It's like waiting for the new Zelda.
Is this going to be released this year?
Is it going to get a modding community of its own? [ie. are people going to make mods into that Morrowind]
Anonymous 08/11/15 (Tue) 23:58:47 No. 8101
I have a negative opinion of Skywind. It's a useless project and unless it brings lots of people into OpenMW and original game, it's completely useless.

Oh don't be ridiculous.
Morrowind wasn't about combat and "hardcore" RPG mechanics.
it was about the adventure.
the whole game was made from the ground up to inspire a sense of wonder and to create a world that felt like it could actually exist. That's why the combat felt so lacking, the game had nothing to do with combat. You weren't supposed to be a killing machine slaying evil you were a stranger in an alien land trying to figure out just what the fuck you were doing. And in the process you stumble into an ancient prophecy and a destiny that even you can barely comprehend the significance of.
that's what made Morrowind so brilliant, not that its unappealing to casuals but it can create such a compelling world and make you feel like you're actually there. And very few games both before and after have come close to reaching that lofty goal.

I actually enjoyed Morrowind's combat and RPG mechanics though…
I also liked the stuff you got from it, but I didn't feel the combat was lacking, yeah it was kind of buggy and hard to get the hang of, but I still liked it.

I also liked the combat system. Prefered it to Skyrim's, in fact. You actually felt like, as you got better with things, that you were getting better. And when you had a poor skill in an item, it actually felt like you were shit at it. Unlike Skyrim's system, which admittedly the major issue was that things leveled up with you, but still, no matter how poor or good you were at something, you felt the same.

Yep, people hating on Morrowind combat are just showing how young they are. Dice-roll mechanics made perfect sense back in the day, and they still do if you can utilize your imagination a bit.

I was not a fan of Morrowind's combat, it basically boils down to spam lmb. I greatly preferred Daggerfall's combat which actually felt interactive.

That's vaguely disgusting. That's like eating fried horse.

I always thought of them as being like grubs. and Guar always made me think of chickens. They both have that retarded hop like walk and blank facial expression. Also i have never seen any Lore explaining how Guar give birth and they look reptilian so therefore they could even lay eggs. If you want to finally add something to the Community your next project could be a Guar ranch with a fully fleshed out Guar reproductive cycle and an anime inspired waifu companion

I wanted to actually do something involving netch farming more than guars. There's something fulfilling about being a netchiman, watching them lazily float around while you sit back and smoke a pipe, you know?

>shit on a chair
No, that'd be weird. I'm a civilized dunmer netchimen, not a khajiit.
And I wouldn't be watching my slaves work obviously, the netch are more important.
Generally I just wanted to do a comfy farming mod, but that'd be a while from now. If I do another mod at this point, it'll be the dreaming mod.
Trainwiz 08/20/15 (Thu) 02:44:00 No. 8173

Nah, I've explained it before, it'd give the player interactive dreams randomly. The scripts are there, as are the plans for what dreams they could have, but I've got 50+ dreams to actually make, which isn't an endeavor I really want to do.
But I might just get a team to help make it, and add an easy way for users to implement their own custom dreams.

Well yeah, the only reason I made it is for a short video.
Also I'm not sure if a racing mod would work very well, the NPCs have trouble pathfinding if they're going too fast, and it looks like there's a limitation to how many nodes a path for them to follow them has.

Morrowind's engine can handle high-res textures without lagging to hell (with a little tuning, of course), so OpenMW's will, too.

So will you be making more Morrowind mods when OpenMW is released?
