make the Sadras be? What are their customs? How do they fit in with the Argonian Invasion? What do they believe?

I'm curious to see what you guys can come up with.

Nice stuff m8, now I'm curious about how would a Sadras mod based on that would work

Glad you like it.

They way I envisioned it, House Sadras would currently be a patriarchal family in the vein of the Corleone family. Their modus operandi around Morrowind would be sweetly reminiscent of Mafia families but with a strong presence of honor in their acts. They have no problem bullying people into compliance but they prefer to use actual violence as a last resort, specially to preserve their public image.

They'd be strong supporters of the Reclamations and their main figures would be strong supporters and financiers of the New Temple. although devout to the religious ritual, they are a bit dismissive of the faith itself, being more pragmatic towards religion as a whole than dogmatic as the Indoril would be.

On a military level, they're mostly dependent of the Redoran and support Redoran troops as morrowind's standing armies. However their support would amount to buying out the loyalty of Redoran soldiers and officers.

Their own army is rather small, and they cultivate Telvanni traditions through the use of a specialized force of battlemages focused on Illusion and conjuration. These elite guards are garrisoned at Narsis but can be found patrolling the bordering regions with cyrodiil and Argonia. Since 4E they carry black soulgems which they often fill with the souls of outlaws, escaped slaves and others.

Maybe they sell some of these filled soul gems to their Telvanni allies, or maybe they're working on a new type of ghostfence, who knows?

Seeing as they replaced Hlaalu, I would say that they were an old merchant clan that kept a more traditional style of localized trade and caravaning and therefore managed to survive and grow more influential after the Empire abandoned Morrowind. This, coupled with charity relief efforts and vehement support of the New Temple by House members, made Sadras the perfect choice to succeed the failed Hlaalu. Also that they are more than likely a toadie of House Redoran.

As of the events of Dragonborn, the House spends much of its efforts prospecting, salvaging, overseeing outlying economic settlements, and aiding the distribution of trade in Morrowind. They often trade with Ashlander clans and hire them to protect caravans heading through the wastes. Due to their hand on commerce, they also have a large role in Morrowind's tenuous foreign relations.

Good thread right here.

Another interesting theory I heard is that Sadras was a minor house within Redoran and after the Red Year they replaced Hlaalu as a puppet house of Redoran.

By the way, what are the houses/guilds in the lowest row? I recognize all above as Indoril, Dagoth, Redoran, Telvanni, Hlaalu and Dres but those below don't ring a bell.

>Skyrim is in a civil war, the Imperial legion and the Empire have ruled the land for centuries, but now Ulfric Stormcloak and his uprising have risen up against the empire over the outlawing of Talos worship after the Empire's defeat at the hands of the Aldmeri Dominion.

>This game takes place directly after the Dragonborn has defeated Alduin and saved Tamriel from certain destruction. You can play as any character in the game, create your own custom adventurer, or even play as the leader of any non-draugr dungeon (such as bandits or hagravens). Anything from a Jarl trying to gain power in the civil war or a daedric prince trying to curry influence are playable (With many Jarls and Daedra still available).

>The game is based on 4 stats, Warrior, mage, speech and crime.

>These stats are used for almost all actions.

>The basic currency is the septim, which is used to hire soldiers, improve gear, buy potions or businesses.
