I played Morrowind cheatless and modless when I went back to try it out after years of not trying it out specifically because of autists like the ones on this board.
It really is something special, immersive despite the bad menus and graphics, etc.
But people who say it's harder than Oblivion and Skyrim are bullshitting. Look in hollow stump, get great starting weapon. Stay approximately on paths and follow instructions to survive like Oblivion, don't run into shit you can't handle. The lack of fast travel is more annoying than immersive, as you have to mark down the locations of caves on a piece of paper somewhere or slog through them all when you first get to them (which you're not levelled to do), and movement is tedious as fuck at first, but if you just jump everywhere you go until you run out of stamina, you get a great combined method of travel after leveling up a bit.
What actually made me stop playing was Vivec. Hurr durr multiple quarters we arr rook same, hurr durr follow the perimeter to find the one lane up or down a level, hurr durr fetch quests usually just locating the NPC to find as in one quarter or "in Vivec".
No thanks. After wandering it for a while trying to talk to everyone and go everywhere, I just realized that this was going to be a central plot hub for everything else and set the game down, because it's astoundingly dull for an elegant mer city or whatnot.
But up until that, fun game. Wish the cliff racers would spend less time flying back and forth trying to get behind me, and more time trying to sting me so I could kill them faster, but it's not so bad.
