 No.275

Based Wheelie King is about to sign an open carry bill, which would allow for handguns to be openly carried. What does /texas/ think?

I'm for it. I'm also for that on campus carry bill. I know a lot of people who are against the campus carry (and I live in a conservative part of the state), but I don't understand why. It's not like the amount of shootings will increase. It's already really easy to bring your gun to campus and hide it. Anybody who wants to go to school and shoot a whole bunch of people already can, so you might as well have people who can shoot back there as well.

>I don't understand why

The best argument I've heard boils down to confusion.

Imagine that you're sitting in your class and you hear a series of gunshots.

You exit the classroom and are confronted with an individual carrying a gun.

Is that individual the shooter or is the individual a citizen responder? If that individual is another citizen responder, will they recognize you as such, or will they assume you're the shooter?

Aren't most shooters armed to the teeth? A citizen responder would only have a handgun, not some scary tactical weapon with cop killing, baby seeking assault clips. It probably wouldn't be that difficult to figure out who's who.

The only argument I've heard from people against it is that they're afraid of some gun nut getting angry and then, in the heat of the moment, pull out their handgun and shoot them.

lol, that's silly.

If you're talking to someone and he begins pulling out a firearm, you're probably going to be close enough to slap his shit.

>still need a CHL

>cops can stop and harass you for OCing

>NRA trying to take all the credit

Well that was a whole lot of fucking nothing.

Since I'm stuck with a family of them, I can confirm that SJWs are even more afraid of the scary assault weapons now.

Long time Texan, first time poster due to some spammer on >>>/n/.

The whole thing seems like blatant pandering by politicians, like fag marriage or OMG PARTIAL BIRTH ABORSHUN. There are actual political issues facing our state that would require very difficult choices, but hey look over here! Guns!

That said I could give a fuck if people want to open carry. It might make a tiny minority of people safer, but for most it would be a visible badge of USI and attention-seeking.
