Gentlemen, how do we make sure the next Elder Scrolls game isn't a super-casual gimicky minecraf ripoff it's likely going to be? We need to find a way to reach out to bethesda and make sure they don't fuck up the next one in the series, Skyrim wasn't BAD, but it was not good either, it was a very mediocre game (although still adictive) that lost way too much TES flavor.

First and foremost I believe that our that Bethesda should focus primarily on making the next TES game a true RPG. That is that they should be more concerned about providing a solid roleplay experience from the narrative and gameplay aspects, rather than trying to cover too much ground to catch wider audiences.

ç

the Brand is well known and people are awaiting the next game in the series, de-casualizing it now could not possibly turn the audience caught by Skyrim's success; people play these games to be immersed into a fantasy RPG with a solid identity, sure they want to build houses and customize their armors and play dress up, but having captivating stories being told all around the player, and seeing the consequences of your actions it what truly makes the game to be open-ended, and it's the very reason people are invested into the franchise.

TES is an RPG series with direct player action, and as such it should take pride on leading the industry in that regard, otherwise, it suffers an identity crisis.

You know what I want? TES VI in mainland morrowind+port telvannis. It'd have to be set a good period of time after Skyrim though so the province can have properly recovered from all the shit it's been through. Ash from red mountain has made the lands green and fertile, territory lost to the argonian invasions has been recaptured, mournhold has been rebuilt. The 5 great houses (with Sadras replacing Hlaalu) are all great. Redoran are my favourite but I don't want them dominating the other houses like they are said to be in the Dragonborn DLC.

I know a lot of people want multiple provinces (which means they WILL be scaled down with fewer locations) or Elsweyr/Black Marsh/Valenwood/Alinor because it's exotic, but I feel that Bethesda can retcon a lot of their lore (cause we haven't seen them ingame yet besides ESO, which can be disregarded completely).

I'm also a fan of Hammerfell like many others, but it might turn out very generic. If we get Hammerfell I want Stros M'Kai in it.

Skyrim's mediocrity earned them unprecedented sales and popularity, so why would they change up the formula? You might not wanna believe this, but you aren't their target audience anymore. Their new audience doesn't want "a true RPG", they want memes, minecrafty gimmicks, and muh romance. The only reason I bother with TES is good lore and mods.

This guy gets it. Our only option reveals itself. Its all so clear to me now.

We have to secretly murder ALL casuals, then they'll have no choice but to make a good game, a truly good one. Hail Sithis.

If TES VI isn't set in lizard-land in the midst of a golden age and doesn't offer the ability to buy qt dunmer sex slave companions, I will kidnap Todd and rape him with an extra-large dragon dildo with AIDS blood in the cum tube every day, until he either dies from a perforated colon because his boipussy can't handle the bantz or withers away from the AIDS.

The best we can hope for at this point is that they continue down the road they started on with fallout 4 and make it sandboxy as fuck with lots of customizable features

Because really the only worthwhile thing about any garbage bethesda puts out now is the mods, so they might as well just make a game as a good base for mods to be added on top of

You know black marsh will be CHIM'ed into a temperate forest right? Also, only 30% of NPCs will be argonian because everyone else can live there now. The hist won't even get a mention.

>skyrim was awesome

You sorta make a good point, people are very blinded by nostalgia. I think the problem is that people deny the strengths and weaknesses of each elder scrolls game. I find morrowind more fun than skyrim but I can't deny it did things better.

>direct sequel to skyrim civil war

no

Skyrim had a lot of neat concepts that it failed to utilized properly, due to every questline being rushed and all of four quests long.

 No.10804

>>10803

Yeah, the cut content showed the game had more potential

the quality of the dragonborn DLC also showed Bethesda is still able to make cool locations and quests

 No.10805

>>10804

Dragonborn and Dawnguard were quite good, as was Shivering Isles. Bethesda still have talent, they just don't always apply it

TES's real issue is lack of a good combat system. They could learn a thing or two from Durk Sills.

only thing skyrim had over the old games is better graphics and animation. which doesn't even deserve a mention, it's just expected of a newer game.

Combat was dramatically improved from Oblivion, and there's only so many ways you can swing a godamn sword.

And yet you fools prefer Morrowind, a game with the absolute worst combat ever.

>>10804

>cool quests

It was an extension of the daedric theme already set forth in Skyrim

>cool location

Besides the tiny Dunmer port and the Red mountain way in the distance, the island was very Skyrim in character

You idiots are blinded by nostalgia so severely that Bethesda dropping just a morsel of Morrowind into a dlc makes it better than everything else, even had the same music from Morrowind, as if they were trolling you retards. Get the fuck over Morrrowind already.

>>10803

It was only "rushed" if you rushed it, just like in every other ES. It's your fault. The lore is there in the books, just like with Morrowind, except it's not spoon fed to you because we now have voice acting instead text, so you actually have to give a shit about what youre doing.

 No.10818

>>10817

tbh I was the kind of person who would get called out as 'casual skyrim bby' and I played dragonborn before morrowind. I was intrigued by the mushroom towers, netches, redoran guards and shit and got morrowind after

>extension of the daedric theme already set forth in skyrim

Daedric theme, set forth in skyrim? What the fuck? Skyrim had daedric quests like any other elder scrolls, and Oblivion had more focus on, well, daedra and oblivion. Shivering isles was a different thing than the parts of apocrypha you see in dragonborn. I still like it a lot, despite the parts that are supposedly skyrim.

 No.10821

>>10817

I like Skyrim too but you're being way to nice to it. By "rushed" they don't mean pacing or quest structure (although that's an issue as well). It means corners were cut to make the game come out earlier and easier on the consoles and as such the whole game suffered. The Civil war had its nuts chopped off and turned into a sidequest despite being the literal backbone of the game's code. Other quests were also trimmed and made tame or shorter, and so you get so many repetitive fetch quests and murder sprees. The lack of active lore dumps is due to casuals not liking the stuff, the the dialogue system they chose favors quick and easy exposition but would be pretty tedious and limited for long, 2-sided interactions.

Let's not be like the Dunmer though, thinking we're baddass just because the situation is shit and we endure it. None of the flaws of skyrim make the "gamer" better or are worthy of bravado, they don't make Skyrim a better game at all. The nostalgia around morrowind is annoying too but come on, Skyrim just came out in 2011, we can't be down this shit to it yet.

>dual wield a spell with a one-hander

Ooo boy! Let me reduce my already anemic melee combat options from 'attack or block' to just 'attack'! What a fun and involved combat system!

Yeah, no. Removing all defense options for dual wielders and making iconic class archetypes like two handed weapon using Spellswords or Witchhunters unplayable with out juggling spells and weapons was a fucking awful idea. Thank god for the dual wield parry mod, or would have been even *more* bored with combat
