Hey guys. Since the board has been dead lately I decided to get off my ass and make a post for you n'wahs.

Since their is little lore about Akavir, I came up with a little hypothetical. Say you're a writer for Bethesda in charge of writing lore about Akavir. What would you do with it?

Are the Tsaesci a serpentine, beastial race or a breed of men? How do the (at least) four races interact with one another? Are their more races here? How do they view the Aedra and Daedra, if at all? How do they perceive the Tamrielic peoples? How are their cultures in general? How does the Nerevarine fit into all of this?

I'm curious to see your guys' thoughts.

They're obviously supposed to be lamias.

To be fair with you they actually sound like that except they look like those snake ladies from XCOM with brigther golden scales and Massive vampire-fangs capable of unhinging their jaws and swallowing people whole.

Also, they look like AYY's.

They are snake people who take the form of men when they eat enough of them.

 No.10448

I'm probably one of two people who don't want anything about Akavir. It sounds strange and exotic, but no. Don't ever go there. I have no need for it. There's enough well grounded in lore fantastic things to do on Tamriel. Going outwards would just expand lore and not add meaningfully unless Kirkbride was deeply involved in creation of Akavir continent, which he won't be.

So, if doing Akavir, give it to Kirkbride and Kuhlman, then let Todd filter it.

If they took us to Akavir it'd have to be dumbed down and made into generic human fantasy place. So Snake people would be gone completely, and you'd just get like a new race that's Asian themed with some scales on their neck or something.

>and you'd just get like a new race that's Asian themed with some scales on their neck

you might be exaggerating just a tad. I mean dragons in Skyrim aren't just Argonians with wings or something. i was actually shocked by how well-designed and animated they were. and skyrim itself looked pretty much how you'd imagine Skyrim to look.

so I think they'd nail the environment, and the snake men would look good. where bethesda would fail (as they always do) is characterization. the Tsaesci would feel tacked-on, gimmicky and one-dimensional like the dragons were.

If I were a writer for Bethesda in charge of writing I'd probably shit all over my desk and call it a rough draft.

>"Versidue-Shaie so loved his snake n'wahs that Akavir is now a European forest with guns that shoot words of power and all of the tiger-dragons etc. went extinct or some shit so we can save money on models."

I'd actually rather not do snake people. There's already enough beast races, and why would imperials bread with snake people? Cannibal snake people, mind you. Asian humans would be the best approach

Also, Akavir is best left as lore only. We need to leave some things up to the players imagination

I honestly think lamias would be a better pick. Granted lamias are in daggerfall but the problem with that is they're actually half woman half eel and live exclusively in the water. A tsaesci is a different animal entirely.

you can do a lot with them and it's a hell of a lot more interesting than asians that eat cyrodiil piggus like hotdog.

 No.10469

I think that black marsh, elsweyr, summerset isles or valenwood are exotic enough as locations, as long as Bethesda doesn't give them the Cyrodiil jungle treatment.

I'd rather have Atmora anyway :^)

In regards to the tsaesci and what they would look like, there was some speculation as to what precisely was meant by the passage wherein it was stated that the snake people ate the humans of akavir. The best conclusion which most people seemed to think was reasonable was that the eating referred to a complete conquest and subjugation of the men of akavir. So that in essence, their culture became wholly absorbed by the vampire snakes proper, who for the sake of convenience we'll just call lamias. This would neatly account for both the descriptions of vampire lamias, the potentate, and the interbreeding of cyrods and akaviri, blades, sancre tor, etc.

In terms of eating, devouring the culture of an entire race and making them a subset of your own is a decent description.

But dragons are just that in Skyrim.

08/15 fantasy dragons.

Nah, their serpentine aspects are like the rat-aspect of Hlaalus.
