As for what actually transpired this is what happened, from a construction kit perspective:
>Open up the CS>Get up the player and Sheogorath NPC entries
>Copy/paste most content from Sheogorath unto the Player NPC
>Save
>Activate .esp and play Oblivion
>Due to duplicate entries, system does not understand and rather than crash, has one file replace the other because it thinks the other is the same entryThis is what we call mantling, mimic someone perfectly in TES and you will become them.
Imagine if there was an independent viral monstrosity that knew of this process in TES and proceeded to control the minds of others to act out other lives to switch around lives in an endless replacement process until the remainder data that was not unique to the PC's overwritten gets so garbled and fucked it breaks the whole thing.
Make for an interesting campaign/plot.
