We're all men here, let's just get that out of the way.

When you RP a female character, do you do anything differently. Bethesda games seem to not like making the world treat you any different just because you've a vagina, and the side effect of that is that you have to imagine yourself anything that would be a "female issue" in the world. Because they are there. In the books. Just like the good, fleshed out characters.

What do you do differently, if anything? How is it different for you to RP as a female character, especially if its a non-human one?

Melee combat in RPGs is a big gender consideration for me. Female fighters are fine as long as a game let's me use magic (or technology as the setting allows) as an excuse. In Oblivion, the school of Restoration had physical buff spells so I made a female magic-knight. In Skyrim I made a very potion-centered shield-maiden. There was an RPG where I played a female cyborg fighter, so that works too. As long as a game gives me those options I'm good, otherwise I will default to a mage or something.

>Implying I would ever play a female character in TES

That's really cool, I never even thought about this to be honest. Basically, your understanding is that it makes no sense for a female character to be able to perform the same physical feats that a male character can perform without some kind of magic/tech/potion assistance to make up for her physiology.

Would this extend to orcs or nords too? I never have done this consciously but in retrospect, all my female two-handed/otherwise fighter types have been Orcs or Nords; races renowned for their incredible strength and sub-par intelligence.

Why even comment? Why even sage? Autist.

When I play as a grill I tend to go for non-violent or otherwise more subtle playstyles. For instance on Skyrim I once played a Bosmer maiden, put any and all perks into Illusion, Speech and Alchemy, and for dragons and Dwemeri automatons she'd have to turn into a werewolf (which I unfortunately had to speed through the Companions questline to acquire) made for an interesting playthrough.

In over 600 hours of Skyrim I've only played like 2 as a female character. I have nothing against female characters it's just that the immersion becomes very difficult for me.

I mostly play female characters after completing my first playthrough. I didn't used to when I was younger, because I thought it was weird. But as I've gotten older, I've found it easier to roleplay as a female.

To elaborate: When I play a male character, I almost always inevitably slip back into behaving how I would behave myself, or worse, just playing as if it was a game. When I play a female character, on the other hand, the character menu, dialogue, and so on are all enough to leave a constant reminder of the divide between player and character, making it easier to play whatever role is present.

That being said, I usually play stealth or magic based characters as a girl, with the claymore coming out later in the game at high levels.

Constantly keep an eye out for creepy men. I really wish their was a realistic sexism mod that makes you fend of amorous men, and would bar you from certain professions but open up others. IMO skyrim's "politically correct utopia" is less immersive than Mount and Blades gritty sexism.

Hell, I grew up playing metroid as samus, so it doesn't strike me as weird.

wow I sound like gamerghazi in this post

>Mount and Blade

>Gritty sexism

>Start with a battle's worth of renown less than a man

>Require 2 battles worth of renown to become noble lady

>Lose like -3 affection with lords for being a chick

>Still end up sole ruler of the entire land

>Have 1 less str at char creation, but have 1 more int, the most important party leading stat

>Men get Cha for some reason, and it's shit because of how OP renown is

>Also gain the unique ability to marry a male lord and have two armies

Please let the 'Mount and Blade isn't a Thalmor power-trip' meme die.

Most Thalmors don't even know what M&B even is because they only play fetcher art games. If Bethesda put a sex differential in TESVI, Thalmors would chimp out hard.
